Places to Visit in Virajpet

Virajpet Town and St Anne Church
The town was founded in 1792 by Vira Rajendra of the Haleri line, who commemorated a treaty here and built a church for the Christians of his territory in the same year - St Anne, one of the oldest in this part of Karnataka, with a bell said to have come from a European foundry. The clock tower in the centre is the other landmark. Virajpet is a coffee and honey trading town rather than a sightseeing one; visit for an hour, buy honey from the traders, and treat it as your base rather than your destination.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Maddur
Home of the Maddur Vada
The Mysore highway is the best road out of Bangalore and the exit is straightforward once past Kengeri. Our drivers aim to be clear of the city before 7:30 AM; this route is more forgiving on timing than most of ours, but weekend traffic toward Mysore builds properly by mid-morning. Ramanagara is the silk cocoon capital of Asia, with the granite hills alongside familiar from a great deal of film. Channapatna follows, where lacquered wooden toys have been turned since Tipu Sultan brought artisans from Persia - the craft carries a GI tag and the shops are on the highway. Maddur is where the vada was invented and where most travellers stop for it.

Mysore
City of Palaces
Sugarcane country through Mandya, where the KRS dam and the Cauvery canals made the district what it is. Srirangapatna sits on an island in the river a little further on and holds a great deal - the Ranganathaswamy temple, the Daria Daulat Bagh with its painted walls, the Gumbaz, and the spot where Tipu fell in 1799. An hour there is well spent if the day allows. Mysore is the natural breakfast halt and needs no introduction. On a Coorg run most groups pass through, though for anyone with a spare half day the palace and Chamundi Hills are right there. Beyond Mysore the road turns west and the country begins to change.

Gonikoppal
Coffee Market Town of South Kodagu
Seventy-five kilometres west and south-west on good two-lane road, with the country turning from the dry Mysore plain into something greener as the Kodagu foothills approach. Hunsur is a tobacco and trading town and the turn for the Nagarhole gates, which sit around forty kilometres south-west of it. The road crosses into Kodagu and the change is immediate - coffee under shade trees, pepper vines on the trunks, and the light going green. Gonikoppal is a working coffee market town and the commercial centre of the southern half of the district; between here and Virajpet the estates are continuous.

Virajpet
Town of Vira Rajendra
Thirty kilometres of estate road, gently climbing, with coffee on both sides and the Brahmagiri range visible to the south on a clear day. This is some of the more attractive short driving in Karnataka and it takes about forty minutes. Virajpet is compact - a clock tower, St Anne church from 1792, coffee and honey traders, and a market. It is a town people use rather than visit, which is exactly its value: the homestays around it are on working estates rather than in resort compounds, and Igguthappa, Nalknad, Tadiandamol and Iruppu are all closer from here than from Madikeri. Many estate properties sit on unlit private lanes, so send us the name at booking and we will confirm the approach. A 7:00 AM departure puts most travellers in by around 1:00 PM.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Virajpet Route
Corporate Package
South Kodagu has quietly become an alternative to the crowded Madikeri belt for Bangalore team offsites, and the estate properties around Ammathi and Chettalli take corporate groups outside the peak weekends. This package includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate tempo traveller bangalore stays with your team for the estate, the falls and the Nagarhole gate, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Because the drive is only five and a half hours, a two-night Friday-to-Sunday offsite is realistic here in a way it is not for the coastal or northern routes. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Function Package
The booking that defines this route. Virajpet is the heart of Kodava country, and Kodava families settled in Bangalore return constantly — for weddings, for the Iguthappa festival, for Kailpodh and Puttari, and for funerals and ancestral home gatherings. These are not tourist trips and they do not behave like tourist trips: the timings are fixed by the function, the group is multi-generational, and the vehicle needs to wait for hours and then move at short notice. We staff coorg wedding transport and family function bookings with drivers who understand that and who know the estate roads and ancestral home locations rather than only the resort addresses. Tell us the function and the venue at enquiry and we plan around it.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking — college groups, friend groups doing Thadiyandamol, and trekking parties. Standard 8 to 13 seater tempo travellers, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The tempo traveller rate per km in bangalore for the standard tier is our lowest group-vehicle rate, and on a 250 kilometre run with a lot of local movement at the far end, the saving against multiple cars is significant. Trekking groups should note that Thadiyandamol and Brahmagiri both need forest department permission arranged ahead, and that early starts are the norm. Our school transportation services division handles the larger college and institutional bookings on this route.
Luxury Package
The 17 and 18 seater vehicles in a fuller specification, or a smaller variant run below capacity so every passenger has a spare seat. For wedding parties, milestone family gatherings and groups travelling with elderly relatives to a function, the difference is worth having, and the arrival matters when a vehicle is pulling up at an ancestral home rather than a hotel porch. For a step further in the same seat range, our force urbania rent bangalore fleet offers full recliner seats, dual-zone air conditioning and per-seat charging in 8 to 16 seater configurations on the same route.
Our Tempo Traveller Fleet in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller rental bangalore fleet covers 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 17 and 18 seater configurations, all air conditioned, with push-back seating, charging points and GPS tracking. We run the full range of group vehicles from one Bangalore base, so a change in headcount after booking can usually be handled without starting over.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 8 to 16 seater luxury van, the premium alternative in the same seat range
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for larger family functions, subject to the estate approach
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for wedding guest movements
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On a route of this length it makes no difference — the drive is comfortably done in half a day, and we plan the Thithimathi forest stretch for daylight rather than running it late.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where a route crosses a state border
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
No interstate tax applies on this route, since the journey stays inside Karnataka from end to end. The Bangalore to Mysore expressway is tolled and those charges are estimated in the written quote. Safari permits, forest department trek permissions, entry fees at Srirangapatna and any homestay activity costs are settled directly by passengers or through your property and are no part of the vehicle quote.
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We build this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required, and note that treks and adventure activities arranged through homestays or operators carry their own terms. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Virajpet Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to virajpet distance by road is approximately 250 kilometres. The route runs on the Bangalore to Mysore expressway as far as Mysore, then NH275 to Hunsur, and south through Thithimathi and Gonikoppal into Kodagu. Expect 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours 30 minutes including halts. The alternative through Kushalnagar and Madikeri is around forty kilometres longer and we use it when the Gonikoppal road is under repair, which has been the case periodically over the years.
Tempo traveller fare starts around Rs 13,000. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
Often, but not always, and it is worth checking rather than assuming. South Kodagu accommodation is largely on working estates, reached by private roads built for jeeps and pickups, and the surface softens considerably between June and September. A 12 or 13 seater manages almost every property; an 18 seater is fine for many but not all. Send us the property name at enquiry and we will confirm the approach and either size the vehicle to it or arrange a transfer for the final stretch.
Yes, but it takes planning. The expressway bypasses the town centres, and the toy showrooms at Channapatna and the vada establishments at Maddur are on the old highway. Reaching them means taking an exit and rejoining, which costs about fifteen minutes each. Tell us at enquiry stage if you want these stops and the driver will route for them rather than discovering the request at 80 kilometres an hour in the middle lane.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific tempo traveller variant on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Coorg books out earlier than any other destination we serve, so for long weekends and the wedding season, confirm well in advance.
Comfortably, and this is the main reason people choose Coorg over the coastal or northern routes. At five and a half hours it is the shortest of our long-route destinations. Two nights is the sensible minimum and three lets you cover Kakkabe, Nagarhole and Talakaveri without rushing. If your group can travel out on a Friday morning and back on a Monday morning rather than bracketing the weekend, the drive is considerably more pleasant in both directions.
Not for Virajpet itself — the route stays inside Karnataka throughout. A Kerala interstate permit applies if your itinerary extends south to Wayanad, which is a common addition from a southern Coorg base, and we arrange and bill that at actuals. Separate forest department permits apply for Nagarhole safaris and for the Thadiyandamol and Brahmagiri treks; those are arranged ahead and paid by passengers.
Our 17 seater tempo traveller rent bangalore fleet, along with 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 18 seater variants, covers most group sizes. For a wedding or family function where relatives are travelling together from Bangalore, the 17 or 18 seater usually fits one household group; larger movements are better served by a 12 to 24 seater mini bus or a coach, subject to the approach at the venue. Tell us the venue and we will advise on what can physically reach it.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services, and on this route it would serve no purpose — the drive is half a day. We also plan the Thithimathi forest stretch for daylight rather than running it at night, both because of movement restrictions on roads through and beside reserve forest and because elephant and gaur crossings on that stretch are a real consideration after dark.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered, and treks and activities arranged through homestays or operators carry their own terms and waivers. All our vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, group size, property or venue name and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller hire bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
