Gumbaz
A short drive from Daria Daulat Bagh, the Gumbaz is the domed mausoleum built by Tipu Sultan for his father Hyder Ali, and it later became his own resting place along with his mother, Fakr-Un-Nisa. The onion shaped dome and the ivory inlaid doors, a gift from the Nizam of Hyderabad, mark this as one of the finer examples of Islamic funerary architecture in Karnataka, and the surrounding avenue of cypress trees adds a solemn, formal quality to the approach. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary
Just three kilometres from the main town, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is Karnataka's largest bird sanctuary, spread across a cluster of small islets in the Kaveri formed by an embankment built in 1648. Boat rides through the sanctuary are the main draw, bringing visitors close to painted storks, herons, cormorants, and, during the breeding season between June and November, large nesting colonies that turn entire trees white with birds. Jama Masjid (Masjid-e-Ala)

The road distance is 125 kilometres via the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on NH275. Allow 2 to 2 hours 30 minutes on the expressway including a comfort halt, or 3 to 3 hours 30 minutes if you take the service road route with stops at Bidadi, Channapatna and Maddur. Leaving Bengaluru by 6:30 am makes a real difference on weekends.
Comfortably. A 6:30 am departure gets you to the Ranganathaswamy temple by around 9 am, and the fort, Summer Palace, Gumbaz and Bailey Dungeon all sit within a couple of kilometres of each other. Add Ranganathittu and Nimishamba and you are still back in Bengaluru by early evening. Adding Mysore as well makes for a long but manageable day.

The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, driver bata after 9:45 pm and GST are charged separately. Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The advance can be paid by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or card via payment link, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance.
Our usual recommendation is one of each. The expressway outbound gets you to the monuments early and ahead of the crowds. The service road on the return lets you stop at Channapatna for toys and Maddur for vade, which the expressway bypasses entirely. Tell your driver at pickup and the day is planned around your choice.
Yes, and most groups do. Mysore is 16 kilometres further and Ranganathittu is 3 kilometres off the same road, so both add distance rather than a detour. Ranganathittu needs about 90 minutes including the boat ride. If you want Mysore Palace and Brindavan Gardens too, we would suggest an overnight rather than squeezing it into one day.
Yes, it is one of our highest-volume school routes. We provide the driver verification, vehicle documentation and seat manifest that institutional approvals generally require, and can supply multiple vehicles or a mini bus for larger batches. Share your student and staff count and we will match the fleet to it.
We operate 12 to 18 seater tempo travellers in Standard AC, Executive and Maharaja luxury configurations. For groups above 26 we move you to our mini bus or full-size bus fleet. Note that the Karighatta hill road is narrow and steep, so a 12 or 14 seater suits that particular stop better than the largest vehicles.
Cancellation more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Charges then step up: 10 per cent at 48 to 72 hours, 25 per cent at 24 to 48 hours, 50 per cent at 12 to 24 hours and 75 per cent under 12 hours. School excursions postponed rather than cancelled are carried forward at no penalty. If Tejas Travels cancels for any operational reason, you get a full refund within 2 working days or a substitute vehicle.
