Places to Visit in Dandeli

Kali River Rafting and Water Sports
The rafting stretch runs a few kilometres of the Kali with rapids that vary from gentle to moderately lively depending on the release from Supa, and it is what built Dandeli reputation. Kayaking, coracle rides, river crossing and natural swimming pools operate alongside it and are less dependent on flow. Visit between October and May; the monsoon months are closed for safety. Book with the camp or operator directly and confirm the water position for your dates - we arrange the transport and the timing, not the run.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Chitradurga
Fort of Seven Rounds
The route leaves Bangalore northwest on NH 48 and the Nelamangala junction is the only stretch that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past it before 7:00 AM, since four corridors diverge there and it builds fast on weekend mornings, which is exactly when Dandeli traffic travels. Beyond Nelamangala the highway is six-lane and quick across increasingly dry plateau. Sira held a Mughal subah in the early eighteenth century, the southernmost formal Mughal province, and the Jumma Masjid survives from it. Chitradurga is the natural breakfast halt, and the fort climbing the granite outcrop in seven concentric walls is worth two hours if you have them.
Haveri
Chilli Town of Karnataka
Fast divided highway through the cotton and maize country of central Karnataka. Davangere built its name on cotton mills and keeps it now on the benne dosa, which is worth the stop and which most travellers on this road make. Harihar follows on the Tungabhadra with its twelfth-century temple to Hari and Hara in a single image. Byadgi, near Haveri, is the chilli town - the GI-tagged deep-red Byadgi chilli is grown and traded here and prized across India for colour rather than heat, and in season the drying yards and the transport around them are striking to pass.

Dharwad
Cultural Capital of North Karnataka
Hubballi is the commercial and railway hub of north Karnataka and the largest city on this route after Bangalore. Dharwad, twenty kilometres on and effectively twinned with it, is something quite different - a university town and the home of a Hindustani music lineage that produced Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal and Mallikarjun Mansur, which for a north Indian classical tradition to have taken root this far south is remarkable. It is also where you buy Dharwad peda, which carries a GI tag and is genuinely distinct from peda made anywhere else. The original shops are in the town rather than on the highway and it is worth the detour. From Dharwad the road turns north-west and the country begins to change.

Dandeli
Adventure Capital of Karnataka
Sixty kilometres north-west on good two-lane road, and the landscape shifts completely - the dry Deccan plateau gives way to the Western Ghats forest, dense and green, with teak and bamboo closing in on both sides. Haliyal sits at the transition and is the last town of any size. Dandeli itself is a paper mill town rather than a resort village, which surprises people - the mill and the workers colony are a substantial part of it. The camps and resorts are outside the town along the Kali, several on unlit approach roads through forest, which is the practical reason we push a daylight arrival. Send us the property name at booking and we will confirm the approach. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in by around 2:30 PM.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Dandeli Route
Corporate Package
Dandeli is one of the most booked corporate offsite dandeli destinations out of Bangalore, and for good reason — rafting and a night walk do more for a team than a conference room does. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, one named driver for the full trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. We coordinate with the resort on arrival timing so a team landing at 2 PM is not waiting for check-in. Our corporate travels bangalore desk handles multi-vehicle movements for larger teams.
Family Package
Usually three or four days, often built around school holidays, and frequently extended to Gokarna. Dandeli suits families with older children better than almost any alternative within a day’s drive of Bangalore, because there is something to do rather than only something to look at. We plan the outbound around an early start and a Chitradurga break so the driving does not eat the first day.
Budget Package
For college groups and friends’ trips where the per-head figure decides everything. Non-AC 12 to 14 seater tempo travellers, point to point, clean vehicle and a verified driver. Dandeli’s forest cools noticeably at night for much of the year, and on the October to February trip most groups do not miss the AC. The budget tier varies vehicle specification only — maintenance, driver vetting and statutory compliance do not change with it.
Luxury and Executive Package
Higher-specification tempo travellers with fewer, wider recliner seats, extra legroom and better sound insulation — worth it on a route with two long driving days at either end of a short holiday. For a further step up, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration runs the same corridor with standing headroom and captain seating.
Our Fleet in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller rental bangalore fleet covers 8, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations. Every category below is held at the same Bangalore base, so a change in headcount after booking is normally handled by reallocating the vehicle rather than restarting the booking.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium alternative in the same size band
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for larger groups, though resort access should be confirmed first
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, for large college and corporate movements
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Fortuner and Commuter through Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. Groups wanting to travel overnight and arrive for breakfast do so in a seated vehicle with a driver rested for the run.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears for the first time at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where an itinerary crosses into another state
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The Dandeli route stays inside Karnataka, so no interstate permit applies unless the itinerary extends to Goa. Rafting fees, safari charges, forest entry and resort costs are paid to those operators directly and sit outside our quote entirely. Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore: the meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup and stops when it returns, and it is built into the written quote, so the figure you approve is the figure you settle.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required — worth considering on a trip involving rafting, though adventure operators carry their own cover and waivers. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.
Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels
• Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
• Share your travel date.
• Share your Bangalore pickup location — area or landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, a hotel name, a tech park, or KIA airport.
• Share your destination or full day-wise itinerary, including which days the vehicle is not needed.
• Share your number of passengers and your luggage volume.
• Tell us the name of your Dandeli resort, so we can confirm whether the vehicle reaches the gate.
• For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote
• Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.
• The quote itemises every charge:
• Tempo traveller hire rate — per kilometre or flat package
• Driver allowance — Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class
• Applicable toll estimates
• Interstate permit only where the itinerary leaves Karnataka — Goa in this case. Not applicable to Dandeli itself.
• GST
• No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.
• Ask for the whole-trip figure, not only the per-kilometre rate — on a route with idle days that is the number that matters.
• For corporate clients requiring reimbursement, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.
Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance
• Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.
• A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.
• Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.
• Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.
• Your confirmation includes:
• Driver name and mobile number
• Vehicle registration number
• Departure time
• Pickup location confirmation
• Full billing breakdown — all in writing
• Long weekends and the October to March season book heaviest on this route. For premium vehicles and peak dates the advance may be higher given limited fleet availability.
Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early
• Your assigned Tejas Travels driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
• For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.
• The vehicle is clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.
• The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.
• During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments and Bangalore traffic navigation.
• On the Haliyal to Dandeli stretch the driver reduces speed for wildlife crossings, particularly after dusk.
• At trip end, the balance is settled after deducting the advance.
• Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.
Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, resort name and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

• UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

Premium vehicle note: for luxury vehicles including the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S Class, a higher advance may be required given limited Bangalore fleet availability and wedding season demand.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Dandeli Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to dandeli distance is approximately 460 kilometres via NH48, through Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Haveri, Hubballi, Kalghatgi and Haliyal. A tempo traveller takes 8.5 to 10 hours including halts — a little longer than a car. There is a scenic alternative via Shivamogga, Sagar, Sirsi and Yellapur on NH69 that takes in Jog Falls, but it is narrower and slower. Our route guide covers all the travel options in more detail.
No, and this catches groups out regularly. Safaris inside Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kali Tiger Reserve run only in forest department vehicles, booked at Kulgi Nature Camp or through your resort at roughly Rs 400 to 700 a head. No private vehicle enters the sanctuary. Our driver takes you to the safari departure point and waits. Book morning slots early — they fill first.
No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Rafting on the Kali depends on water released from the Supa Dam and on district and forest permissions, neither of which any operator controls. It is normally suspended in peak monsoon and can be curtailed when the release is low. Plan an itinerary that still works without it — Syntheri Rocks, Sykes Point, a safari and the backwaters make a full trip on their own.
Usually yes for a tempo traveller, which is the main practical reason to choose one here. Most Dandeli resorts sit down unpaved forest tracks off the Ganeshgudi, Kulgi or Supa roads, and a TT reaches the gate at almost all of them where a full-size coach often cannot. Send us the resort name at enquiry stage and we will confirm before you book rather than after you arrive.
On total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. A three-day Dandeli trip is roughly 920 kilometres of driving concentrated in two travel days, with an idle day in the middle that still carries its minimum. This is standard across the organised industry, but it means you should ask for a whole-trip figure rather than a per-kilometre rate. Tell us which days the vehicle is not needed and we will quote accordingly — occasionally releasing and re-booking works out cheaper, and we will say so.
Tempo Traveller fares around Rs 24,000. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
October to March is the window for safaris and water sports, and the forest is at its most comfortable. April to June is hot but quieter and cheaper. Monsoon between June and September brings the waterfalls to full flow and the forest to its best, but rafting is generally suspended, some forest access is restricted, and leeches are a real consideration — carry salt and anti-leech socks.
Yes, and many groups do. Gokarna is around 140 kilometres west and needs no permit; the combination of two days in the forest and two on the beach is one of our most requested itineraries from Bangalore. Goa is a similar distance and does require an interstate permit, which we arrange before departure and bill at actuals. Share the full day-wise plan at enquiry and we quote the whole loop as one figure.
We run 8, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations in AC and non-AC. On this route luggage matters more than usual because of wet gear and adventure kit, so a group of twelve is often more comfortable in a 16 seater. Above eighteen we move you to a 12 to 24 seater mini bus, though resort access should be confirmed first. For a premium alternative in the same band, the 13 to 17 seater Force Urbania runs the same corridor.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover; passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance, which is worth considering on a trip involving rafting, though adventure operators carry their own cover and waivers. We do not operate sleeper bus services — all vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, passenger count, resort name and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller rental bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
