Places to Visit in Shirdi

Shri Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir
This is the principal reason millions travel to Shirdi each year. The Samadhi Mandir houses the mortal remains of Sai Baba and is the spiritual centrepiece of the entire town. The sanctum is adorned with white Italian marble and the life-size idol of Sai Baba draws devotees in enormous numbers throughout the day. The atmosphere of devotion, the fragrance of incense, and the collective prayers create an overwhelming spiritual experience. Darshan timings are structured and the complex also includes the Dwarkamai mosque where Sai Baba lived, the Chawdi where he slept on alternate nights, and Gurusthan where he was first sighted as a young man.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Tumkur
Spiritual hub
Tumkur is the first major town on the route and serves as an ideal early breakfast stop when you depart from Bangalore. The National Highway 48 connecting Bangalore to Tumkur is a well-maintained four-lane expressway that allows smooth driving. Tumkur is known for its coconut farms and the surrounding district is one of the most productive coconut growing regions in Karnataka. The town has good highway dhabas and restaurants where travellers can refresh themselves before continuing towards Chitradurga. Tumkur also has quick access to the Devarayana Durga hill fort and Siddaganga Math, though most Shirdi-bound travellers skip these and continue on the highway. The stretch from Bangalore to Tumkur is one of the fastest and most comfortable on the entire route, typically covered in about 90 minutes.

Chitradurga
Iconic landmark: Chitradurga Fort
Chitradurga is a significant historical town and a popular stop for travellers on this route. The famous Chitradurga Fort, known as Elusuttina Kote (the seven-walled fort), rises dramatically from the rocky landscape and is visible from the highway. This eighteenth century fort complex is associated with the Palyagara chieftains and Hyder Ali. Most travellers use Chitradurga as a mid-morning snack stop or fuel stop. The town has a growing number of highway restaurants, petrol stations, and rest facilities. Beyond Chitradurga, the road transitions into the northern Deccan plateau terrain and the landscape becomes drier and more dramatic. The Chitradurga Fort is worth a short visit if you have allocated sufficient time and are not travelling overnight.

Hubli-Dharwad
Cultural twin‑city
The twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad represent the most significant urban stop on the Bangalore to Shirdi road route. Hubli is a major commercial centre and railway junction in northern Karnataka while Dharwad is known as a cultural and academic hub. This is the ideal lunch stop for most travellers departing Bangalore in the early morning hours. The cities offer a wide range of restaurant options including both South Indian and North Indian cuisines. From Hubli-Dharwad, the route continues towards Solapur crossing into Maharashtra. The roads in this stretch are well-marked and maintained under the National Highway Authority. Petrol, diesel, and EV charging facilities are readily available in and around Hubli.

Solapur
Pilgrimage & temples
Solapur is the last major city before reaching Shirdi and marks the crossing into Maharashtra proper. The city is historically important and is associated with the Bhima Shankar temple and the Solapur Fort. Most travellers use Solapur as an evening or dinner stop before the final leg of the journey to Shirdi. The road from Solapur to Shirdi is well-connected via state highways and passes through smaller Maharashtrian towns. The landscape around Solapur is characterised by flat, semi-arid terrain with sugarcane fields. Solapur also has a railway station with trains connecting to Mumbai and Pune if any travellers in your group need to split for onward journeys

Shirdi
The Divine Destination
After a long and rewarding drive, the arrival in Shirdi is marked by the increasing number of devotees, orange flags, and signboards pointing to the Samadhi Mandir. The town is compact and most attractions are within walking distance of the main temple complex. Tejas Travels ensures that your driver knows the best drop-off points nearest to the temple and is familiar with the local parking and traffic regulations. On arrival, most pilgrims proceed directly for darshan before settling into accommodation. The entire Bangalore to Shirdi cab journey, when planned overnight, allows you to arrive in time for the morning aarti, which is one of the most spiritually powerful experiences Shirdi has to offer.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Shirdi Route
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common booking on this route. A 12 or 17 seater AC pushback tempo traveller for extended families and bhajan mandalis, with luggage capacity for a four to six day trip, a driver experienced on the Maharashtra corridor, and an itinerary built around realistic driving hours. We plan the overnight halt at Vijayapura or Solapur where the group prefers to break the journey. A frequently requested tempo traveller for pilgrimage bangalore configuration through the winter months.
Corporate Package
For companies organising employee pilgrimage trips, a practice common among Bangalore manufacturing and IT firms. Includes a 17 or 26 seater AC vehicle, Maharashtra permit arranged in advance, GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, and a driver briefed on a fixed multi-day schedule. Consolidated billing is available where multiple vehicles run together. Our standard corporate tempo traveller bangalore setup for group welfare trips.
Budget Package
The most economical way to move a group of twelve to Shirdi and back. A standard AC tempo traveller on a straight per-kilometre basis, honest billing and the same maintenance and driver standards as the rest of the fleet. Suited to community groups and temple committees travelling on a collected corpus. Given the distance, ask for the four-day and six-day rates together so the committee can compare before deciding.
Luxury Package
A premium luxury tempo traveller bangalore configuration with 9 to 13 pushback recliner seats, individual reading lights, LED interiors, a cooler box, curtains and a music system. On a sixteen-hour drive this is not an indulgence so much as the difference between arriving rested and arriving exhausted, which matters when the first thing you do on arrival is stand in a darshan queue. For an even higher specification, our Force Urbania is the natural upgrade, and for larger groups a Volvo coach is worth pricing alongside.

How to Book a Tempo Traveller for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step
Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels
● Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
● Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle.
● For Shirdi and other multi-day interstate trips, share the full day-wise itinerary so the Maharashtra permit can be arranged, the night halts planned and a driver with route experience allocated.
● For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.
● For luxury vehicles, also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.
Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote
● Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.
● The quote clearly itemizes every charge:
○ Vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package)
○ Driver allowance (Rs 400 to 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class)
○ Driver night halt charge for each night away from base
○ Applicable toll estimates
○ Interstate permit and tax — Maharashtra for Shirdi, Kerala for Wayanad, Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati
● No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.
● For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.
● If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. On the Shirdi route it is worth comparing a tempo traveller against a coach if your group is large.
Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance
● Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.
● A 20% advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.
● Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link.
● Advance receipt within 30 minutes.
● Confirmation includes driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing.
● For luxury vehicles, the advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November to February, New Year).
Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early
● Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
● For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.
● The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready.
● For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.
● The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.
● During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, checkpost formalities and Bangalore traffic navigation.
● At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Shirdi
Approximately 870 kilometres via Chitradurga, Hospet, Vijayapura and Solapur, taking 15 to 16 hours of actual driving. The alternative corridor through Hubballi, Belagavi, Kolhapur and Pune is around 980 kilometres but runs on better highway for more of its length. Either way, plan for a full day and night on the road, or split the drive with an overnight halt.
Four days is the practical minimum: one day out, one full day in Shirdi for darshan and the local sites, one day back, and a buffer. Five to six days if you want to add Shani Shingnapur, Trimbakeshwar and Nashik, or Ellora and Grishneshwar. Attempting it in three days means two consecutive overnight drives, which we do not recommend for groups with elders or children.
Yes. The route crosses into Maharashtra, so a Maharashtra interstate permit and tax apply to the vehicle. We arrange this in advance and itemise the cost separately in your written quote, so nothing is demanded at the checkpost. This is why we ask for the full day-wise itinerary at the enquiry stage rather than just the destination.
A night halt charge covers the driver's accommodation and food for each night the vehicle is away from base. On a route like Shirdi it is unavoidable and appears as a separate line in your quote. The same applies to the extra driver bata for running after 9:45 pm, which an overnight drive always triggers. We state both openly rather than folding them into a headline rate.
Yes, particularly for Thursdays, weekends and festival periods. The Shri Sai Baba Sansthan operates online booking for aarti passes and accommodation, and slots for the four daily aartis are limited. Booking before you leave Bangalore is far easier than arranging it after a sixteen-hour drive. The passes must be booked by the group.
We operate 9, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater tempo travellers, all air-conditioned. For Shirdi we strongly recommend the pushback recliner variant in any size, since the seating makes a real difference across sixteen hours. For groups above twenty-five, ask us to price a Volvo coach alongside the tempo traveller, as the economics often favour the coach on this distance.
Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, Maharashtra interstate tax, GST, driver night halt charges and extra driver bata after 9:45 pm are charged separately. Accommodation, meals and darshan passes are arranged by the group. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory commercial vehicle insurance required by law, but individual passenger cover is not included. On a journey of this length we suggest travellers arrange their own travel insurance independently before departure.
Yes, and many groups do. Shani Shingnapur is about 70 kilometres away and takes half a day. Trimbakeshwar and Nashik, roughly 100 kilometres west, need a full day, as do Ellora and Grishneshwar 130 kilometres east. Adding all three turns a four-day trip into six or seven, so share the full plan at enquiry and we will quote the actual kilometres.
Yes. Share your GST number and preferred invoicing format at the enquiry stage. We issue a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval before travel and a final GST invoice after settlement, with the interstate permit and night halt charges shown as separate line items. Registered corporate clients can opt for 30-day credit terms, and temple committees or trusts can be invoiced against a written work order.
