Places to Visit in Mangalore

Panambur Beach

Panambur Beach

Panambur Beach is the most frequently visited and best-maintained beach in Mangalore, located close to the New Mangalore Port on the Arabian Sea shore. The beach is wide, clean and well-organised, with a lifeguard presence, a range of water sports including jet skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides and dolphin-watching trips, and enough open space for families to spend a full afternoon without feeling crowded. The International Kite Festival held here in February draws teams from across the world and is one of the more unusual events on the Karnataka coastal calendar. Travellers booking a Bangalore to Mangalore taxi for a beach-focused trip almost universally mention Panambur as the first stop they want to make on arrival, usually pairing it with a sunset view and fresh seafood at the stalls along the beach road. The proximity to the port also gives the beach a distinct working-coastal character, with ships visible in the distance and fishing boats beached along the northern edge in the early mornings.

The proximity to the port also gives the beach a distinct working-coastal character, with ships visible in the distance and fishing boats beached along the northern edge in the early mornings.

Tannirbhavi Beach

Tannirbhavi Beach

Tannirbhavi Beach sits across the Gurpur River from the main city and is accessible either by road or by a short ferry ride from Sultan Battery, which itself is a popular heritage stop on the riverbank. Compared to Panambur, Tannirbhavi is quieter and more favoured by locals for an unhurried evening walk along the sand, with coconut palms lining the shore and an absence of the commercial activity that picks up on busier beaches during weekends and holidays. The ferry crossing adds a small adventure to the visit and gives travellers a view of the river mouth and the coast that is not possible from the road. Families on a Mangalore tour package from Bangalore who want a contrast to the water sports scene at Panambur often spend an early morning here before the day's sightseeing begins, since the beach faces west and is particularly photogenic at dusk.

St. Aloysius Chapel

St. Aloysius Chapel

St. Aloysius Chapel, built by Jesuit missionaries in 1880 and situated on Lighthouse Hill in the heart of Mangalore, is often described as the Sistine Chapel of India for the extraordinary frescoes that cover almost every surface of its interior. The paintings were executed by Italian Jesuit artist Antonio Moscheni in 1899 and depict scenes from the life of Christ alongside portraits of saints, all in a richly detailed European baroque style that is genuinely unusual in the Indian context. Art historians, architectural enthusiasts and general tourists alike are consistently struck by the scale and quality of the work, which has been carefully preserved under heritage guidelines. The chapel's campus also offers a view of the Arabian Sea from the hillside, and the surrounding St. Aloysius College buildings add to the heritage atmosphere of the visit. For travellers on a Bangalore to Mangalore cab booking who have only a single day in the city, this chapel is almost always included alongside one beach and one temple to give a balanced picture of what Mangalore offers.

Kadri Manjunath Temple

Kadri Manjunath Temple

The Kadri Manjunath Temple, believed to date from the tenth or eleventh century, is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Mangalore, situated at the base of the Kadri hills. The temple is known for housing a bronze idol of Lord Lokeshwara, considered one of the finest surviving examples of early medieval South Indian bronze craftsmanship, and a natural spring known as the Gomukha that feeds nine ponds of different sizes within the temple complex. The temple's architecture reflects a blend of Buddhist and later Hindu influences, which is unusual and historically significant: Buddhism was practised here until the tenth century before the site became the temple it is today. Pilgrims and tourists both include this as a core stop on any Mangalore visit, and the complex is open and welcoming to visitors of all backgrounds. Those arriving on a one way cab Bangalore to Mangalore for a pilgrimage circuit frequently combine this temple with Mangaladevi Temple and Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara on the same day.

Sultan Battery

Sultan Battery

Sultan Battery is a watchtower built by Tipu Sultan on the bank of the Gurpur River to monitor and control ship movements into the river mouth, and it is one of the few surviving structures in Mangalore from his period of rule. The battery is constructed from black laterite stone and is compact and fortress-like in appearance, with underground chambers that were used to store gunpowder during Tipu's time and later repurposed by the British as a naval office after the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. Today it functions as a heritage monument open to visitors, and it also serves as the departure point for the ferry to Tannirbhavi Beach, making it a practical stop that combines history with a river crossing. The views of the Gurpur River from the battery are particularly good in the late afternoon, and the surrounding waterfront has a pleasant, unhurried quality that contrasts with the busier parts of the city.

Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

The Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, located close to the city centre, is one of Mangalore's most visually striking temples, known for its tall golden gopuram, vibrant festival celebrations and the remarkable accessibility it was built around: the temple was established in the early twentieth century specifically to provide a place of worship open to all communities regardless of caste. The Navarathri celebrations held here each year are among the most elaborate in Karnataka, drawing large crowds for the decorated tableaux and cultural performances that accompany the ten-day festival. The temple's architecture and the gilded finials of its towers are a regular feature on postcards and tourism brochures for Mangalore, and it is one of the most photographed religious sites in the city. Families and group travellers on a Mangalore tour package from Bangalore typically include this temple as part of the first day's city circuit.

Pilikula Nisargadhama

Pilikula Nisargadhama

Pilikula Nisargadhama is a large nature and recreation complex about 12 kilometres from the city centre that combines a zoo, a botanical garden, a heritage park, a science centre and a lake with boating facilities within a single wooded campus. It is consistently listed as one of the top family destinations in Mangalore and draws visitors who want a full day of activity rather than a quick visit to a single attraction. The zoo section houses a healthy population of big cats, elephants, primates and reptiles, and the heritage village section includes life-sized reconstructions of traditional Tulu Nadu structures that offer a glimpse into the regional architecture and lifestyle. For travellers booking a Bangalore to Mangalore car rental for a family trip with children, Pilikula is usually scheduled as a dedicated half-day or full-day stop rather than a brief addition to the sightseeing list.

Mangaladevi Temple

Mangaladevi Temple

The Mangaladevi Temple, dedicated to the goddess after whom the city of Mangalore is named, is both a major pilgrimage site and a historically significant monument that dates back to the ninth century, when it was established during the reign of the Alupa dynasty. The temple sits close to the Bolar fishing harbour, and the approach through the fishing neighbourhood gives the visit a distinctly local feel that is different from the more tourist-oriented parts of the city. Devotees believe the presiding deity Mangaladevi is the protective goddess of the city and the origin of its name, so the temple carries a significance that goes beyond ordinary sightseeing. The structure itself is a good example of Kerala-influenced coastal Karnataka temple architecture with a distinctive roof style, and historians of the region regard it as one of the essential stops for anyone trying to understand Mangalore's early history.

Bangalore to Mangalore Tempo Traveller Packages

A beach weekend, a temple circuit and a family wedding are three different journeys over the same 355 kilometres. These five structures exist so that groups pay for what they actually need. All include fuel, a police-verified driver, GPS tracking and round-the-clock support, and none carries a permit charge, because this route does not need one.

Coastal Pilgrimage Package

The strongest use of a group vehicle on this route. Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Kateel Durga Parameshwari and the Udupi Sri Krishna temple sit within reach of a single Mangalore base, and doing that circuit in one vehicle rather than several is the difference between a smooth trip and a logistical argument. The package is built around early temple timings, adequate waiting at each shrine and a driver who knows the queue systems and parking at all four. Multi-day itineraries are planned in advance through our outstation vehicle booking desk.

Family and Wedding Package

A 12 seater tempo traveller bangalore to mangalore carries three generations, their luggage and the volume of material a coastal wedding involves in one vehicle. Grandparents get an aisle seat with an armrest rather than seven hours in a squeezed middle row, children have room to move, and the boot swallows what four car boots could not. Mangalorean families travelling home for functions are among our most regular customers on this route, and we handle both the outbound group and guest movement at the venue through our wedding car rental service. Round-trip family bookings carry a ten percent discount.

Corporate Package

Mangalore's port, banking and education sectors generate steady business travel from Bangalore, and the city hosts a regular calendar of industry events. The newest vehicles in the fleet, with 2+1 recliners, per-seat charging and blackout curtains, driven by formally dressed chauffeurs. GST tax invoices are issued within twenty-four hours and Proforma Invoices are available for purchase-order approval through our corporate travel desk. For executive groups, the Force Urbania is the premium option, and it handles the ghat descent noticeably better than most vehicles its size.

Budget Package

For friend groups and student batches, a 12 or 13 seater at Rs 22 per kilometre works out to roughly Rs 650 per person for the one-way run, against three separate cabs costing several times that once driver allowances are counted over 355 kilometres. Vehicles are standard AC with 2+1 push-back seating, overhead racks, Bluetooth audio and full-length curtains. Fuel is included and the quote is garage-to-garage. With no permit to pay for, a bangalore to mangalore one way tempo traveller is among the cleanest quotes we issue.

Luxury and Group Package

For larger movements and travellers who would rather arrive rested, the luxury tempo traveller bangalore tier delivers high-back recliners with footrests, dual-zone climate control, individual reading lights, per-seat USB charging and premium audio, with the Force Urbania at the top of the range. On a seven-hour run ending in a ghat descent, the seat is worth more than it sounds. A 17 seater tempo traveller bangalore to mangalore carries a full temple committee or college batch, and beyond eighteen our mini bus rental in Bangalore and bus rental in Bangalore cover twenty to fifty seats.

Other Popular Tempo Traveller Routes from Bangalore

Mangalore is the gateway to the whole Karnataka coast, and several of these connect directly to it. Each is available as a tempo traveller for outstation bangalore booking on the same terms.

Bangalore to Udupi, 400 km

Sixty kilometres north of Mangalore on the same road, and often added to a Mangalore booking rather than taken separately. The Sri Krishna temple, Malpe beach and the boat to St Mary's Islands with its basalt columns. Also the origin of the Udupi restaurant tradition, which is reason enough for some groups.

Bangalore to Chikmagalur, 250 km

The same NH75 corridor as far as Hassan, then north into coffee country. Mullayanagiri, Baba Budangiri and Hebbe Falls. No permit needed, and it combines easily with Mangalore into a hills-and-coast circuit the same vehicle covers without a change.

Bangalore to Gokarna, 480 km

Further up the same coast, with Om Beach, Kudle and the Mahabaleshwar temple. Quieter than Goa and a natural extension for groups wanting more coastline. Often run as a Mangalore, Udupi and Gokarna circuit over four or five days.

Bangalore to Coorg, 265 km

The Kodagu run through coffee estates to Madikeri, with Abbey Falls, Dubare elephant camp and the Namdroling monastery. It also sits on the Sampaje ghat road, which is one of the alternative descents to Mangalore when Shiradi is closed.

Bangalore to Goa, 590 km

The long coastal run, usually overnight so the group wakes near the beach. Standing headroom and reclining seats matter more here than anywhere else. Larger parties often prefer the Volvo bus rental in Bangalore for the overnight leg.

How to Book Your Bangalore to Mangalore Tempo Traveller

Booking a vehicle for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Four steps, start to finish.

Step 1: Contact Tejas Travels

Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell us your travel date, your Bangalore pickup location, which can be an area or a landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park, your destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers and your preferred vehicle. If the pickup is from KIA airport, include the flight number: the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing automatically for delayed flights. For luxury vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes or Rolls-Royce, mention the occasion as well, whether corporate, wedding or VIP event, so the team can assign the best-condition vehicle and, where required, arrange formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2: Receive Your Written Quote

A written quote reaches you by WhatsApp or email within two hours of your enquiry. It itemises every charge: the vehicle hire rate, whether per kilometre or as a flat package, the driver allowance at Rs 400 to 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class, applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit that applies, such as Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad or Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati. No permit applies to Mangalore, which stays within Karnataka throughout. Nothing is quoted verbally only. Everything is in writing before you confirm. Corporate clients who need the figure for reimbursement can request a Proforma Invoice at this stage. If you want to weigh up two vehicle classes against each other, ask for both quotes at the same time.

Step 3: Confirm Your Booking and Pay the Advance

Once the written quote works for you, confirm by WhatsApp or phone. An advance of 15 to 20 percent locks in the booking. Pay by UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link. Your advance receipt arrives within thirty minutes. The confirmation that follows carries the driver's name and mobile number, the vehicle registration, the departure time, the pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing. For luxury vehicles such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series or Mercedes S-Class, the advance may be higher, because the fleet is limited and Bangalore peak dates, meaning the November to February wedding season and New Year, book out early.

Step 4: Your Driver Arrives Early

Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point fifteen minutes before the scheduled departure, and calls you thirty minutes ahead as a courtesy. For KIA airport transfers he coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready, and for wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire. Through the journey he handles routing, toll payments and Bangalore traffic navigation. At the end of the trip the balance is settled after deducting the advance, with any additional kilometres or hours billed at the rate agreed upfront.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote within two hours.

Payment Methods

Tejas Travels accepts every major digital and traditional payment method, both for the advance and for the final settlement at the end of the trip.

UPI is the fastest route and the one we recommend for all advance deposits. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay are all accepted, and confirmation is instant on receipt.

Bank transfer by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS suits corporate clients and any advance above Rs 5,000. IMPS clears instantly; NEFT can take up to two hours.

Credit and debit cards on Visa, Mastercard and RuPay are accepted through a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email, valid for both the advance and full payment.

Net banking from all major Indian banks works through the same payment link by WhatsApp or email, and is the preferred route for Bangalore IT corporates running purchase-order based approvals.

Cash is accepted for the balance at the end of the trip, with a receipt issued. The advance itself must be digital for the booking to be confirmed.

Corporate credit is available to registered corporate accounts on 30-day terms, with monthly consolidated invoicing on request.

A note on luxury vehicles: for the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class, a higher advance may be required, given limited fleet availability in Bangalore and demand through the wedding season.

Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy is tiered, fair and transparent, and every term is confirmed to you in writing at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Mangalore Tempo Traveller

The bangalore to mangalore tempo traveller price starts at Rs 9,800 one way for a 10 seater, based on Rs 28 per kilometre across 355 kilometres. A 12 or 13 seater at Rs 22 per kilometre works out lower per head, and 17 and 18 seaters run from Rs 30 to Rs 34 per kilometre. All rates are garage-to-garage with fuel included. Driver allowance of Rs 500 to 600 per day, tolls and parking are billed separately and quoted upfront. There is no permit charge on this route.

Seven to eight hours door to door, including two breaks. The first 240 kilometres to Sakleshpur are straightforward four-lane highway. The Shiradi Ghat descent that follows is deliberately slow in a loaded vehicle, and the final run through Uppinangady and Puttur into a compact city road network adds time in the afternoon. Departing between half past five and seven puts you in Mangalore in the early to mid afternoon.

No. Mangalore is in Karnataka, so the whole journey runs on the standard state permit with no border check post, no extra paperwork and nothing additional to pay. It is one of the simplest long routes we run to arrange at short notice. Permits become relevant only on interstate routes such as Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati or Goa.

Much of Shiradi Ghat has been concreted in recent years and it is in considerably better shape than its old reputation suggests, but it remains a 25 kilometre descent through rainforest that is vulnerable to heavy rain, landslides and periodic repair work. When it closes, traffic diverts either to Charmadi Ghat via Mudigere, which is narrower with tighter hairpins and harder in a long vehicle, or to Sampaje Ghat via Madikeri, which is longer but easier. Our drivers check conditions before every departure and we will tell you at booking if a diversion looks likely.

There is no legal night restriction on NH75, unlike the Bandipur stretch on the Wayanad and Ooty routes. Practically, though, most experienced drivers prefer to complete the ghat section in daylight: the bends are sharp, visibility drops sharply in mist, and wildlife crossings are common at dusk. We plan departure times so the descent is done before dark wherever possible, which is the main reason we push for an early morning start on this route.

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons groups book a tempo traveller for this route rather than cabs. Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya sit inland of Mangalore and can be woven into the outbound leg or done as a day from the city; Kateel is close by; Udupi is sixty kilometres north with Malpe beach and the St Mary's Islands boat alongside it. The circuit is built around temple timings rather than driving times. Tell us at booking and the itinerary is planned properly rather than improvised.

Yes. On a round-trip booking the driver stays with your group throughout and handles the beaches, temples, Pilikula and the Udupi and pilgrimage runs. Local kilometres are added to the garage-to-garage total at the same per-kilometre rate, and a night halt allowance applies for each overnight stay. One local quirk worth knowing: the Sultan Battery ferry to Tannirbhavi carries passengers only, so the vehicle goes round by road and meets the group on the other side.

Yes, on every seating variant. Because the vehicle returns empty, a bangalore to mangalore one way tempo traveller is billed garage-to-garage, meaning the return leg forms part of the distance calculation. Groups returning by train or by flight from Mangalore International often still find the round trip better value, particularly since local sightseeing needs a vehicle on hand. Round trips carry a 10 to 15 percent saving over two separate one-way bookings.

October to February is the most comfortable window, with clear weather, calm seas and good conditions through the ghat. March to May is hot and humid on the coast but the beaches are quieter. June to September is the south-west monsoon, when the Ghats are spectacular and the waterfalls along Shiradi are at their best, but this is also when road closures and landslide diversions are most likely and sea activities shut down. Build extra time into a monsoon booking.

An advance of 20 percent confirms the booking and holds the vehicle for your date, paid by UPI, bank transfer or card link, with the receipt issued within thirty minutes. Tejas Travels is GST registered and issues a tax invoice with GSTIN, vehicle details and a full fare breakdown within 24 hours of trip completion. A Proforma Invoice can be issued in advance for purchase-order approval. See our corporate travel services for account setup.
