Sri Krishna Temple, Udupi
The Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is the defining landmark of the town and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in South India, drawing hundreds of thousands of devotees annually for the darshan of Lord Krishna through the distinctive nine-holed silver window known as the Kanakana Kindi. The temple was founded in the thirteenth century by the philosopher-saint Sri Madhvacharya, who is believed to have received the idol of Lord Krishna from inside a ball of clay within a ship's ballast, and it has been in continuous worship ever since under the management of the eight Vaishnava maths that rotate custody of the temple on a two-year cycle, a practice known as Paryaya. The elaborate daily worship schedule begins at four in the morning and continues with fourteen worship sessions through the day, and the feeding of devotees at the temple's community kitchen is on a scale that few temples in India match. The temple's architecture, with its gopuram, decorated chariot and the sacred tank of Madhva Sarovara, occupies the centre of the town and the surrounding Car Street is lined with the eight maths and their distinctive carved facades. Every traveller on a Bangalore to Udupi taxi booking plans their arrival time around the preferred worship session.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Nelamangala
Western city exit
The opening stage of the Bangalore to Udupi cab journey covers around 30 kilometres from the city to Nelamangala, the main junction town on Bangalore's western edge where the NH 75 toward Hassan, Mangalore and the coast separates from the NH 48 northward. This stretch passes through Yeshwantpur and the western suburbs and the road conditions and traffic levels depend significantly on departure time. Weekday mornings before six-thirty and weekend mornings before five are the cleanest windows for clearing this section before the commuter and outbound leisure traffic peaks. Nelamangala is a practical first stop for fuel, as this is typically the last fully stocked fuel point before the roads narrow into smaller towns toward Hassan. The town also has a cluster of well-known highway restaurants that open early and serve a good South Indian breakfast, making it a natural 20-minute pause before the longer run ahead. From Nelamangala the route continues southwest on NH 75 toward Kunigal and Hassan. The short highlight for this stage: Nelamangala - western city exit; NH 75 junction for Hassan and the coast.

Hassan
Hoysala heritage gateway
From Nelamangala, NH 75 runs southwest for approximately 155 kilometres to Hassan, passing through Kunigal and Channarayapatna on a road that is well-maintained and relatively straightforward for most of its length. The countryside through this section transitions from the dry plateau around Kunigal to the more irrigated and greener agricultural land of the Hassan district, and the drive is pleasant and unhurried once the city traffic is behind. Hassan is the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Hoysala temple circuit, with the famous Chennakeshava Temple at Belur 35 kilometres away and the Hoysaleswara Temple at Halebidu 32 kilometres away. Travellers who have scheduled more than one day for their Bangalore to Udupi trip often plan a detour to Belur or Halebidu on this leg, adding a heritage component to what would otherwise be a purely transit stretch. A lunch break in Hassan is practical, as the town has a good selection of restaurants and is roughly the halfway point of the total journey. The short highlight: Hassan - Hoysala heritage gateway; Belur and Halebidu temples detour; comfortable NH 75 highway stretch.

Sakleshpur
Coffee and cardamom estates
From Hassan, the route continues on NH 75 southwest toward Sakleshpur, covering around 55 kilometres as the road begins to climb into the Western Ghats and the landscape transitions from Hassan's open agricultural plateau to the dense, mist-covered coffee and cardamom estates of the Malnad region. Sakleshpur is a small hill town at around 900 metres altitude, well-known as a trekking base for the popular Sakleshpur to Kukke Subramanya Green Route trail and surrounded by coffee, pepper and areca nut plantations that are beautiful in any season. The drive from Hassan to Sakleshpur is one of the most scenic sections of the entire NH 75 route, and a tea or coffee break here at one of the roadside estate kiosks is genuinely worth the ten minutes it takes. Beyond Sakleshpur, the route enters the Bisle reserve forest and the descent through the Western Ghats begins. The short highlight: Sakleshpur - coffee and cardamom estates; entry to the Western Ghats; famous Green Route trekking base.

Dharmasthala
Major Shiva pilgrimage centre
The descent from Sakleshpur through the Charmadi Ghat to Dharmasthala and then toward the coast is the most dramatic and demanding section of the entire Bangalore to Udupi road journey, and it is the part most experienced drivers approach with greatest care. The Charmadi Ghat road drops sharply through the Western Ghats rainforest, with tight bends, limited overtaking room and, during the monsoon, the possibility of fallen debris and very limited visibility through rain and cloud. The views from certain points along the ghat are genuinely extraordinary, with the 180-degree panorama of forested ridges and valleys described by many travellers as the visual highlight of the entire drive. At the foot of the ghat, Dharmasthala is one of Karnataka's most important pilgrimage centres, a place where a Shaiva temple administration also supports Jain worship within the same complex, reflecting the unique pluralism of the coastal Karnataka coastal faith traditions. Stopping for darshan at Dharmasthala adds approximately 45 minutes to an hour to the journey but is recommended for pilgrims specifically travelling on a religious itinerary. The short highlight: Charmadi Ghat - dramatic 180-degree Western Ghats descent; Dharmasthala - major Shiva pilgrimage centre.

Udupi
Final coastal approach through areca nut and coconut plantations
The final stage from Dharmasthala to Udupi covers approximately 73 kilometres and passes through the distinctive landscape of coastal Karnataka, where the Western Ghats foothills flatten into areca nut and coconut plantations, red-laterite soil roads and the occasional glimpse of the Arabian Sea horizon. Karkala, approximately 40 kilometres from Udupi, is a rewarding stop on this stretch for its Gomateshwara Jain statue and the Chaturmukha Basadi, and many Bangalore to Udupi taxi travellers include a 30-minute visit here on the approach to the coast. Beyond Karkala the road descends to the coastal plain and the characteristic coastal Karnataka landscape of tiled-roof villages, fishing communities and roadside banana and coconut stalls signals the imminent arrival at Udupi. Most travellers departing Bangalore between four and five in the morning reach Udupi by noon to one in the afternoon, giving a full first afternoon for the Sri Krishna Temple darshan and Malpe Beach before the second day's deeper exploration. The short highlight: Karkala - Jain Gomateshwara statue; final coastal approach through areca nut and coconut plantations.

Bangalore to Udupi Tempo Traveller Packages
A pilgrimage circuit, a beach weekend and a Manipal family visit are three different journeys over the same 410 kilometres. These five structures exist so that groups pay for what they actually need. All include fuel, a police-verified driver, GPS tracking and round-the-clock support, and none carries a permit charge, because this route does not need one.
Coastal Pilgrimage Package
The most-booked structure on this route. Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Kollur Mookambika and the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha form one of the most travelled circuits in Karnataka, and doing it in one vehicle rather than several is what keeps a party of fourteen together across four temples in three districts. The package is built around darshan timings rather than driving times, with a driver who knows the queue systems and parking at each, and the ghat route chosen to suit the temples on your list. Two and three-day itineraries are planned in advance through our outstation vehicle booking desk.
Manipal Package for Families and Patients
Manipal sits five kilometres from Udupi and generates a steady, year-round flow of group travel from Bangalore that almost nobody caters for properly: parents travelling for admissions and convocations, extended families visiting students, and patients travelling with attendants to Kasturba Hospital. A 12 seater tempo traveller bangalore to udupi carries a full family with luggage for a hostel move-in, which no car arrangement manages. We build the schedule around appointment or ceremony times rather than highway times, hold the vehicle on site through the day, and arrange the ghat crossing in daylight. Convocation weekends book out weeks ahead, so give as much notice as you can.
Family and Beach Package
For groups treating Udupi as a coastal weekend, the vehicle is what makes an itinerary spread across fifty kilometres of coast workable: Malpe and the St Mary's Island jetty, Kapu and its lighthouse, Maravanthe north on the highway, and Kudlu Theertha inland. Grandparents get an aisle seat with an armrest across a seven-hour drive rather than a squeezed middle row, children have room to move, and the boot takes beach gear alongside everyone's luggage. Round-trip family bookings carry a ten percent discount. October to February is the season, and the St Mary's boats do not run through the monsoon.
Corporate and Luxury Package
Manipal's universities and hospitals generate genuine institutional travel from Bangalore, and the coast has become a credible offsite destination. The luxury tempo traveller bangalore tier delivers high-back recliners with footrests, dual-zone climate control, individual reading lights, per-seat USB charging and premium audio, with the Force Urbania at the top of the range and noticeably better through the ghat than most vehicles its size. GST tax invoices are issued within twenty-four hours and Proforma Invoices are available for purchase-order approval through our corporate travel desk. See the Force Urbania for executive groups.
Budget and Group Package
For friend groups, student batches and temple committees, a 12 or 13 seater at Rs 22 per kilometre works out to around Rs 750 per person for the one-way run, against three separate cabs costing several times that over 410 kilometres. Vehicles are standard AC with 2+1 push-back seating, overhead racks, Bluetooth audio and full-length curtains. With no permit to pay for, a bangalore to udupi one way tempo traveller is among the cleanest quotes we issue. Beyond eighteen, our mini bus rental in Bangalore and bus rental in Bangalore cover twenty to fifty seats.

How to Book Your Bangalore to Udupi Tempo Traveller
Booking a vehicle for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Four steps, start to finish.
Step 1: Contact Tejas Travels
Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell us your travel date, your Bangalore pickup location, which can be an area or a landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park, your destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers and your preferred vehicle. If the pickup is from KIA airport, include the flight number: the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing automatically for delayed flights. For luxury vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes or Rolls-Royce, mention the occasion as well, whether corporate, wedding or VIP event, so the team can assign the best-condition vehicle and, where required, arrange formal chauffeur attire.
Step 2: Receive Your Written Quote
A written quote reaches you by WhatsApp or email within two hours of your enquiry. It itemises every charge: the vehicle hire rate, whether per kilometre or as a flat package, the driver allowance at Rs 400 to 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class, applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit that applies, such as Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad or Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati. No permit applies to Udupi, which stays within Karnataka throughout. Nothing is quoted verbally only. Everything is in writing before you confirm. Corporate clients who need the figure for reimbursement can request a Proforma Invoice at this stage. If you want to weigh up two vehicle classes against each other, ask for both quotes at the same time.
Step 3: Confirm Your Booking and Pay the Advance
Once the written quote works for you, confirm by WhatsApp or phone. An advance of 15 to 20 percent locks in the booking. Pay by UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link. Your advance receipt arrives within thirty minutes. The confirmation that follows carries the driver's name and mobile number, the vehicle registration, the departure time, the pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing. For luxury vehicles such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series or Mercedes S-Class, the advance may be higher, because the fleet is limited and Bangalore peak dates, meaning the November to February wedding season and New Year, book out early.
Step 4: Your Driver Arrives Early
Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point fifteen minutes before the scheduled departure, and calls you thirty minutes ahead as a courtesy. For KIA airport transfers he coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready, and for wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire. Through the journey he handles routing, toll payments and Bangalore traffic navigation. At the end of the trip the balance is settled after deducting the advance, with any additional kilometres or hours billed at the rate agreed upfront.
Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote within two hours.
Payment Methods
Tejas Travels accepts every major digital and traditional payment method, both for the advance and for the final settlement at the end of the trip.
UPI is the fastest route and the one we recommend for all advance deposits. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay are all accepted, and confirmation is instant on receipt.
Bank transfer by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS suits corporate clients and any advance above Rs 5,000. IMPS clears instantly; NEFT can take up to two hours.
Credit and debit cards on Visa, Mastercard and RuPay are accepted through a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email, valid for both the advance and full payment.
Net banking from all major Indian banks works through the same payment link by WhatsApp or email, and is the preferred route for Bangalore IT corporates running purchase-order based approvals.
Cash is accepted for the balance at the end of the trip, with a receipt issued. The advance itself must be digital for the booking to be confirmed.
Corporate credit is available to registered corporate accounts on 30-day terms, with monthly consolidated invoicing on request.
A note on luxury vehicles: for the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class, a higher advance may be required, given limited fleet availability in Bangalore and demand through the wedding season.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Udupi Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to udupi tempo traveller price starts at Rs 20,500. All rates are garage-to-garage with fuel included. Driver allowance of Rs 500 to 600 per day, tolls and parking are billed separately and quoted upfront. There is no permit charge on this route.
Seven to eight hours including two or three breaks, with actual driving time closer to six and a half in good conditions. The first 240 kilometres to Sakleshpur are straightforward four-lane highway. The ghat descent that follows is deliberately slow in a loaded vehicle, and the coastal run after it is easy. Departing between half past four and six puts you in Udupi around midday or early afternoon.
No. Udupi is in Karnataka, so the whole journey runs on the standard state permit with no border check post, no additional paperwork and nothing extra to pay. At 410 kilometres this is the longest fully intrastate route we operate, which makes it unusually simple to arrange at short notice for its length. Permits become relevant only on interstate routes such as Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad or Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati.
It depends on your itinerary and we decide it before Hassan. Shiradi Ghat is the NH75 descent from Sakleshpur to Gundya, wider, largely concreted and the steadier of the two, which makes it our usual recommendation for a loaded 17 seater. Charmadi Ghat is a separate road branching earlier at Mudigere and descending to Belthangady, with tighter bends and less overtaking room but a spectacular ridge panorama, and it puts you at Dharmasthala directly. Pilgrimage groups usually take Charmadi; groups going straight to the coast take Shiradi.
There is no legal restriction, but it is not recommended and experienced drivers on this corridor avoid it. Both ghats have sharp bends, limited lighting, active repair sections and the possibility of fallen debris, particularly during and after the monsoon when cloud can reduce visibility to a few metres. We plan departure times so the descent happens in daylight, which is the main reason we push for an early morning start rather than a late one on this route.
Not all year, and this catches out a great many groups. Ferries from Malpe are suspended through the monsoon, roughly June to September, and are also cancelled on rough-sea days outside that window, so check before building the island into a fixed itinerary. The crossing takes about fifteen minutes each way and services are regulated by the coastal authority. The boats carry people rather than vehicles, so your tempo traveller waits at the Malpe jetty while the group crosses.
Fourteen worship sessions run from four in the morning, so it is worth deciding which one you want and planning arrival around it rather than turning up and hoping. Darshan is taken through the Kanakana Kindi, the nine-holed silver window, which means the queue moves differently from an open-sanctum temple. Car Street around the complex is narrow and largely pedestrian, so your driver parks outside and the group walks in. During the Paryaya, held every two years in January, crowds are very large and need advance planning.
Yes, and this is the most common reason groups book a tempo traveller on this route rather than cabs. Dharmasthala sits on the Charmadi line, Kukke Subramanya is reachable from the same corridor, and Kollur Mookambika is around 80 kilometres north of Udupi. The full circuit works as a two or three-day round trip built around darshan timings rather than driving times. Tell us the temples on your list at booking and the ghat route and overnight halts are planned to suit them.
Regularly, and it is one of our steadiest bookings on this route. Manipal is five kilometres from Udupi and draws family groups from Bangalore all year for admissions, hostel move-ins, convocations, parent visits and appointments at Kasturba Hospital. A 12 seater carries a full family with luggage for a move-in, which no car arrangement manages. We build the schedule around the appointment or ceremony rather than the highway, and hold the vehicle on site through the day. Convocation weekends book out weeks ahead.
An advance of 15 to 20 percent confirms the booking and holds the vehicle for your date, paid by UPI, bank transfer or card link, with the receipt issued within thirty minutes. Tejas Travels is GST registered and issues a tax invoice with GSTIN, vehicle details and a full fare breakdown within 24 hours of trip completion. A Proforma Invoice can be issued in advance for purchase-order approval, which is standard for institutional bookings to Manipal. See our corporate travel services for account setup.
