Saavira Kambada Basadi
The thousand-pillar basadi, properly the Tribhuvana Tilaka Chudamani, completed in 1430 and the finest Jain structure on this coast. The hall carries something close to a thousand granite pillars and the celebrated feature is that no two carry the same carving - figures, geometric bands, floral work, each column different. The tiered roof shows the coastal Tulu style rather than a Deccan one. A manastambha stands in front. Visit in the morning when the light comes into the hall properly; allow an hour and look up as well as around.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Hassan
Base of the Hoysala Belt
The route leaves Bangalore northwest onto NH 75, and the Nelamangala junction is the only stretch that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past it before 7:00 AM. Yediyur, twenty-five kilometres beyond Kunigal, has the best breakfast cluster on this highway. Channarayapatna is where the Bahubali circuit properly begins: Shravanabelagola lies twelve kilometres off the highway, with the fifty-seven foot Gommateshwara of around 981 CE on Vindhyagiri, the oldest and largest of the five Karnataka monoliths. The climb is about six hundred and fifty barefoot steps, so it is a half day rather than a stop - worth building into the outbound leg deliberately if the circuit is your purpose.

Kottigehara
Junction of the Charmadi Ghat
Belur comes thirty-five kilometres beyond Hassan with the Chennakeshava temple, UNESCO-inscribed in 2023 and carrying bracket figures among the finest sculpture in India. Chikmagalur follows and the country turns to coffee - the Baba Budan hills to the north are where Indian coffee began. Beyond Chikmagalur the road runs west through Mudigere into proper Malnad, winding continuously through estate and forest, and Kottigehara is where the Charmadi ghat turns down toward the coast. This is where our drivers confirm the ghat position; Charmadi is narrow, steep and quick to close for landslip risk, and Shiradi is the alternative.

Venur
Bahubali of the Phalguni
The Charmadi descent drops through forest in a series of tight hairpins and is one of the more beautiful roads in Karnataka - not a road for a long wheelbase, and one to be doing in daylight. At the bottom the country changes completely into coastal Dakshina Kannada: humid, dense, areca and coconut where there was forest. Ujire comes first, eight kilometres short of Dharmasthala, where a thirty-nine foot Bahubali stands on Ratnagiri hill above the temple town - the newest of the monoliths, installed in 1973 and carved at Karkala. Belthangady follows, and then Venur on the Phalguni, where a thirty-five foot figure raised in 1604 stands in a village with almost nothing else in it. It is the quietest stop of the circuit and often the one people remember.
Moodabidri
Jain Kashi of Karnataka
Fifteen kilometres of coastal plain road through areca gardens and paddy, flat and easy after the ghat. The landscape here is Tulu Nadu proper - tiled roofs, temple tanks, and the particular density of green that this coast has. Moodabidri is a working town rather than a heritage site set apart, and the basadis stand among ordinary streets - which is part of what makes it interesting. The Saavira Kambada Basadi is the principal one; the Jain Math holds the Dhavala manuscripts, and Chowta Palace is a short walk. Karkala is twenty kilometres north. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Moodabidri by around 1:30 PM.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Moodabidri Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams heading to the coast for offsites and annual outings, frequently combining Moodabidri with Mangalore or a Sakleshpur plantation stay. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate tempo traveller bangalore vehicle stays with your team across the Moodabidri, Karkala and coastal legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Heritage Package
The most common booking on this corridor. Families travelling together, community associations and heritage societies of ten to sixteen, covering Moodabidri, Venur and Karkala over two to three days, often adding Dharmasthala or a coastal day. Itineraries are built around temple timings and the light for photography rather than driving hours, and the driver is briefed for long stops. College and school history groups book the same structure with Soans Farm added.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides whether the trip happens, which describes many association and student bookings. Non-AC 9 to 14 seater tempo travellers, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The tempo traveller per km rate bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 680 kilometre round trip the saving across a full vehicle is real. One honest caveat: the coastal side stays humid for most of the year, so we quote AC and non-AC together and let the organiser weigh it. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury Package
Our premium tempo travellers, with fewer and wider push-back seats, more legroom, better cabin insulation and upgraded interiors. On a route with a thirty-kilometre ghat descent at its midpoint and narrow coastal roads at its end, better seating and suspension are practical rather than decorative. Suited to senior management travel and milestone family trips. For a further step up, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration covers the same circuit with a monocoque body and a smoother ride.
Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller rental bangalore fleet runs 9, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations. Every category operates from the same Bangalore base, so a change in headcount after booking usually means a change of vehicle rather than a new booking.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium alternative on the same circuit
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, the next size up and still comfortable on these roads
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, workable to Moodabidri but restricted in the old town lanes and on the Venur road
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle is seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why the Moodabidri run is planned as an early-morning daytime drive with proper meal halts rather than an overnight haul. On a route whose midpoint is a ghat descent through high-rainfall forest, crossing in daylight with a rested driver is the only sensible way to operate.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border — not applicable on the direct Moodabidri route, which stays within Karnataka
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the tempo traveller leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. That distance is already built into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you settle.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the entire fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Moodabidri Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to moodabidri distance by road is approximately 340 kilometres via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, the Shiradi Ghat, Uppinangady and Venur, which is the route we run. That is 7 to 8 hours of driving before meal halts. A 5:30 AM departure crosses the ghat in good light and puts most groups in Moodabidri by mid to late afternoon.
Pricing starts from around Rs 17,500. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Charged separately at actuals are toll and parking, additional driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and every charge appears as a line item in the written quote you receive within 2 hours.
No. The route stays entirely within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit or state tax on this trip, which keeps the billing simpler than on our Kerala and Tamil Nadu corridors. If your itinerary extends beyond the state, that permit appears as a separate line in the written quote before you confirm.
It is a thirty-kilometre descent on NH75 between Sakleshpur and Gundya, rebuilt in concrete and in far better condition than its reputation suggests. From June to September it takes very heavy rain, and landslides, fallen trees and short closures are possible. We check conditions before every monsoon departure and flag the risk at the quote stage. A tempo traveller takes the descent comfortably and has more room to manoeuvre than a coach if a diversion is needed.
Yes, and this is the main practical reason groups pick this size here. The basadis stand along narrow lanes in the old town, and the roads to Venur and Karkala were never built for coach traffic. A tempo traveller sets the group down at the gate rather than several streets away and covers the whole circuit without a second local vehicle, which matters across two days of walking in coastal humidity.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking and holds the specific vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Festival dates commit early, so for those a higher advance may be requested.
Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same vehicle and driver remain with you throughout, covering Moodabidri, Venur at thirty kilometres, Karkala at twenty, Dharmasthala at sixty-five, and any onward leg to Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one figure.
Two days covers Moodabidri and Venur, down on day one and back on day two, though it leaves little slack. Three days is the standard booking and brings Karkala and a coastal afternoon comfortably in. Four days lets you add Dharmasthala or continue north to Udupi without rushing. Both travel days are long, so every extra night buys sightseeing rather than driving.
Both handle the roads. The tempo traveller is the better fit up to about eighteen passengers: it costs less per day, moves more easily through the old town lanes and parks closer to the basadis. Above eighteen a 20 to 24 seater mini bus is the right answer and remains comfortable on this circuit. We will tell you which suits your headcount when you enquire, and can quote both if you are between the two.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, passenger count and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours. Confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
