Jog Falls
The Sharavathi reaches the edge of a basalt escarpment and drops 253 metres in a single unbroken plunge, making it the tallest plunge waterfall in India. It splits into four named columns. Raja falls clean and vertical in one sheet. Roarer strikes a ledge partway down and explodes outward with the noise that names it. Rocket shoots out in separate jets. Rani slips down the rock face in a quieter, lace-like veil. The new viewing tower, upgraded entry gate and walking paths have made the site far better organised than it was. Arrive between 8 and 11 in the morning, because by afternoon the valley routinely fills with cloud.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Tumakuru
Kalpataru Nadu, the Land of the Coconut
Tumakuru earns its nickname honestly. The district is one of the largest coconut producers in India and the palm dominates every field and roadside for the next hundred kilometres. The town is best known for the Sri Siddaganga Mutt, which has fed and educated thousands of children free of charge for over a century. Nearby, the rock fortress of Devarayanadurga rises out of the plain with its Yoganarasimha and Bhoganarasimha temples and the Namada Chilume spring at its base. For our purposes it is the natural first halt, roughly ninety minutes out, with good vegetarian restaurants on the bypass serving thatte idli and filter coffee. Most bangalore to jog falls cab trips break here before leaving the four-lane highway for the NH 206 Malnad corridor.

Kadur and Birur
Doorway to Coffee Country
Kadur and its neighbour Birur, twelve kilometres apart, form the gateway to the Chikkamagaluru coffee belt. Turn left here and you are in Chikkamagaluru within an hour, in the hills where coffee was first planted in India by Baba Budan in the seventeenth century. Stay straight and you continue to Jog. The landscape is transitional and rather beautiful, with dry-zone scrub giving way to plantation greenery. Birur is a road and rail junction with a busy grain market, and the Amruteshwara temple at Amruthapura, another fine Hoysala building from 1196 CE, lies fifteen kilometres north. Roadside stalls here sell locally roasted coffee powder and it is worth stopping for a cup.

Bhadravathi
Steel City of Karnataka
Bhadravathi is Karnataka's original industrial town. The Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant was set up here in 1923 under the guidance of Sir M Visvesvaraya, using iron ore from Kemmangundi and charcoal from the surrounding forests, making this small Malnad town one of the earliest heavy-industry centres in southern India. The Mysore Paper Mills followed. Both have declined, but the industrial skyline and planned colony layout still tell the story. The Lakshmi Narasimha temple here is a superb Hoysala building from around 1250 CE, with three shrines and dense wall sculpture, and far less crowded than Belur or Halebidu.

Shivamogga
Gateway to Malnad
Shivamogga is the district headquarters and the largest city on the route after Tumakuru, sitting on the banks of the Tunga. It is the commercial heart of Malnad and the last place with full hospital, banking and shopping infrastructure before the falls. Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, fourteen kilometres out on the Thirthahalli road, lets you watch forest department elephants being bathed in the Tunga each morning, and Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari on the Sagara road is small but well run. Shivamogga is also the natural overnight point if you left Bengaluru late, and a bangalore to shimoga cab that extends to Jog the next morning splits this journey comfortably.

Sagara
Areca Town and Seat of the Keladi Nayakas
Sagara is the last proper town before the falls and the base most travellers actually stay in. It is a prosperous areca nut and spice trading centre, and the Sunday market is worth an hour if your timing lines up. Historically this was the heartland of the Keladi Nayakas, whose temples at Ikkeri and Keladi are both within ten kilometres. The town has a relaxed Malnad character of tiled roofs, old trading houses and rain-tree shade. Practically, Sagara is where you should eat, refuel and buy anything you need, because options at the falls are limited and expensive. It is also the junction for the Sigandur bridge road and the Honnemaradu turn-off.

Jog Falls
Niagara of India
The last thirty kilometres from Sagara run through Talaguppa and Kargal, and this is the most beautiful driving of the entire route. The road narrows, the forest closes overhead and the Sharavathi Valley Lion-Tailed Macaque Sanctuary begins on both sides. Talaguppa is the railway terminus, fourteen kilometres from the falls. Kargal is the township built for the hydroelectric project workers. Then the road opens at the viewpoint and the gorge appears. Park at the main gate, walk to the viewing tower and give yourself at least two hours. Access to the stepped descent toward the base is restricted depending on water level and safety conditions, so check with staff on the day.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Jog Falls Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore teams running monsoon offsites, department outings and small retreats in the Sharavathi valley — an increasingly popular alternative to the Coorg circuit, particularly for groups wanting water activity at Honnemaradu. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. A corporate tempo traveller bangalore booking covers the twelve to eighteen band that most single-team movements come to, and on this circuit the vehicle size is a functional advantage because the backwater and valley roads reward it. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Group Package
Two or three families travelling together, or a friends’ group doing the classic monsoon Jog run over a long weekend. Designed around a loose itinerary, because Malnad weather rearranges plans regularly and a Sigandur ferry queue can take an hour longer than expected. The driver stays with the group, waiting is inside the quote, and the plan can shift on the day without renegotiation. One thing worth setting expectations on before you travel: the 1,400-step descent to the base of the falls is a serious climb back and not suitable for everyone, so plan for part of the group to stay at the viewing area.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Standard 12 to 14 seater AC tempo travellers, for the duration or point to point, no frills, clean vehicle, verified driver — the usual choice for college departments, community trips and photography groups, of which this region draws a great many in the monsoon. The tempo traveller rate per km in bangalore for the standard tier is the lowest of any vehicle in this seating band, and across a three or four day circuit with heavy daily running the saving against cabs is substantial. The budget tier is about vehicle specification and interior finish, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury Package
The luxury tempo traveller tier: wider push-back recliners in a reduced seat count, better sound insulation, individual AC vents and reading lights, and a more finished interior. On a route with seven to eight hours of driving at each end plus several long days of running in between, the difference is felt rather than admired. It is the tier we recommend for any itinerary longer than two days and for any group with elders travelling. Our luxury tempo traveller bangalore vehicles are held to a higher interior standard. For a step further in the same seating range, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration is the premium alternative on this route.
Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore
Our tempo traveller fleet covers 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations in standard AC and luxury trim. Around it we run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you to another category without restarting the process.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and luxury, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium option in a similar seating range
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, for larger groups on the main roads
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, which reach Jog on the highway but not the Sharavathi valley sections
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route we plan a daylight run with an overnight at Shivamogga, Sagara or Jog rather than driving through the night. NH69 is fine after dark, but the valley roads beyond Sagara are not, and there is no reason to attempt them at night.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where an itinerary crosses into another state
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. On the Jog circuit no interstate tax applies, since the whole route stays within Karnataka — a genuine saving against an Ooty or Tirupati trip of comparable length. The two items to watch are driver night halt charges, which apply for each night the vehicle stays out, and total kilometres, because a Jog itinerary generates far more daily running than the point-to-point figure suggests once Sigandur, Honnemaradu, Keladi and Murudeshwar are in the plan. Share the day-wise itinerary at enquiry and we quote the whole trip as one number.
Sigandur ferry charges, entry fees and any activity costs at Honnemaradu are paid directly by the group and are not part of the vehicle quote.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.
Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels
• Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
• Share your travel dates.
• Share your Bangalore pickup location — area or landmark such as Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagar, Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park. Multiple pickup addresses are fine on this vehicle.
• Share your destination and full day-wise itinerary, including whether Sigandur, Honnemaradu, Keladi, Dabbe Falls or Murudeshwar are in the plan.
• Share your number of passengers.
• Share your preferred vehicle: standard AC or luxury tempo traveller, and the seat count.
• Tell us if the Sigandur ferry crossing is in the plan, so the day is built around the timings rather than around it.
• Tell us if anyone in the group cannot manage the stairway to the base of the falls, so the day is planned accordingly.
• For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.
Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote
• Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.
• The quote clearly itemises every charge:
• Tempo traveller hire rate — per kilometre or flat package
• Driver allowance — Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class
• Applicable toll estimates
• Driver night halt charges for each night of multi-day hire
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST
• Interstate permit only where the itinerary leaves Karnataka. Not applicable on the Jog circuit.
• No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.
• Sigandur ferry charges, entry fees and Honnemaradu activity costs are paid directly by the group and are not part of the vehicle quote.
• For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.
• If you want to compare two vehicle classes — standard against luxury, or tempo traveller against Urbania — request both quotes at the same time.
Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance
• Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.
• A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and holds the vehicle on your dates.
• Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.
• Advance receipt within 30 minutes.
• Your confirmation includes:
• Driver name and mobile number
• Vehicle registration number
• Departure time
• Pickup location confirmation
• Full billing breakdown — all in writing
• August to December is the peak season on this route because of the water, and long weekends in that window book out well ahead. Confirm early rather than close to the date.
Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early
• Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
• For multiple pickup addresses, the driver confirms the sequence with you the previous evening.
• The vehicle is clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.
• The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.
• During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments and halt coordination, and advises on timings — the Sigandur ferry and the light at the falls both reward arriving at the right hour.
• At Jog the driver parks at the viewing area and stays with the vehicle for the duration of your visit.
• At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance.
• Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.
Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, itinerary and travel dates. Written quote in 2 hours.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Jog Falls Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to jog falls distance by road is approximately 385 kilometres, running northwest on NH48 to Nelamangala and then on NH69 — the Bengaluru–Honnavar highway — through Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arsikere, Kadur, Tarikere, Shivamogga, Anandapuram and Sagara. A tempo traveller covers it in 7 hours to 8 hours 30 minutes including two halts. The road is four to six lanes for most of the distance and the driving is straightforward, but it is a long day, which is why we plan this as a two to four day trip rather than a return run.
August to December, and this is the single most important thing to settle before you book. The Sharavathi is monsoon-fed and the flow at Jog is controlled by releases from the Linganamakki dam upstream. From August through October all four streams run and the falls are at full force; the flow holds well into December; by February and March it thins considerably, and by April and May the falls can be reduced to narrow ribbons against the rock. If Jog is the reason for the trip, travel in that window. The rest of the circuit — Sigandur, Keladi, Honnemaradu, Murudeshwar — is rewarding year round.
No, and we would not quote it as one. At 385 kilometres each way it means fifteen to seventeen hours of driving in a day to spend two hours at the falls, arriving and leaving in poor light. A two-day version with an overnight at Sagara or Jog works properly; three or four days lets you add Sigandur, Honnemaradu, Keladi and the coast at Murudeshwar without rushing. Groups pressed for time sometimes break the outbound at Shivamogga, which is a sensible compromise.
Tempo traveller fare starts around Rs 21,000. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
No. Jog is in Shivamogga district in Karnataka and the whole circuit — Sagara, Sigandur, Honnemaradu, Keladi, and the coast at Murudeshwar and Gokarna — stays within the state, so no interstate permit or interstate tax applies. That is a real cost difference against an Ooty or Tirupati trip of comparable length. Only a continuation into Goa would need a permit, which we arrange and itemise separately.
There is a stairway of roughly 1,400 steps from the viewing area to the base, and it is a serious undertaking — steep, slippery in the wet, and a much harder climb back than descent. It is closed at times for safety, particularly in heavy flow. It is not suitable for elderly members of a group or anyone with knee or heart concerns, and in heavy rain we would advise against it for everyone. Plan for part of the group to stay at the viewing area, which gives the better overall view of all four streams in any case.
Sigandur Chowdeshwari temple sits across the Linganamakki backwaters, and reaching it traditionally involves a ferry crossing that carries vehicles as well as passengers. The crossing itself, on flat water with forest on both banks, is the part people remember. Timings and capacity vary with the season and the water level, and queues build considerably on weekends and festival days, so this needs a day built around it rather than squeezed in. Tell us at enquiry if Sigandur is in the plan and the driver will advise on current arrangements before you travel.
Our tempo traveller hire bangalore fleet covers 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations in standard AC and luxury trim. Under eight passengers a car or SUV is more economical; above eighteen a mini bus works on the main roads, though the Sharavathi valley sections favour the smaller vehicle. Coaches reach Jog on the highway but cannot take the Sigandur approach, the Honnemaradu backwater roads or the Dabbe Falls track. For a larger group planning the full circuit we would rather run two tempo travellers than one coach.
Yes, and it is the most common extension. Murudeshwar is eighty kilometres west of Jog where NH69 reaches the coast, which turns the trip into waterfall, reservoir, forest and beach across three or four days. Kollur Mookambika is about ninety kilometres south and is often added by groups combining sightseeing with a temple visit; Gokarna, Honnavar and Idagunji lie further north. All of it stays within Karnataka. Share the day-wise plan at enquiry and we quote the whole circuit as one number.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Multi-day circuits need a minimum 7-day notice and luxury tier bookings 5 days for a full refund. If roads on your itinerary are closed by the authorities or the Sigandur ferry is suspended for water conditions, we treat it as force majeure with a full refund or a free date change. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com — our tt vehicle enquiry and WhatsApp lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
