BRT Tiger Reserve
The BRT Tiger Reserve is the single biggest reason travellers book a cab to BR Hills. Spread across more than 539 square kilometres, the reserve sits at the confluence of the Eastern and Western Ghats, which gives it an unusual mix of scrub, deciduous and shola forest inside one sanctuary. Jeep safaris here run at fixed morning and evening slots and offer a genuine chance to spot elephants, gaur, sloth bears, leopards and, if you are fortunate, a tiger. Birdwatchers are equally rewarded, with hornbills and several Western Ghats endemic species recorded inside the reserve. Because gate timings and safari slots are limited, arriving with a driver familiar with the schedule, rather than self-driving, makes it far easier to plan your day without missing the safari window or the forest checkpost cut-off time in the evening.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Ramanagara
Silk town and Sholay rocks
Around fifty kilometres into the drive, the route passes Ramanagara, widely known as the silk town of Karnataka for its cocoon markets, and equally famous among film buffs as the rocky filming location of the classic movie Sholay. The granite hills flanking the highway here are popular with rock climbers and offer a scenic first photo stop of the trip. A short break here for tea or breakfast at one of the highway restaurants is a common way to start the day before continuing further south.

Channapatna
Toy Town of Karnataka
Channapatna, reached shortly after Ramanagara, is internationally recognised for its lacquered wooden toys, a craft that has earned the town its nickname, the Toy Town of Karnataka. Roadside shops along the highway sell colourful hand-turned toys, dolls and kitchenware, making this an easy and popular shopping stop for families travelling with children. The craft has geographical indication protection and buying directly from these highway stores supports the local artisan community that has practised this woodworking tradition for generations.

Maddur and Mandya
Famous Maddur vade and sugar belt
Continuing along the highway, the route passes Maddur, a town every regular traveller on this road associates with the crisp, deep fried Maddur vade sold at roadside eateries. A little further is Mandya, the heart of Karnataka's sugarcane growing belt, recognisable by the fields lining both sides of the highway. This stretch is typically used as a short breakfast or snack break by most cab drivers running the Bangalore to Mysuru highway corridor.
Srirangapatna
Tipu Sultan's island fort city
Srirangapatna is a river island town on the Kaveri that once served as the capital of Tipu Sultan, and it remains rich in Mysore era history. The Ranganathaswamy Temple, the fort ruins and Tipu's summer palace, Daria Daulat Bagh, are all worth a short detour if your schedule allows, offering a glimpse into eighteenth century Mysore architecture and history. Many travellers choose to combine a BR Hills trip with a quick stop here since it adds very little extra travel time to the overall route.

Mysuru
City of palaces
Mysuru, roughly two thirds of the way to BR Hills, is one of Karnataka's most visited cities, home to the grand Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills and a well-known food and market culture. Depending on your itinerary and time available, you can either bypass the city on the ring road to save time or plan a short stop, especially if you intend to see the palace lit up in the evening on your return leg. Fuel stations, restaurants and rest stops are plentiful here, making it a natural checkpoint on a long drive.

Nanjangud
Temple town on the Kapila river
Nanjangud is best known for the Srikanteshwara Temple, one of the larger and older Shiva temples in the region, situated on the banks of the Kapila river. The town also marks the point where the route begins moving away from the main Mysuru city traffic towards the quieter roads leading to Chamarajanagar. A short stop here for temple visits or a quick meal is common among pilgrims travelling this route.

Chamarajanagar
Gateway to the BR Hills forest belt
Chamarajanagar is the last major town before the road climbs into the forest, and it is usually the final reliable point for fuel, ATMs, mobile network and last minute supplies before entering the reserve area. From here, the character of the drive changes noticeably, with tree cover thickening and the road beginning its gradual climb towards the hills, giving the first real sense of arriving in wildlife territory.

BR Hills
Destination - forest, temple and wildlife reserve
The final stretch into BR Hills winds through dense sal and deciduous forest before opening up at the hill top settlement near the Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple and the BRT Tiger Reserve entry points. Depending on your accommodation and safari booking, your driver will guide you to the forest checkpost, resort or camp, keeping in mind that most forest gates close well before nightfall. From here, your BR Hills itinerary of temple visits, safaris and nature walks can begin.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to BR Hills Route
Four package structures covering the same 180 kilometre route, differing in vehicle class, schedule and billing format.
Corporate Package
BR Hills has become a favoured offsite destination precisely because it is close, quiet and has genuine substance — the reserve, the temple and the Soliga community work give a team outing more to talk about than a resort pool. GST invoice against your PO, Proforma Invoice at quote stage, 30-day credit terms for registered accounts, and consolidated monthly billing. Executive-class 17 or 20 seater units with charging points at every row, and a driver who reports to your designated coordinator. For headcounts above 26 we plan a convoy with staggered ghat timings rather than sending everything up at once. For requirements beyond a single trip, our corporate travels division handles annual contracts on the same fleet.
Family and Temple Group Package
For extended families and darshan groups of ten to eighteen coming for the Biligiri Ranganathaswamy temple. Wide-door 14 seater with lower step height, flexible halt timing so elderly members are not rushed on the ghat or the temple steps, and an itinerary built around darshan timings rather than a fixed clock. Drop-and-collect at the temple parking area. This is the most-booked bangalore to br hills tempo traveller package we run, and it peaks sharply around the April car festival.
Budget Package
For trekking clubs, photography groups, college batches and birding societies where the per-head number decides whether the trip happens. Standard AC 12 or 17 seater, efficient two-night format, value-for-money meal halts at Kanakapura and Halaguru. Filling the vehicle is what makes this work: a fully occupied 17 seater brings the per-person round-trip transport cost down to a fraction of the stay, with the vehicle standing by between safari sessions.
Luxury Package
Maharaja-configuration tempo traveller with recliner seats, reading lights, LED entertainment, curtains and a cooler box. Guests booked into the premium eco-lodges on the hill generally want the transfer to match the stay, and a 6 am departure is more pleasant in a recliner. Note that on the ghat we recommend the 14 or 17 seater luxury variant over the largest configurations. To go a step further, the Force Urbania with its higher roof and premium cabin is the natural upgrade.
Our Services from Bangalore and Mysore
Tejas Tours and Travels operates a full ground-transport fleet out of both Bengaluru and Mysuru. Every service listed here is available on the BR Hills corridor and on every other route we cover. Our Mysuru base is 87 kilometres from BR Hills, which means short-notice vehicle support on this route is straightforward — useful on a hill where assistance is otherwise a long way off.
For smaller parties, our premium car rentals in Bangalore cover sedans, SUVs and luxury cars for four to six passengers, and the Innova Hycross is our most requested seven seater for family hill trips. For groups of nine to twenty-six, the tempo traveller rent Bangalore fleet is the core of what we do, with the Force Urbania rent Bangalore range covering luxury van requirements.
Larger groups move to our mini bus in Bangalore fleet for 21 to 35 passengers, or to full-size bus rental in Bangalore for 35 to 55, though on the Yelandur ghat we will always advise honestly on what the road suits. For premium long-distance group travel we operate a dedicated Volvo luxury bus fleet with pushback seating and onboard entertainment.
Beyond leisure travel, we run corporate travels Bangalore contracts for IT and manufacturing clients, airport transfer Bangalore services with live flight tracking for Kempegowda airport taxi pickups, structured employee transportation services Bangalore covering night shift cab service and tech park routes, and safe school transportation services for excursions and college tour bus rental, including nature-education trips to BRT and Bandipur.
Our outstation cabs Bangalore division handles every long-distance vehicle booking including this BR Hills route, and our wedding car rental Bangalore service supplies decorated cars and guest-transport buses for functions across Karnataka. Tour packages for BR Hills, MM Hills, Bandipur, Mysore and the wider South India circuit are available on request from both our Bengaluru and Mysuru operating bases.

How to Book a Tempo Traveller for Hire in Bangalore — Step by Step
Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.
Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels
• Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
• Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle.
• For BR Hills, share your stay location on the hill and any confirmed safari session timings, since the ghat and the forest gate hours mean the schedule has to be built backwards from them.
• Tell us if you plan to add Shivanasamudra Falls, Talakad, MM Hills or Chamarajanagar, since each changes the day plan and the kilometres.
• For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.
• For luxury vehicles, mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.
Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote
• Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.
• The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs per km or flat package), driver allowance, applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable. BR Hills is entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit applies on this route.
• Safari and forest entry fees are not included in the vehicle quote and are paid directly to the Forest Department or your resort.
• No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.
• For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.
• If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. On this route we will also tell you which size the ghat suits best.
Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance
• Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.
• A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.
• Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.
• Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.
• Confirmation includes driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing.
• Demand peaks around the April car festival at the temple, the February to April wildlife season, long weekends and the year-end holidays. Accommodation on the hill is limited, so confirm the stay before you lock the vehicle date.
Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early
• Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
• For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.
• The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled and ready.
• For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.
• The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.
• During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments and traffic navigation, completes the forest checkpost formalities on the ghat, drops the group at the temple and safari points, and plans the climb and descent in daylight.
• At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.
Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions - Bangalore to BR Hill Tempo Traveller
The road distance is 180 kilometres via Kanakapura, Malavalli, Kollegal and Yelandur. In a tempo traveller, allow 4 hours to 4 hours 45 minutes including a breakfast halt. The alternative via Maddur and the Mysore road is about 190 kilometres and usually slower out of the city. The final 24-kilometre ghat from Yelandur takes 45 minutes to an hour on its own.
It is narrow and continuously winding through reserve forest, with limited visibility around bends and elephants that genuinely do use the road. For a competent driver in a well-maintained vehicle it is straightforward, which is why we assign drivers to this corridor on hill-road experience and plan the climb and descent in daylight. A 12, 14 or 17 seater handles it comfortably; for 20 and 26 seaters we allow extra time.
No, and neither can any other private vehicle. Safaris inside the BRT Tiger Reserve run in Karnataka Forest Department vehicles and through Jungle Lodges at K Gudi. Your tempo traveller drops the group at the departure point, waits, and collects you afterwards.
A 12 seater AC tempo traveller starts at Rs 9,500. Toll, parking and GST are billed separately, and the final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage. Safari and resort costs are entirely separate.
The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, driver bata after 9:45 pm and GST are charged separately. Safari fees, forest entry charges and resort tariffs are paid directly by you. The final rental is based on total kilometres and hours calculated garage to garage. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels.
Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The advance can be paid by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or card via payment link, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance.
Yes. The ghat passes through the BRT Tiger Reserve and forest gates operate on daylight hours, with a checkpost partway up where your driver records the vehicle and passenger details. There is no fee to pass. A late departure from Bengaluru can leave a group facing a closed barrier at the foot of the hill, which is why we plan every BR Hills trip around a 6 am city departure.
Yes, and most groups do. The Biligiri Ranganathaswamy temple, the K Gudi safari base and the resort cluster are all within a short drive of each other on the hill. Two nights lets you fit the temple, two safari sessions, Dodda Sampige Mara subject to forest permission, and a Shivanasamudra Falls stop on the way home.
October to May is the season. February to April gives the best wildlife sighting rates as water sources dry up, and the hills stay cool and misty for much of the year. The April car festival at the temple is spectacular but crowds the hill and strains the limited accommodation, so plan around it deliberately in either direction.
Two nights and three days is the format that works. Day one is the drive with the temple in the afternoon, day two gives you a morning and evening safari plus the Soliga heritage stop, and day three is the return with Shivanasamudra Falls or Talakad. A single night is possible given the short drive but gives you only two safari sessions.
