Places to Visit in Kabini

Nagarhole National Park Jeep Safari

Nagarhole National Park Jeep Safari

The main reason most travellers book a Bangalore to Kabini cab in the first place, Nagarhole National Park, also called Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is one of Karnataka's premier tiger reserves and forms a single contiguous forest belt with Bandipur further south. Morning and afternoon jeep safaris run in fixed slots managed by the Karnataka Forest Department, and sightings regularly include elephants, gaur, spotted deer, and, with some luck, tigers or the elusive black leopard for which this belt has become known. Safari permits need to be booked in advance, particularly during the October to May peak season, and most resorts in Kabini handle this booking directly for their guests as part of the stay.

Safari permits need to be booked in advance, particularly during the October to May peak season, and most resorts in Kabini handle this booking directly for their guests as part of the stay.

Kabini Backwaters Boat Safari

Kabini Backwaters Boat Safari

Formed by the Kabini Dam backing up the river into the edge of the forest, the Kabini Backwaters offer a boat safari experience that is very different from the jeep drives, since animals come down to the water's edge to drink in full view of the slow-moving boat. Large herds of elephants are a common sight along the banks, particularly in the summer months when water levels drop and expose wide grassy patches, while marsh crocodiles and otters are visible closer to the boat itself. Sunrise and sunset slots offer the calmest water and the best light for photography, and many resorts run this as a complimentary activity alongside the jeep safari.

Kabini Dam (Beechanahalli)

Kabini Dam (Beechanahalli)

Built in 1974 near Beechanahalli village, the Kabini Dam has a water holding capacity of over 17 TMC and is what creates the wide backwaters that define this destination. Beyond its role as an irrigation and engineering structure, the dam area has become a habitat for more than two hundred and fifty species of birds, making it a popular stop for birdwatchers in addition to casual visitors looking for a scenic picnic spot. The open viewing area near the dam offers a clear look at the full stretch of water against the forested hills beyond, and is often combined with a stop at the nearby backwater viewpoint.

Karapura Elephant Viewing Point

Karapura Elephant Viewing Point

The sunset banks near Karapura are among the least commercialised spots in Kabini and have become a favourite among repeat visitors precisely because they feel untouched compared to the more popular viewpoints closer to the resorts. Large wild elephant herds are regularly spotted grazing along these banks in the late afternoon, especially during the dry months when the receding backwaters expose grassy patches close to the tree line. The area also has a few old forest bridges that make for atmospheric photography stops, and a short walk along the bank at dusk, accompanied by a naturalist, is one of the quieter ways to experience Kabini's wildlife away from vehicle traffic.

Rameshwara Temple

Rameshwara Temple

A modest but locally significant shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Rameshwara Temple near Kabini offers a quieter cultural counterpoint to the wildlife focused itinerary that dominates most visits here. The temple draws local devotees more than tourists, and its riverside setting gives it a peaceful character that pairs well with an early morning visit before the day's safari begins. It is not a major architectural landmark, but it rounds out a Kabini itinerary for travellers who want at least one stop that reflects the everyday religious life of the surrounding villages rather than just forest and water.

Kutta Village

Kutta Village

Sitting just across the border in Kodagu district, Kutta is a small village bordering the Nagarhole reserve and offers a cluster of homestays, coffee estate views, and access to trails that many Kabini based travellers use for a half day detour. The village is close to the Iruppu waterfalls, one of the more scenic cascades in this part of the Western Ghats, and the mix of coffee plantations and forest edge gives Kutta a distinctly different feel from the drier scrub visible around Kabini's main resort belt. It works well as an extension for travellers who have an extra day and want to combine Kabini with a taste of Coorg.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve

Bandipur Tiger Reserve

Connected to Nagarhole as part of the same larger forest corridor, Bandipur Tiger Reserve lies a short drive south of Kabini and is often added to a longer wildlife itinerary for travellers who want a second safari zone with a different terrain profile. Bandipur's drier deciduous forest supports large herds of Indian gaur and elephant, along with a healthy population of tigers and leopards, and its highway-adjacent boundary along NH766 makes a day trip from Kabini straightforward. Combining both reserves on the same trip roughly doubles the chances of a good wildlife sighting across the visit.

Coracle Ride on the Kapila River

Coracle Ride on the Kapila River

For a slower, more traditional way to experience the water here, a coracle ride on the Kapila River, a tributary that feeds into the Kabini system, offers a completely different pace from the motorised boat safaris. These round woven bamboo boats are steered by local boatmen using a single paddle, and the ride typically covers a short stretch of calm water close to the riverbank villages, giving a glimpse of rural life along the Kapila that most safari focused itineraries miss entirely. It is best treated as a relaxed half hour add-on rather than the centrepiece of a day, usually slotted in between a morning safari and an afternoon boat safari.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Kabini Route

Four package structures covering the same 220 kilometre route, differing in vehicle class, schedule and billing format.

Corporate Package

Kabini has become the default premium offsite destination for Bengaluru companies, and this package is built around it. GST invoice against your PO, Proforma Invoice at quote stage, 30-day credit terms for registered accounts, and consolidated monthly billing. Executive-class 17 or 20 seater units with charging points at every row, a driver who reports to your designated coordinator, and multi-vehicle convoys for headcounts above 26 — worth planning early, since the road beyond Hand Post is not suited to large convoys arriving after dark. For requirements beyond a single trip, our corporate travels division handles annual contracts on the same fleet.

Family Package

For multi-generational groups of ten to eighteen combining Kabini with Mysuru, Srirangapatna or the elephant camp at Balle. Wide-door 14 seater with lower step height, flexible halt timing so elderly members are not rushed, generous luggage space for camera gear, and a schedule built backwards from your confirmed safari sessions. The two-night, three-day format is what most families choose and it is the most-booked bangalore to kabini tempo traveller package we run.

Budget Package

For photography clubs, birding groups, college batches and friend circles where the per-head number matters. Standard AC 12 or 17 seater, efficient two-night format, value-for-money meal halts on the Mysore road. Filling the vehicle is what makes this work: a fully occupied 17 seater brings the per-person transport cost down to a fraction of the safari and stay budget, with the vehicle standing by between sessions.

Luxury Package

Maharaja-configuration tempo traveller with recliner seats, reading lights, LED entertainment, curtains and a cooler box. Kabini attracts a premium resort clientele, and this is the option for guests staying at the higher-end properties who want the transfer to match the stay. Suited also to visiting delegations and senior family groups. To go a step further, the Force Urbania with its higher roof and premium cabin is the natural upgrade on this route.

Our Services from Bangalore and Mysore

Tejas Tours and Travels operates a full ground-transport fleet out of both Bengaluru and Mysuru. Every service listed here is available on the Kabini corridor and on every other route we cover. Our Mysuru base is 70 kilometres from Karapura, which means short-notice vehicle support on this route is straightforward — useful on a road where breakdown assistance is otherwise thin.

For smaller parties, our premium car rentals in Bangalore cover sedans, SUVs and luxury cars for four to six passengers, and the Innova Hycross is our most requested seven seater for family wildlife trips. For groups of nine to twenty-six, the tempo traveller rent Bangalore fleet is the core of what we do, with the Force Urbania rent Bangalore range covering luxury van requirements.

Larger groups move to our mini bus in Bangalore fleet for 21 to 35 passengers, or to full-size bus rental in Bangalore for 35 to 55. For premium long-distance group travel we operate a dedicated Volvo luxury bus fleet with pushback seating and onboard entertainment.

Beyond leisure travel, we run corporate travels Bangalore contracts for IT and manufacturing clients, airport transfer Bangalore services with live flight tracking for Kempegowda airport taxi pickups, structured employee transportation services Bangalore covering night shift cab service and tech park routes, and safe school transportation services for excursions and college tour bus rental, including nature-education trips to Nagarhole and Bandipur.

Our outstation cabs Bangalore division handles every long-distance vehicle booking including this Kabini route, and our wedding car rental Bangalore service supplies decorated cars and guest-transport buses for functions across Karnataka. Tour packages for Kabini, Bandipur, Coorg, Mysore and the wider South India circuit are available on request from both our Bengaluru and Mysuru operating bases.

How to Book a Tempo Traveller for Hire in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•      Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•      Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle.

•      For Kabini, share your resort name and your confirmed safari session timings. We build the departure schedule backwards from the safari, not the other way round.

•      Tell us if you plan to add Mysuru, Srirangapatna, Bandipur or Nanjangud, since each changes the day plan and the kilometres.

•      For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

•      For luxury vehicles, mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•      Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•      The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs per km or flat package), driver allowance, applicable toll estimates including the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway toll, and any interstate permit if applicable. Kabini is entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit applies on this route.

•      Safari and forest entry fees are not included in the vehicle quote and are paid directly to the Forest Department or your resort.

•      No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

•      For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•      If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•      Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•      A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.

•      Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•      Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

•      Confirmation includes driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing.

•      Kabini demand peaks from March to May and again over long weekends and the year-end holidays, and safari slots go first. Confirm the resort and safari before you lock the vehicle date.

Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early

•      Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•      For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.

•      The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled and ready.

•      For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.

•      The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•      During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments and traffic navigation, drops the group at the safari departure point and waits, and plans all forest-area movement in daylight in line with night traffic restrictions.

•      At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Tempo Traveller Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both the advance booking and the final settlement at trip end.

•      UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI, Amazon Pay. Fastest method with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

•      Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS. Used by corporate clients and for advances above Rs 5,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•      Credit or debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•      Net banking — All major Indian banks, through a payment link on WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore IT corporate PO-based approvals.

•      Cash — Balance accepted at trip end. The advance must be digital for booking confirmation. Receipt issued. Note that ATMs are scarce beyond Mysuru, so carry what you need before Hand Post.

•      Corporate credit — 30-day credit terms for signed Bangalore corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

For premium and luxury vehicles, a higher advance may be required given limited Bangalore fleet availability and wedding season demand.

Cancellation Policy — Tempo Traveller Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation.

•      More than 72 hours before departure — No cancellation charge. 100 per cent of the advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days.

•      Peak dates — The March to May Kabini season, long weekends, Dasara and the year-end holidays require a minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.

•      Safari and resort cancellations — Forest Department and resort cancellation terms are separate from ours and are not within our control. Cancelling a safari does not automatically cancel your vehicle booking; tell us directly.

•      Force majeure — Bangalore bandhs, forest closures, fire-season restrictions on reserve access, road closures and traffic disruptions: 100 per cent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period.

•      Modifications — Date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.

How to cancel: call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference. Cancellation confirmation within 2 hours. Refund to the original payment method within the stated timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kabini Tempo Traveller

The road distance is 220 kilometres via the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway and then the Mysuru-Mananthavady road through H.D. Kote. In a tempo traveller, allow 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes including a breakfast halt. Leaving Bengaluru by 5:30 am makes a real difference on Friday and Saturday mornings.

No, and neither can any other private vehicle. Nagarhole National Park is closed to private traffic, with the gate and forest checkpost at Dommanakatte marking the boundary. All jeep and boat safaris run in Forest Department or resort vehicles. Your tempo traveller takes the group to the resort or the safari departure point, waits, and collects you afterwards.

The safari and the resort, always. Slots are limited and the March to May peak sells out weeks ahead, so the safari times are the fixed points your trip is built around. Once you have those confirmed, send them to us and we will schedule the departure backwards from your first session.

A 12 seater AC tempo traveller starts at Rs 11,000. Toll, parking and GST are billed separately, and the final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage. Safari and resort costs are entirely separate.

The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, driver bata after 9:45 pm and GST are charged separately. Safari fees, forest entry charges and resort tariffs are paid directly by you. The final rental is based on total kilometres and hours calculated garage to garage. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels.

Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The advance can be paid by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or card via payment link, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance.

October to May is the season. March to May is the peak wildlife window, when the receding backwaters draw animals into the open and sighting rates are at their highest, though it is also hot and the hardest time to secure a slot. December to February is cooler and very comfortable for the morning safari, but carry warm layers.

Two nights and three days is the format that works. Day one is the drive with an afternoon safari, day two gives you a morning jeep drive and an evening boat safari, and day three is the return with an optional Srirangapatna or Nanjangud stop. A single night gives you only two safari sessions and feels rushed after a five-hour drive.

Yes. Roads through and around the reserve are subject to night traffic restrictions to protect wildlife movement, and the approach roads around Karapura are unlit. We plan all arrivals and departures in daylight as a matter of policy, which is another reason the departure time from Bengaluru matters.

We operate 8 to 18 seater tempo travellers in Standard AC, Executive and Maharaja luxury configurations. For groups above 26 we move you to our mini bus or full-size bus fleet, though large vehicles are better suited to the main road than to some resort approach tracks. All vehicles carry valid all-India permits, GPS and first-aid kits.
