Places to Visit in Sakleshpur

Manjarabad Fort

Manjarabad Fort

Built by Tipu Sultan in 1792 in a distinctive eight pointed star shape, Manjarabad Fort sits on a hilltop about nine kilometres from Sakleshpur town and is the single most photographed landmark on this route. The unusual geometry was designed for artillery defence, and the climb up a short flight of steps opens onto sweeping views of coffee plantations, paddy fields, and the misty ridgelines of the Western Ghats on a clear morning. On monsoon days the fort disappears into cloud cover, which locals consider the best time to visit despite the reduced visibility, since the fort seems to float above a sea of fog. Entry is inexpensive and the visit itself takes under an hour, making it an easy first stop after checking into a homestay.

Bisle Ghat Viewpoint

Bisle Ghat Viewpoint

About 25 kilometres from Sakleshpur, the Bisle Ghat viewpoint sits inside a reserve forest at the meeting point of the Hassan, Kodagu, and Dakshina Kannada districts, and the watchtower here delivers one of the most dramatic panoramas in this part of the Ghats, layer upon layer of forested hills stretching toward the coast. The drive down to Bisle passes through dense shola forest and coffee estates, and the area is known among birdwatchers for hornbills and other Western Ghats endemics. Early morning visits before the mist burns off are the most rewarding, and the spot works well as a half day excursion combined with a stop at a nearby waterfall on the way back.

Shettihalli Rosary Church

Shettihalli Rosary Church

Also known as the floating or submerged church, the Shettihalli Rosary Church is a roofless 19th century structure that sits inside the backwaters of the Hemavathi reservoir. Built by French missionaries and abandoned when the dam submerged the surrounding village, the church re-emerges from the water every summer once the reservoir level drops, and stands partly flooded for the rest of the year, giving it an eerie, almost cinematic quality that has made it one of the most shared travel photographs from this route. The best time to see it fully exposed is between March and June, while the monsoon and post-monsoon months show only the upper arches above the waterline.

Magajahalli and Kadumane Waterfalls

Magajahalli and Kadumane Waterfalls

Sakleshpur's coffee estate belt hides several seasonal waterfalls, and Magajahalli and Kadumane are the two most visited, both tucked inside working coffee plantations a short drive from town. Magajahalli cascades over a series of rock steps and is easiest to reach right after the monsoon when the flow is strongest, while Kadumane sits deeper inside estate land and usually needs a local guide or estate permission to access safely. Neither fall is heavily commercialised, so visitors get a quieter, more natural experience than at larger tourist waterfalls elsewhere in Karnataka, though footwear with good grip is essential since the rocks stay slippery through most of the year.

Hemavathi Dam and Backwaters

Hemavathi Dam and Backwaters

The Hemavathi dam and its backwaters are what create the flooded look around Shettihalli church, and the reservoir itself is worth a stop for the wide, calm water framed by low hills. Boating is occasionally available depending on the season and local operators, and the drive along the dam road offers several spots to pull over for photographs of the sunset reflecting off the water. The reservoir also irrigates much of the farmland between Hassan and Sakleshpur, so the surrounding villages have a distinctly green, well-watered character compared to the drier plains closer to Bangalore.

Belur Chennakeshava Temple

Belur Chennakeshava Temple

About 40 kilometres from Sakleshpur, Belur's Chennakeshava Temple is one of the finest surviving examples of Hoysala architecture, built in 1117 CE to commemorate a military victory and covered almost entirely in intricate stone carvings of dancers, musicians, mythological scenes, and detailed friezes that run the length of the outer walls. The temple remains an active place of worship, and a guided walk around the base with a temple appointed guide, who points out specific bracket figures and narrative panels, adds considerably to the visit. Most Bangalore to Sakleshpur cab itineraries pair Belur with Halebeedu on the same day since the two towns sit only 16 kilometres apart.

Halebeedu Hoysaleswara Temple

Halebeedu Hoysaleswara Temple

Once the capital of the Hoysala Empire, Halebeedu is home to the twin shrined Hoysaleswara Temple, widely regarded as the pinnacle of Hoysala stone carving. Every wall of the temple is layered with rows of sculpted elephants, floral motifs, and Hindu mythological scenes carved into soft soapstone that has retained astonishing detail across nine centuries. Unlike Belur, this temple no longer holds regular worship, which means visitors can move around the entire structure at a slower pace to study the carvings without the crowd management seen at active shrines, making it a favourite stop for photographers and history enthusiasts alike.

Sakleshpur Green Route Railway Trek

Sakleshpur Green Route Railway Trek

The abandoned Kukke Subramanya to Sakleshpur railway trek, popularly called the Green Route, passes through more than fifty tunnels and bridges cut through dense rainforest and is one of the most sought after monsoon treks in South India. Permits are required and are managed through the local forest department, and the trek is typically done over two days with a night halt inside one of the tunnels or nearby camps. While this is a more adventurous addition to a standard sightseeing itinerary, several travellers extend their Sakleshpur cab booking specifically to fit in this trek, particularly between July and September when the waterfalls along the route are at their fullest.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Sakleshpur Route

Four package structures covering the same 220 kilometre route, differing in vehicle class, schedule and billing format.

Corporate Package

Sakleshpur is the most-requested destination for Bengaluru team offsites, and this package is built for it. GST invoice against your PO, Proforma Invoice at quote stage, 30-day credit terms for registered accounts, and consolidated monthly billing for companies running several outings a year. Executive-class 17 or 20 seater units with charging points at every row, a driver who reports to your designated coordinator, and multi-vehicle convoys for headcounts above 26. For requirements beyond a single trip, our corporate travels division handles annual contracts on the same fleet.

Family Package

For multi-generational groups of ten to eighteen doing Manjarabad, Sakleshwara Temple, an estate walk and Agni Gudda at an unhurried pace. Wide-door 14 seater with lower step height, flexible halt timing so elderly members are not rushed, generous luggage space, and an itinerary built around homestay meal times rather than a fixed clock. The two-night, three-day format is what most families choose and it is the most-booked bangalore to sakleshpur tempo traveller package we run.

Budget Package

For student groups, trekking clubs and first-jobber friend circles where the per-head number decides whether the trip happens. Standard AC 12 or 17 seater, efficient two-day format, value-for-money highway meal halts. Filling the vehicle is what makes this work: a fully occupied 17 seater brings the per-person round-trip cost below a private sleeper bus ticket, with the vehicle available to you at Bisle and the trailheads.

Luxury Package

Maharaja-configuration tempo traveller with recliner seats, reading lights, LED entertainment, curtains and a cooler box. Suited to senior travellers, wedding guest groups heading to estate venues around Sakleshpur, and clients booking premium plantation resorts who want the drive to match. To go a step further, the Force Urbania with its higher roof and premium cabin is the natural upgrade on this route.

How to Book a Tempo Traveller for Hire in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•      Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•      Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle.

•      For Sakleshpur bookings, also share your homestay or resort name and location pin so we can confirm which vehicle size can reach the property on the estate approach road.

•      For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

•      For luxury vehicles, mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•      Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•      The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs per km or flat package), driver allowance, applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). Sakleshpur is entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit applies on this route.

•      No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

•      For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•      If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•      Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•      A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.

•      Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•      Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

•      Confirmation includes driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing.

•      Sakleshpur is a long-weekend destination, so fleet availability tightens sharply around public holidays, the monsoon peak in August and the December to January window. Book early for those dates.

Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early

•      Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•      For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.

•      The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled and ready.

•      For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.

•      The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•      During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments and traffic navigation.

•      At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Tempo Traveller Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both the advance booking and the final settlement at trip end.

•      UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI, Amazon Pay. Fastest method with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

•      Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS. Used by corporate clients and for advances above Rs 5,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•      Credit or debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•      Net banking — All major Indian banks, through a payment link on WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore IT corporate PO-based approvals.

•      Cash — Balance accepted at trip end. The advance must be digital for booking confirmation. Receipt issued.

•      Corporate credit — 30-day credit terms for signed Bangalore corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

For premium and luxury vehicles, a higher advance may be required given limited Bangalore fleet availability and wedding season demand.

Cancellation Policy — Tempo Traveller Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Sakleshpur Tempo Traveller

The road distance is 220 kilometres via NH75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna and Hassan. In a tempo traveller, allow 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes including a breakfast halt at Yediyur and one comfort break. Leaving Bengaluru by 6 am makes a real difference, especially on Saturdays.

A 12 seater AC tempo traveller starts at Rs 11,500 for a two-day return itinerary. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage. Send us your dates, group size and homestay name on WhatsApp and you will have an itemized written quote within two hours.

The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, driver bata after 9:45 pm and GST are charged separately. The final rental is based on total kilometres and hours calculated garage to garage. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels.

Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The advance can be paid by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or card via payment link, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance.

Usually yes, but not always. Properties on the main Sakleshpur, Bisle and Hassan roads take any vehicle up to a 26 seater. Homestays two to eight kilometres inside plantations often have narrow gates, low branches and unpaved surfaces where a 12 or 14 seater is the practical limit, particularly in monsoon. Share your homestay name and location pin when you enquire and we will tell you honestly what will reach the door.

No. Sakleshpur is in Hassan district, Karnataka, the same state as Bengaluru, so no interstate permit or border tax applies on this route. Permits only come into play on routes such as Ooty in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad in Kerala or Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.

Two nights and three days is the format that works best. Day one is the drive with a Yediyur halt and Manjarabad Fort, day two covers Bisle Ghat or a trek plus an estate walk, and day three is the return with an optional Belur, Halebidu or Shravanabelagola stop. A single-night trip is possible but leaves very little time.

We operate 12, 14, 17, and 18 seater tempo travellers in Standard AC, Executive and Maharaja luxury configurations. For groups above 26, we move you to our mini bus or full-size bus fleet, subject to estate road access at the destination. All vehicles carry valid all-India permits, GPS and first-aid kits.

October to February gives the most comfortable touring weather, with clear views and cool mornings. June to September is the monsoon and the region is at its most beautiful, but expect slower driving, waterfalls running hard, leeches on the trails and occasional Ghat road closures. December to February also coincides with the coffee harvest.

Cancellation more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Charges then step up: 10 per cent at 48 to 72 hours, 25 per cent at 24 to 48 hours, 50 per cent at 12 to 24 hours and 75 per cent under 12 hours. If Tejas Travels cancels for any operational reason, you get a full refund within 2 working days or a substitute vehicle.
