Ooty Botanical Garden
Laid out in 1848 on the lower slopes of Doddabetta, the Botanical Garden runs across 55 acres of terraced lawns, glasshouses and an Italian-style formal section, with a fossilised tree trunk estimated at twenty million years old sitting quietly in the middle of it. It is the single best group destination in Ooty because it absorbs numbers without feeling crowded, and because everybody finds their own pace: photographers head for the fern house, children run the lawns, older travellers take the benches. Doddabetta Peak
At 2,637 metres, Doddabetta is the highest point in the Nilgiris and the obvious set piece of any Ooty itinerary. A telescope house at the summit lets you pick out Coimbatore on a clear day, and on a misty one, which is most days, you get something better: cloud moving through the tea below you at eye level. The approach is a short, steep spur off the Kotagiri road with tight parking at the top, so larger vehicles usually park on the lower shoulder and the group walks the last stretch. Go early. By eleven the summit is full and the view has usually closed in.
Nilgiri Mountain Railway — Toy Train
A UNESCO World Heritage site and the only rack railway still working in India, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway has been hauling itself up from Mettupalayam since 1908. Most groups do the shorter Ooty to Coonoor leg, roughly an hour and a half through tea gardens, tunnels and viaducts at a pace that lets you lean out and take everything in. Book well ahead: seats sell out weeks in advance in season and it is the one thing on an Ooty itinerary that cannot be arranged on the day. Rose Garden

Cancel between 12 and 24 hours before departure and the charge rises to 50 percent of the total trip fare, with the advance refunded less that deduction.
Cancel less than 12 hours before departure and the charge is 75 percent of the total trip fare. Any refund is minimal or nil depending on the trip value.
In the case of a no-show, where the vehicle has been deployed and the client is absent, the full trip fare is payable and no refund is due.
If Tejas Travels cancels, whether through a breakdown or force majeure, there is no charge whatsoever. You are refunded in full within 2 working days, or offered a substitute vehicle.
Special Cancellation Conditions
● Weddings: minimum 7 days' notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of the wedding date are non-refundable.
● Luxury cars: the Rolls-Royce, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class require a minimum of 5 days' notice for a full refund, given limited fleet and wedding season demand.
● Peak dates: New Year, Diwali and Bangalore long weekends require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for a full refund. Under 24 hours is non-refundable.
● Force majeure: Bangalore bandhs, traffic disruptions and road closures attract a 100 percent refund within 2 working days, regardless of the notice period.
● Modifications: date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions made more than 24 hours ahead are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.

A billing error or overcharge is refunded in full within 2 to 3 working days of verification, and a duplicate payment is returned in full within 2 to 3 working days of confirmation.
