The temple stands in the middle of a lake and is reached only by a small boat that visitors row across themselves — there is no causeway. Plan to arrive either mid-morning or after 3:30 PM, and allow an hour at the site. Photography is popular here; the afternoon light on the water is better than the morning.

No. Both routes stay entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit or border tax applies. If you extend the trip into Kerala for Wayanad or Guruvayur, or into Goa, permits are required and billed at actuals as separate line items.
