Places to Visit in Shirdi

Shri Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir
This is the principal reason millions travel to Shirdi each year. The Samadhi Mandir houses the mortal remains of Sai Baba and is the spiritual centrepiece of the entire town. The sanctum is adorned with white Italian marble and the life-size idol of Sai Baba draws devotees in enormous numbers throughout the day. The atmosphere of devotion, the fragrance of incense, and the collective prayers create an overwhelming spiritual experience. Darshan timings are structured and the complex also includes the Dwarkamai mosque where Sai Baba lived, the Chawdi where he slept on alternate nights, and Gurusthan where he was first sighted as a young man.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Tumkur
Spiritual hub
Tumkur is the first major town on the route and serves as an ideal early breakfast stop when you depart from Bangalore. The National Highway 48 connecting Bangalore to Tumkur is a well-maintained four-lane expressway that allows smooth driving. Tumkur is known for its coconut farms and the surrounding district is one of the most productive coconut growing regions in Karnataka. The town has good highway dhabas and restaurants where travellers can refresh themselves before continuing towards Chitradurga. Tumkur also has quick access to the Devarayana Durga hill fort and Siddaganga Math, though most Shirdi-bound travellers skip these and continue on the highway. The stretch from Bangalore to Tumkur is one of the fastest and most comfortable on the entire route, typically covered in about 90 minutes.

Chitradurga
Iconic landmark: Chitradurga Fort
Chitradurga is a significant historical town and a popular stop for travellers on this route. The famous Chitradurga Fort, known as Elusuttina Kote (the seven-walled fort), rises dramatically from the rocky landscape and is visible from the highway. This eighteenth century fort complex is associated with the Palyagara chieftains and Hyder Ali. Most travellers use Chitradurga as a mid-morning snack stop or fuel stop. The town has a growing number of highway restaurants, petrol stations, and rest facilities. Beyond Chitradurga, the road transitions into the northern Deccan plateau terrain and the landscape becomes drier and more dramatic. The Chitradurga Fort is worth a short visit if you have allocated sufficient time and are not travelling overnight.

Hubli-Dharwad
Cultural twin‑city
The twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad represent the most significant urban stop on the Bangalore to Shirdi road route. Hubli is a major commercial centre and railway junction in northern Karnataka while Dharwad is known as a cultural and academic hub. This is the ideal lunch stop for most travellers departing Bangalore in the early morning hours. The cities offer a wide range of restaurant options including both South Indian and North Indian cuisines. From Hubli-Dharwad, the route continues towards Solapur crossing into Maharashtra. The roads in this stretch are well-marked and maintained under the National Highway Authority. Petrol, diesel, and EV charging facilities are readily available in and around Hubli.

Solapur
Pilgrimage & temples
Solapur is the last major city before reaching Shirdi and marks the crossing into Maharashtra proper. The city is historically important and is associated with the Bhima Shankar temple and the Solapur Fort. Most travellers use Solapur as an evening or dinner stop before the final leg of the journey to Shirdi. The road from Solapur to Shirdi is well-connected via state highways and passes through smaller Maharashtrian towns. The landscape around Solapur is characterised by flat, semi-arid terrain with sugarcane fields. Solapur also has a railway station with trains connecting to Mumbai and Pune if any travellers in your group need to split for onward journeys

Shirdi
The Divine Destination
After a long and rewarding drive, the arrival in Shirdi is marked by the increasing number of devotees, orange flags, and signboards pointing to the Samadhi Mandir. The town is compact and most attractions are within walking distance of the main temple complex. Tejas Travels ensures that your driver knows the best drop-off points nearest to the temple and is familiar with the local parking and traffic regulations. On arrival, most pilgrims proceed directly for darshan before settling into accommodation. The entire Bangalore to Shirdi cab journey, when planned overnight, allows you to arrive in time for the morning aarti, which is one of the most spiritually powerful experiences Shirdi has to offer.

Minibus Packages from Bangalore to Shirdi
Every quote is built around your group size, night halts and itinerary, but the four structures below cover how most Bangalore groups travel to Shirdi. All packages are billed garage to garage on total kilometres and hours, with the Maharashtra permit and driver night halt shown as separate lines.
Temple Group Package
The core booking on this route, built for temple committees, bhajan mandalis, senior citizen groups and community pilgrimages of thirteen to thirty-two. The itinerary is planned around darshan timing rather than driving convenience: a Kolhapur night halt for the Mahalakshmi morning darshan, arrival at Shirdi timed to a specific aarti, and two clear days at the Shirdi end for Shani Shingnapur and Trimbakeshwar. Where the group wants the fuller circuit we route via Pandharpur and Tuljapur, which adds a day. We can also assist with Sansthan accommodation enquiries and darshan pass timing, though the booking itself remains with the group.
Family Package
For extended families making the pilgrimage together, typically thirteen to twenty-six people across three generations. The day is paced with generous halts and a driver crew comfortable adjusting around children and elderly travellers, which on a sixteen-hour drive is not a small consideration. We strongly recommend the two-day outbound with a Kolhapur halt over a straight-through run for any group with members over sixty. Five days is the configuration that works: two travelling, two at Shirdi, one returning with a halt. Enquire through our mini bus booking online process, or add a second vehicle from the outstation travel fleet.
Budget Package
For larger community groups and cost-sensitive pilgrimages where filling the vehicle is the main lever. Standard AC or non-AC mini bus, the same route, the same permit handling and the same two-driver or night-halt standard, with the saving coming from vehicle tier rather than from cutting corners on crew rest. On a two-thousand kilometre round trip the fixed costs, permit, tolls and driver charges are shared across every seat, so a full 32 seater brings the per-head figure down dramatically. Weekday departures outside festival weeks reduce the rate further.
Luxury Package
Premium mini coach with deep reclining pushback seats, extra legroom, curtains, LED interior lighting and an entertainment system suitable for bhajans, with a chauffeur crew in formal attire. Of every route we operate this is the one where the seating upgrade earns its cost most clearly, simply because of the hours involved. Suited to family pilgrimages with older members and to groups who intend to travel through the night. Larger parties can move up to our luxury Volvo bus, and smaller premium groups to the Force Urbania.
Other Popular Minibus Routes from Bangalore
Shirdi is the longest pilgrimage route we run from Bangalore. If your group is weighing alternatives or planning a second trip, these book most often.

Billing Details for Bangalore to Shirdi Minibus Hire
Tejas Tours and Travels quotes every minibus booking in writing before you commit, with each component listed separately. There are no verbal-only prices and no charges introduced after the trip that were not on your original quote.
Advance Payment
• Twenty percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking. The balance is settled at the end of the trip after the advance is deducted.
What the Quoted Fare Includes
• Base fare and fuel charges.
• Driver allowance.
What the Quoted Fare Excludes
• Toll charges and parking fees. These are substantial on this route, since NH48 is among the most heavily tolled corridors in the country.
• Interstate tax and permit charges. This route crosses into Maharashtra, so the permit applies to every Shirdi trip without exception. We estimate it on the written quote.
• Driver bata after 9:45 PM is charged extra.
• Driver night halt charges, which apply on every night of a multi-day trip and are shown per night on the quote.
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, not from your pickup point. On a round trip of roughly 2,000 km this is the largest single figure on the quote.
• GST as applicable.
• Accommodation and darshan or aarti pass charges, which remain with the group.
Insurance Note
• Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passengers insurance by the company. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance where they consider it necessary, and we would recommend it particularly on a route of this length.

What Our Customers Say About Our Minibus Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Shirdi Minibus
Roughly a thousand kilometres and sixteen to eighteen hours of driving each way via NH48. That figure is driving time only and excludes a night halt. Most temple groups take a two-day outbound with an overnight at Kolhapur, which is both safer and more useful, since it allows the Mahalakshmi morning darshan. A two-driver straight-through run is possible and we quote it separately.
No, and you should not accept a quote that says otherwise from anyone. Sixteen to eighteen hours cannot responsibly be driven by one person in one stretch. We run this route with either a two-driver crew alternating at the wheel or a scheduled overnight halt at Belagavi, Kolhapur or Satara, and the quote states which arrangement applies and what it costs.
Four days is the absolute minimum and it is tight. Five is comfortable: two travelling out with a halt, two at Shirdi covering the complex and Shani Shingnapur, one returning. Six days lets you add Trimbakeshwar and Nashik, or route the outbound via Pandharpur and Tuljapur for the fuller pilgrimage. Anyone offering a three-day Shirdi trip by road from Bangalore is not being straight with you.
Yes a permit is required, and no it is not part of the base fare. The route crosses from Karnataka into Maharashtra near Nippani, so an interstate permit applies to every Shirdi trip without exception. We arrange it in advance, carry the documents on board and show the cost as its own line on your written quote, so the figure is known before you travel rather than at the checkpost.
This is the main advantage of travelling by road rather than flying. Kolhapur Mahalakshmi, one of the Shakti Peethas, sits directly on the route and is the standard overnight halt. Pandharpur, Tuljapur and Ganagapur lie east of the highway and can be built in for roughly one extra day. A flight reaches Shirdi and nothing else; a coach reaches Shirdi having covered as much of that circuit as your schedule allows.
The Shirdi Sansthan operates online darshan and aarti passes and its own accommodation, and both bookings remain with your group since they are made in the devotees own names. What we do is plan the arrival timing around the aarti you want to attend, advise on how far ahead to book for your group size, and coordinate parking with whichever accommodation you choose. Book well in advance for any group over twenty-five.
The quoted fare includes the base fare with fuel charges and the driver allowance. Charged separately are tolls and parking, which are substantial on NH48, the Maharashtra interstate permit, driver bata after 9:45 PM, driver night halt charges for each night, GST, and your own accommodation and darshan passes. Final rental is on total kilometres and hours garage to garage, which on a 2,000 km round trip is the largest figure on the quote.
Book one seat category above your headcount, and on this route be more generous than usual, because seat pitch matters far more over eighteen hours than over four. Fifteen to eighteen people suit a 20 seater, twenty to twenty-four a 26 seater, and twenty-six to twenty-eight a 32 seater. For a full party of thirty or more, a full-size coach or a Volvo is usually the better call on a distance like this.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passengers insurance by the company. Our vehicles carry statutory commercial vehicle insurance and all drivers hold valid commercial licences with route experience, and on a journey of this length we would recommend arranging personal travel cover. On cancellations, because the vehicle and crew are committed for five or six days, this route needs 10 days notice for a full refund, and 15 days for the three main festival periods. Shorter notice follows the standard tiers.
October to March, when the Deccan is cool and the long highway hours are far easier on a group. April and May are punishing on this route. The monsoon is manageable but slower. Separately, consider whether you want to travel during Ram Navami, Guru Purnima or Vijayadashami: the atmosphere is extraordinary and the crowds are enormous, so it is a deliberate choice rather than a default one. Book several weeks ahead for those dates.
