Gommateshwara Bahubali and Vindhyagiri Hill
The monolithic statue of Bahubali, commissioned around 981 CE by Chavundaraya, a minister and commander of the Western Ganga dynasty, stands roughly fifty-seven feet tall and is carved from a single block of granite. Bahubali is depicted in kayotsarga, the standing meditation posture, with creepers carved climbing his legs and arms to signify how long he stood unmoving. The face is the thing people remember - it carries an expression of complete detachment that photographs consistently fail to capture. Around the summit enclosure stand further Tirthankara images added under the Hoysalas. Entry is free, photography is generally permitted, and the view back over the town, the Kalyani and Chandragiri opposite is the reward for the climb.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Nelamangala
Highway Junction of Bangalore
The route leaves Bangalore northwest along the Tumkur road before branching onto NH 75. Our drivers reach the pickup point fifteen minutes early, and on this route the departure discipline matters for an unusual reason - it is not about traffic so much as about reaching the hill before the sun does. Every fifteen minutes lost in Bangalore is fifteen minutes of the climb spent in hotter conditions. Passengers boarding from Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagar, Hebbal or Peenya are directly on this line and get away quickly; those from Electronic City or Whitefield should allow an extra forty-five minutes to cross the city, and for them we usually suggest a 5:00 AM pickup. Nelamangala is where Mysore, Mangalore, Hassan and Tumkur traffic all diverges, and it builds fast on Friday and Saturday mornings. Past the junction the highway opens up properly and the pace settles for the rest of the drive.

Kunigal
Horse Breeding Town of Karnataka
Forty kilometres of good four-lane highway through Solur into Kunigal, with the outskirts giving way to coconut plantations, ragi fields and the low granite outcrops of the southern Deccan. On an early departure this stretch passes in the first light, and it is quick and undemanding driving. Kunigal is known for the Kunigal Stud Farm, one of the oldest horse breeding establishments in India, founded in the eighteenth century and associated with Tipu Sultan before passing through colonial and later private ownership. It is not open as a casual visitor attraction, but it is the reason the town is on the map and it remains a working thoroughbred operation. Our drivers do not usually halt here, since the better breakfast cluster is twenty-five minutes ahead at Yediyur and the priority on this route is banking time early.

Yediyur
Siddhalingeshwara Temple Town
Thirty kilometres of continuing easy highway, and Yediyur arrives at close to the right time for breakfast on a dawn departure. This is the standard first halt on this corridor and the one we recommend using properly. The Siddhalingeshwara Temple sits beside Yediyur Lake and draws a steady stream of travellers on this highway - the shrine is associated with the sixteenth-century Veerashaiva saint Tontada Siddhalingeshwara, and the lakeside setting makes it a pleasant twenty-minute break even for travellers with no intention of going inside. More practically, there is a reliable cluster of highway restaurants here that serve quickly, and it is a dependable fuel and restroom point. Facilities at Shravanabelagola itself are limited, so this is the right place to eat before the climb rather than after it.

Hirisave and Bellur Cross
Coconut and Areca Belt of Hassan District
Thirty-odd kilometres of good highway as the route crosses into Hassan district and the landscape shifts into proper plantation country - coconut, areca and paddy, greener and more enclosed than the open country behind. Hirisave is a small highway town rather than a destination, and it marks the point where the drive starts feeling like the Malnad approaches rather than the Deccan. Bellur Cross is the junction that matters. This is where the route leaves NH 75 for the final run to Shravanabelagola, and it is easy to miss if you are following signage rather than a driver who knows it. Note that Bellur Cross has no relationship to Belur, the Hoysala temple town seventy kilometres further on - the similarity of names causes genuine confusion, and travellers occasionally find they have driven past their turn while looking for a temple that is an hour away.

Shravanabelagola
Jain Pilgrimage Capital of South India
Twelve kilometres of district road running through farmland, and the arrival is the memorable part. Vindhyagiri hill appears well before the town does - a bare granite dome rising out of flat plantation country, with the statue itself visible from a considerable distance on a clear morning. Travellers who have only seen photographs are usually surprised by how isolated and abrupt the hill is. The town at the foot of it is small, arranged around the Kalyani tank between the two hills, and it is a working pilgrimage town rather than a tourist one - a single main street of shops selling offerings, a few simple eateries, and the Bhattaraka Math beside the tank. Our driver parks at the base of Vindhyagiri and waits for the duration, since there is nowhere else to be and the climb takes as long as it takes. For a 5:30 AM departure with a proper Yediyur breakfast, most travellers reach the base of the steps between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM, which is close to ideal.

Minibus Packages from Bangalore to Shravanabelagola
Four package shapes cover almost every enquiry we receive for this route. All of them are quoted garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours.
Corporate Package
Built for company offsites, team outings and client visits. Includes a 20 to 24 seater minibus with pushback seating, a GST-compliant invoice, a Proforma Invoice issued in advance for purchase-order approval, and 30-day credit terms for registered corporate accounts. Pickup can be arranged from multiple tech park points across Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata and Bellandur on a single trip sheet. Where a team has more than twenty-four people, we pair a minibus with a tempo traveller so both vehicles travel in convoy under one coordinator. Long-standing corporate clients usually route these bookings through our corporate travel desk.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most requested option on this route, particularly from Jain family groups travelling for darshan. A 12 to 18 seater minibus with a driver briefed on the temple town layout, extra time built into the schedule for the Vindhyagiri climb, and a drop point close to the Kalyani pond so elderly members walk as little as possible. We recommend a 6:00 am departure so that the barefoot climb happens before the granite heats up. Groups often combine this with an overnight in Hassan and a Belur-Halebidu day on the return.
Budget Group Package
For college groups, friend circles and cost-conscious family trips. A 12 to 20 seater non-AC or standard AC minibus at the lowest per-kilometre rate in our range, with a straightforward same-day return itinerary and no frills. Split across sixteen or eighteen people this typically works out cheaper per head than public bus tickets plus local transport at the destination. This is where most mini bus rental in bangalore price enquiries land, and we quote it in writing with the kilometre rate stated openly.
Luxury Package
For groups that want the comfort level of a coach in a smaller vehicle. Executive minibus with reclining seats, better suspension for the state road stretch, curtains and a music system, or an upgrade to a Force Urbania for 13 to 17 passengers who want the highest comfort tier available in this size class. Suited to senior management groups, visiting delegations and family occasions where the vehicle is part of the impression.

What Our Customers Say About Our Minibus Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Shravanabelagola Minibus
The distance is about 144 kilometres one way via NH-75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal and Channarayapatna. A minibus takes 3 to 3 hours 30 minutes, including one breakfast halt. Leaving Bangalore by 6:00 am puts your group at the base of Vindhyagiri hill before 9:45 am, which is the ideal time to start the barefoot climb.
Our minibus fleet runs from 12 to 24 seats. As a rule, book one size above your headcount so nobody travels with a bag on their lap on a three-hour drive. For a group of 20, a 24 seater is more comfortable than a 20 seater. Under seven passengers, a car is the more economical choice, and for 8 to 18 a tempo traveller is worth comparing.
Same-day return in a 12 seater starts from around Rs 10,200. The final rental is calculated garage to garage on total kilometres and hours, and toll, parking, interstate tax and GST are billed separately. You will receive a written quote itemizing every one of these before you pay anything.
Twenty percent of the total fare confirms the booking. For peak dates and multi-day outstation itineraries we may ask for 20 to 30 percent. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end.
Yes. Base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance are all included in the quoted rate. What is not included is toll and parking, interstate tax, GST, and additional driver bata if the trip runs past 9:45 pm. All of these are stated in the written quote so there are no surprises at settlement.
Yes, and it is the most requested extension on this route. Belur is about 89 kilometres from Shravanabelagola and Halebidu about 78 kilometres. Doing all three in one day is possible but rushed. We recommend a two-day itinerary with an overnight in Hassan, which we can quote as a single package.
It is roughly 620 rock-cut steps, done barefoot on granite. A reasonably fit adult takes 25 to 35 minutes up. There are handrails on parts of the route and landings to rest on. Palanquin carriers are available at the base for a negotiated fee. Between March and June the rock gets very hot, so carry cloth socks. Chandragiri hill is a much gentler alternative at around 190 steps.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Inside 72 hours the charge steps up from 10 percent to 75 percent depending on how close to departure you cancel. A no-show after the bus is deployed is charged in full. Modifications with more than 24 hours notice are usually accommodated without penalty, subject to availability.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance as part of the booking. Our vehicles carry the statutory commercial vehicle insurance required by law, but any personal travel insurance for passengers needs to be arranged independently. Groups travelling under a corporate or school policy should confirm their own coverage before departure.
We do not operate sleeper buses. For overnight and multi-day itineraries we deploy seater coaches and minibuses with scheduled rest halts, and arrange hotel accommodation along the route where the itinerary calls for it. For the Shravanabelagola circuit with Belur and Halebidu, an overnight in Hassan is the usual arrangement.
