Places to Visit in Moodabidri

Saavira Kambada Basadi

Saavira Kambada Basadi

The thousand-pillar basadi, properly the Tribhuvana Tilaka Chudamani, completed in 1430 and the finest Jain structure on this coast. The hall carries something close to a thousand granite pillars and the celebrated feature is that no two carry the same carving - figures, geometric bands, floral work, each column different. The tiered roof shows the coastal Tulu style rather than a Deccan one. A manastambha stands in front. Visit in the morning when the light comes into the hall properly; allow an hour and look up as well as around.

The Dhavala Manuscripts and the Jain Math

The Dhavala Manuscripts and the Jain Math

The Jain Math at Moodabidri holds palm-leaf manuscripts of the Dhavala, Jayadhavala and Mahadhavala - commentaries on the Shatkhandagama and among the most significant surviving texts of the Digambara tradition, preserved in this small town for centuries. They are religious property rather than museum exhibits and access is not casual; viewing is at the discretion of the math and generally restricted. Visit the math for the setting and ask respectfully rather than expecting a display. That these documents survived here at all is the point worth carrying away.

Chowta Palace

Chowta Palace

The eighteenth-century palace of the Chowta rulers, who governed this part of the coast, is a wooden structure of the kind Tulu Nadu built and very little of which survives - carved pillars, sloping tiled roofs, inner courtyards and a scale that is domestic rather than imperial. It houses a collection of artefacts and manuscripts. Visit for an hour; it is a rare surviving example of coastal Karnataka domestic architecture and it is a good deal quieter than the basadis. Access arrangements vary, so check locally on the day.

Karkala and the Chaturmukha Basadi

Karkala and the Chaturmukha Basadi

Twenty kilometres north, Karkala holds a forty-two foot Bahubali carved from a single granite block and raised on Gomatabetta in 1432, standing on a bare rock hill with the coastal plain and the Ghats in view. Below it sits the Chaturmukha Basadi of 1586, a four-faced structure with identical entrances on all sides and Tirthankara images facing each way - severe, symmetrical and unlike anything else in the region. Visit both in a morning. The climb to the statue is short and stepped, and the view alone justifies it.

Venur

Venur

Twenty-five kilometres east, Venur is a village on the Phalguni with a thirty-five foot Bahubali raised in 1604 by the Ajila chieftains - the smallest of the coastal monoliths and by a distance the least visited. There are also basadis and the remains of the Ajila palace. There is essentially nothing else there. Visit precisely for that: a six-hundred-year-old monolithic statue standing in a quiet village with no crowd, no queue and no commerce around it, which is an experience Shravanabelagola cannot offer.

Mangalore and the Coast

Mangalore and the Coast

Moodabidri sits thirty-five kilometres inland from Mangalore, which puts the whole coast within easy reach - Panambur and Tannirbhavi beaches, the Kadri Manjunath temple, the Sultan Battery watchtower and the confluence at Sasihithlu. Further north, Udupi has the Krishna temple and Malpe the boat to St Mary Islands, with their columnar basalt formations. Visit the coast as a second or third day. For many groups the Jain circuit and the coast together make the trip, and Moodabidri is well placed to be the base for both.

Minibus Packages for the Bangalore to Moodabidri Route

Corporate Package

Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams heading to the coast for offsites and annual outings, often combining Moodabidri with Mangalore or a Sakleshpur plantation stay. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate minibus bangalore vehicle stays with your team across the Moodabidri, Karkala and coastal legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.

Family and Heritage Package

The most common booking on this corridor. Community associations, extended families and heritage societies of fourteen to twenty-two, covering Moodabidri, Venur, Karkala and often Dharmasthala over three to four days. Itineraries are built around temple timings and the light for photography rather than driving hours, and the driver is briefed to expect long stops at each basadi. School and college heritage tours book the same structure, usually with Soans Farm and a coastal day added.

Budget Package

For groups where cost per head decides whether the trip happens, which describes many association and school bookings. Non-AC 12 to 17 seater mini buses, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The mini bus rate per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 680 kilometre round trip the saving across a full group is real. One caveat worth stating: the coastal side is humid for most of the year, so we will quote AC and non-AC together and let the organiser decide on the numbers. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance or driver vetting.

Luxury Package

Executive mini coach configuration with fewer, wider push-back seats, extra legroom, better sound insulation and premium interiors. On a route with a thirty-kilometre ghat descent in the middle and narrow coastal roads at the end, better seating and suspension are practical rather than cosmetic. Suited to senior management travel and milestone family trips. For a step further, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration handles the same circuit with an even smoother ride.

Our Minibus Fleet in Bangalore

Our ac minibus rental bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations. Because every group vehicle category runs from the same Bangalore base, a change in headcount after booking usually means a change of vehicle rather than a new booking.

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller groups on the same circuit

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, workable to Moodabidri but restricted in the old town lanes and on the Venur road

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle is seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why the Moodabidri run is planned as an early-morning daytime drive with proper meal halts rather than an overnight haul. On a route whose midpoint is a ghat descent through high-rainfall forest, crossing in daylight with a rested driver is the only sensible way to operate.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border — not applicable on the direct Moodabidri route, which stays within Karnataka

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the mini bus leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. That distance is already built into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you settle. For association and school bookings that need committee or management approval, we can issue the quote in a format that can be tabled directly.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the entire fleet.

How to Book a Mini Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a mini bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location — area, building or landmark such as Electronic City, Whitefield, MG Road or Koramangala.

•             Share your destination or full itinerary.

•             Share your group size.

•             Share your preferred mini bus tier: Standard AC, Executive Mini Coach or Luxury.

•             For corporate bookings from Bangalore tech parks, share your GST number and preferred invoicing format.

•             Tell us which stops beyond Moodabidri are planned — Venur, Karkala, Dharmasthala, Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi — so we can quote the correct kilometres.

•             If you are travelling between June and September, say so at enquiry, since we will check Shiradi Ghat conditions before confirming.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote itemises every charge:

•             Mini bus hire rate — per kilometre or flat local package

•             Driver allowance

•             Applicable toll estimates

•             Interstate permit where applicable — not required for the direct Moodabidri route, which stays within Karnataka

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST

•             No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•             For Bangalore IT sector corporate clients, a Proforma Invoice is available at this stage for PO-based approval.

•             Request comparison quotes for AC versus non-AC at the same time, since the coastal leg is humid and the decision is worth making on the numbers.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and guarantees the specific mini bus variant on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time

•             Pickup location confirmation

•             Full billing breakdown — all sent to WhatsApp or email in writing

•             For peak dates — the Moodabidri Jain festival calendar, New Year, Diwali, Dasara and long IT weekends — book well ahead.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Mini Bus Arrive Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•             The mini bus will be clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.

•             The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments, the Shiradi Ghat descent, temple parking and rest stop coordination.

•             At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup area, destination and travel date. Written mini bus quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Mini Bus for Rent and Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance deposits and final settlement at trip end.

•             UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for advance deposits.

•             Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. For corporate clients and advances above Rs 10,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•             Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

A 20 percent advance confirms your booking and guarantees vehicle availability. For Moodabidri, Dharmasthala and other multi-day coastal hire from Bangalore on festival and peak dates, a higher advance may be required.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Moodabidri Minibus

The bangalore to moodabidri distance by road is approximately 340 kilometres via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, the Shiradi Ghat, Uppinangady and Venur, which is the route we run. That is 7 to 8 hours of driving before meal halts. A 5:30 AM departure crosses the ghat in good light and puts most groups in Moodabidri by mid to late afternoon, with the evening free.

Pricing starts from Rs 22,360. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Charged separately at actuals are toll and parking, additional driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and every charge appears as a line item in the written quote you receive within 2 hours.

No. The route stays entirely within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit or state tax on this trip, which keeps the billing simpler than on our Kerala and Tamil Nadu corridors. If your itinerary extends beyond the state, that permit appears as a separate line in the written quote before you confirm.

It is a thirty-kilometre descent on NH75 between Sakleshpur and Gundya, rebuilt in concrete and in far better condition than its old reputation suggests. From June to September it takes very heavy rain, and landslides, fallen trees and short closures are possible. We check conditions before every monsoon departure and will flag the risk at the quote stage. A mini bus handles the descent easily and has more diversion options than a full-size coach if one is ever needed.

Yes, and this is the main practical reason groups choose this size here. Moodabidri’s basadis sit along narrow lanes in the old town, and the roads to Venur and Karkala were not built for coach traffic. A 12 to 24 seater sets you down close to each site rather than several streets away, and covers the whole Jain circuit without a second local vehicle. Above twenty-four passengers a coach reaches the town but the circuit becomes awkward.

A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific mini bus variant on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Festival dates commit early, so for those a higher advance may be requested.

Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, covering Moodabidri, Venur at thirty kilometres, Karkala at twenty, Dharmasthala at sixty-five, and any onward leg to Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one number.

Two days covers Moodabidri and Venur, travelling down on day one and back on day two, though that leaves little room. Three days is the standard booking and brings Karkala and a coastal afternoon comfortably in. Four days lets you add Dharmasthala or run north to Udupi without rushing. Both travel days are long, so each extra night buys real sightseeing rather than more driving.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route we plan an early morning departure and a daytime drive with proper meal halts rather than overnight driving, which matters here because the midpoint is a ghat descent through high-rainfall forest that should not be taken after dark in poor weather.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, group size and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours. Confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our mini bus booking online and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
