Places to Visit in Nanjanagudu

Srikanteshwara Temple

Srikanteshwara Temple

The Dakshina Kashi, and among the largest temples in Karnataka - a walled compound with a seven-tier gopuram, a long pillared prakaram and over a hundred and twenty shrines, built up over a millennium by successive dynasties. The deity is Nanjundeshwara, Shiva as the one who consumed poison, and locally Hakim Nanjunda after the Tipu Sultan endowment. Visit in the morning session; the temple keeps a midday break. Allow ninety minutes to see the compound properly rather than the twenty minutes most day visitors give it.

The Kapila and the Ghats

The Kapila and the Ghats

The Kapila - the Kabini - runs below the temple and the ghats are used for the ritual bath before darshan, as at the great river shrines. The river rises in Wayanad and joins the Cauvery at Tirumakudalu Narasipura downstream, which is itself a confluence site of some significance. Visit at first light when the ghats are busy and the light is on the water. Flow varies considerably with the season and with releases from the Kabini dam upstream, so follow local direction rather than assuming.

Rasabale and the Tooth Powder

Rasabale and the Tooth Powder

Two things Nanjangud is known for beyond the temple, and both are genuine. Nanjangud rasabale is a banana variety with a GI tag - short, thin-skinned, intensely aromatic and quite unlike a commercial banana - grown in a small area around the town and increasingly scarce, which is why finding it is a minor achievement. And Nanjangud tooth powder has been made here since the nineteenth century and still commands a following that has outlasted a good deal of multinational marketing. Buy both in the town rather than assuming you will find them elsewhere.

Suttur Math

Suttur Math

Around ten kilometres from Nanjangud on the Kapila, Suttur is the seat of a Veerashaiva monastic institution going back to the eleventh century, running a large educational network across Karnataka alongside its religious function. The annual Suttur jatra in January or February draws very large numbers over several days, with a cattle fair, cultural programmes and mass feeding. Visit outside the jatra for a quiet riverside math, or during it for one of the larger rural gatherings in the state - and book well ahead if the latter.

Mysore

Mysore

Twenty-three kilometres north and the obvious pairing. The Amba Vilas palace, Chamundi Hills with the Nandi on the ascent, St Philomena, the Devaraja market and Brindavan Gardens beyond - a full day easily, and the palace illumination on Sunday evenings and public holidays is worth timing for. Visit Mysore on the same trip as a matter of course; a great many of our Nanjangud bookings are actually Mysore trips with the temple added, and the two together make a comfortable two-day itinerary.

Talakadu, Bandipur and Kabini

Talakadu, Bandipur and Kabini

Three quite different extensions. Talakadu, around forty kilometres east on the Cauvery, is the buried town where temples emerge from and disappear under sand dunes - one of the stranger sites in Karnataka. Bandipur is sixty kilometres south with forest department safaris and a reliable elephant population. Kabini, on the reservoir west of it, is the best-known wildlife destination in the state. Visit any as a second day; all three are closer to Nanjangud than to Bangalore and the town works well as a staging point.

Minibus Packages for the Bangalore to Nanjangud Route

Corporate Package

Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams running team outings, family days, plant visits to the Nanjangud industrial belt and short offsites combining the temple with Mysore. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full duration, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate minibus bangalore vehicle stays with the group across the Nanjangud, Chamundi Hills and Mysore legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Pickup can be staged across two or three tech park gates on the way out of the city so nobody travels to a single assembly point. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.

Family and Pilgrimage Package

The most common booking on this corridor by a wide margin. Extended families travelling for a naming ceremony, a first tonsure, an annual vow or simply a group darshan, and temple committees running organised trips. The package is designed around the reality of a pilgrimage day: fixed darshan timings, an unpredictable amount of waiting, ritual arrangements at the river ghats, and a group that will not move on a schedule. The driver waits, the vehicle stays with you, and there is room for prasada, pooja materials and cooked food for the return. Srirangapatna on the way out and Chamundi Hills on the way back turn it into a complete temple circuit within a single day.

Budget Package

For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Non-AC 12 to 17 seater mini buses, point to point, no frills, clean vehicle, verified driver — suited to college groups, community trips, bhajan mandalis and pilgrimage associations. On a route this length the non-AC tier is genuinely comfortable for an early morning departure, and the mini bus rate per km in bangalore for that tier is our lowest. Across a full group of twenty, the saving on a same-day return is substantial. The budget tier is about vehicle specification, never about maintenance or driver vetting.

Luxury and Executive Package

Executive mini coach configuration with fewer, wider push-back seats, extra legroom, better sound insulation and premium interiors. Suited to senior family members on a pilgrimage, milestone occasions, senior management travel and any group that wants to arrive without feeling the drive. Our ac minibus rental bangalore executive tier is the usual choice for multi-generational family bookings where comfort for elders is the deciding factor. For a step further, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration is a premium alternative on the same route.

Our Minibus Fleet in Bangalore

Our fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations in AC and non-AC. We run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller groups on the same corridor

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large temple and corporate groups

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On the Nanjangud route this is not a constraint, since the drive is done comfortably in daylight in under four and a half hours each way.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax, where an itinerary crosses into another state

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. On the Nanjangud route no interstate tax applies, since the entire journey stays within Karnataka — a genuine saving compared with Ooty or Tirupati trips of similar length. Note the driver bata clause if you are timing a late return around the Mysore Palace illumination on a Sunday.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Nanjanagudu Minibus

The bangalore to nanjangud distance by road is approximately 175 kilometres via NH275 through Bidadi, Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya, Srirangapatna and Mysore, then twenty-five kilometres south on the Mysore–Ooty road. Groups using the Mysore Outer Ring Road bypass cover about 168 kilometres. A mini bus takes 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes including one breakfast halt. Leaving Bangalore between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM puts you at the temple for the morning darshan; leaving after 9:00 AM adds close to an hour just clearing the city.

Yes, and this is how most groups book it. A 5:00 AM departure gets you to Nanjangud by around 9:00 AM, allows three hours at the temple and the river ghats, and still leaves time for Chamundi Hills or the Mysore Palace on the way back with a return to Bangalore by 9:00 PM. If you want to add Talakadu, Somanathapura, Bandipur or Kabini, plan an overnight at Mysore or Nanjangud instead — a single day gets tight and the driver bata after 9:45 PM starts to apply.

Pricing starts from around Rs 11,160. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Charged separately at actuals are toll and parking, additional driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and every charge appears as a line item in the written quote you receive within 2 hours.

A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific mini bus variant on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Nanjangud festival dates, a higher advance may be required.

No. Nanjangud is in Mysore district in Karnataka and the entire route from Bangalore stays within the state, so no interstate permit or interstate tax applies. This is a real cost difference compared with Ooty or Tirupati trips of similar distance, where Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh permits are billed at actuals. If your itinerary continues from Nanjangud through Gundlupet into Tamil Nadu or Kerala, we arrange that permit separately and show it as a line item in the quote.

Our minibus hire bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations in AC and non-AC. Under twelve passengers, an 8 to 18 seater tempo traveller is usually more economical. Above twenty-four we operate 27 to 50 seater buses including Volvo and Benz coaches, which is what larger temple committees and school groups normally take. We recommend the right size based on your headcount and what you are carrying when you enquire.

Yes. On a day booking the vehicle and driver stay with you for the whole day, which is precisely why groups prefer a mini bus over cabs booked by the trip. The driver parks in the designated area at Nanjangud and is available when you come out. Billing is on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage rather than per outing, so waiting time is already accounted for in the quote you approve.

Most of them, yes. Chamundi Hills, the Mysore Palace, Srirangapatna, Talakadu, Somanathapura and Suttur all take a 24 seater comfortably and have proper parking. Two need planning: at Bandipur the safaris run in Forest Department vehicles so the mini bus drops the group at the reception, and the highway through the park is closed between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM. At Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta private vehicles are not allowed past the base check post, and a Forest Department shuttle takes visitors to the summit. Our drivers know these restrictions and plan the day around them.

October to March is the most comfortable window, with Dasara in Mysore during September or October adding a great deal to a combined trip. The Dodda Jathre car festival at Nanjangud falls in March or April and is extraordinary to witness, though the town fills completely and both accommodation and parking need booking weeks ahead. April and May are hot on this stretch, which makes the AC tier worth the difference. The monsoon between June and September is pleasant and the countryside is at its best, and Bandipur and Kabini are green.

Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Festival-date bookings need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking.
