Sunrise Point and the Cloud View — The Reason You Came

Sunrise Point and the Cloud View — The Reason You Came

The eastern edge of the summit is where everybody gathers before first light, and on a clear winter morning the sun comes up over a valley filled edge to edge with cloud. October to February gives the most reliable inversions. Get there twenty minutes before sunrise to find a spot, and carry a jacket: the summit runs several degrees colder than the city and the wind at the edge is sharp.

Tipu’s Drop — The 600-Metre Cliff

Tipu’s Drop — The 600-Metre Cliff

A sheer drop of around six hundred metres on the western face, named for the tradition that condemned prisoners were thrown from here in Tipu Sultan’s time. The view is the best on the hill, taking in the plains and the neighbouring peaks of Skandagiri and Channagiri. It is fenced and safe, and the most photographed point at Nandi Hills. Go early: by nine on a weekend there is a queue for the railing.

Tipu’s Summer Residence — Tashk-e-Jannat, the Envy of Heaven

Tipu’s Summer Residence — Tashk-e-Jannat, the Envy of Heaven

Begun under Hyder Ali and completed in Tipu Sultan’s reign around 1791, this modest summer palace carried the name Tashk-e-Jannat, usually translated as the envy of heaven. What survives is a small pillared structure with traces of the original decoration, and it takes twenty minutes rather than an hour. Its value is context: it explains why the British wanted this hill badly enough to besiege it.

Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple — The Summit Shrine

Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple — The Summit Shrine

The temple at the top completes a trio with the shrines in the village below. Tradition reads them as three stages of Shiva: Arunachaleshwara as childhood, Bhoga Nandeeshwara as youth, and Yoga Nandeeshwara here as renunciation. The structure is plain compared with the foothill complex, with a large Nandi at the entrance, but its position gives it something the village temples cannot match.

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple — Nine Centuries at the Foothills

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple — Nine Centuries at the Foothills

The finest single thing on this route and the most consistently skipped. Begun in the ninth century under the Nolambas and extended by the Gangas, Cholas, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara rulers, the complex holds three shrines, a pillared marriage hall and a large stepped kalyani said to be a source of the South Pennar. It is ASI-protected, and some accounts hold that Belur and Halebidu drew on it.

Amrutha Sarovara and Brahmashram — Water and Silence on the Summit

Amrutha Sarovara and Brahmashram — Water and Silence on the Summit

Amrutha Sarovara, the lake of nectar, is a spring-fed tank on the hilltop that still supplies water locally and draws birds through the morning. A short walk away is Brahmashram, a small cave hermitage associated with the sage Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Both take fifteen minutes and both are quiet once the sunrise crowd has left. They reward staying an extra half hour rather than heading straight down.

Nandi Hills Rose Garden and the Gandhi House

Nandi Hills Rose Garden and the Gandhi House

The summit gardens, laid out during the British period when the hill served as a hot-weather retreat, are well kept and pleasant to walk once the sun is properly up. Nehru Nilaya, the colonial-era bungalow, is the standard spot for a slow cup of tea after sunrise. Neither is a headline attraction, and both are exactly what you want between six-thirty and eight.

Minibus Packages for the Bangalore to Nandi Hills Route

Corporate Package

Nandi Hills is the default Bangalore team outing — close enough to be done in a morning, different enough from the city to count, and cheap enough that it clears approval without a discussion. The package includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. We build multiple pickup points across the north and east of the city into the outbound leg at no extra charge, which matters when a team is spread between Manyata, Whitefield and Hebbal. Where a department is moving more than twenty-four people we run a corporate minibus bangalore convoy on a common schedule. A vineyard visit or a breakfast stop on the return is easy to add and is how most companies structure the day.

Family Package

The classic weekend booking: an extended family, often three generations, out before dawn and back for lunch. Planned around the practicalities — a driver who collects from two or three homes without complaint, a vehicle warm enough that nobody suffers the wait for sunrise, and a return leg with an hour at Bhoga Nandeeshwara built in. Where the group includes elderly members or small children, tell us at enquiry: the summit itself is easy walking, but Tipu’s Drop has real exposure and the pre-dawn cold catches people out. A later 7:00 AM departure for a relaxed day visit rather than a sunrise run is a perfectly good alternative and we will suggest it where it fits the group better.

School and College Picnic Package

Nandi Hills and Bhoga Nandeeshwara together make one of the better educational day trips near Bangalore — a fortified hill with a thousand years of layered history at the base, and a watershed that feeds five rivers across three states. We provide vehicle and driver documentation for institutional approval, multiple pickup points, and coordinated convoys for larger groups. School picnic bus booking enquiries are handled directly with the teacher organising the trip where that is easier than going through a purchasing department. We will flag honestly that peak weekends are a poor choice for a student group and that a weekday is a far better experience.

Budget and Luxury Tiers

For cost-led bookings we run non-AC 12 to 17 seater mini buses, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver. On a pre-dawn run to a hill station, non-AC is entirely comfortable for most of the year and the mini bus rate per km in bangalore for that tier is our lowest. At the other end, the executive mini coach configuration gives wider push-back seats and a quieter cabin, which is worth having on a four o’clock start when half the group intends to sleep on the way up. For a premium alternative in a smaller size band, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration runs the same route, and for parties under eight the cab rental bangalore fleet covers Innova Crysta and Fortuner.

Our Minibus Fleet in Bangalore

Our ac minibus rental bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations. We run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller groups

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, suitable for the highway but not for the Nandi ghat road

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, which is immaterial on a route of this length but worth stating plainly.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax, where a route crosses a state border

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. On a short route like this one that matters more proportionally than on a long run, and it is the honest explanation for why a 120 kilometre round trip is not billed as 120 kilometres — for a 4:00 AM pickup the vehicle leaves our garage well before that. We factor it into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay, and for most Nandi Hills bookings we quote a flat day package rather than a per-kilometre rate because it is simpler for everyone.

Three route-specific notes. There is no interstate tax, since the trip stays within Karnataka. The gate entry fee is collected per head at the checkpoint and paid directly by passengers, not through us. And where private vehicle access on the hill stretch is regulated, any shuttle or designated transport charge is also settled locally.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

How to Book a Mini Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a mini bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date, and tell us whether you want the sunrise trip or a relaxed day visit.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location or locations — area, building or landmark such as Hebbal, Manyata, Whitefield, MG Road or Koramangala.

•             Share your group size.

•             Share your preferred mini bus tier: Standard AC, Executive Mini Coach or Luxury.

•             Tell us if you want to add Bhoga Nandeeshwara, a vineyard visit, Devanahalli fort or Avalabetta on the return leg.

•             For corporate bookings from Bangalore tech parks, share your GST number and preferred invoicing format.

•             For school and college picnics, tell us how many pickup points you need and whether you require documentation for institutional approval.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote itemises every charge:

•             Mini bus hire rate — a flat day package for most Nandi Hills bookings, or per kilometre if you prefer

•             Driver allowance — Rs 500 to Rs 800 per day depending on vehicle

•             Applicable toll estimates

•             GST

•             No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•             We will also tell you the current access position on the hill stretch, so you know whether the vehicle goes to the top or the group transfers at the base.

•             For Bangalore IT sector corporate clients, a Proforma Invoice is available at this stage for PO-based approval.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and guarantees the specific mini bus variant on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time and the sequence of pickup points

•             Full billing breakdown — all sent to WhatsApp or email in writing

•             For weekends, long weekends and the November to February peak, book ahead. Entry restrictions apply on some peak dates and we will tell you if yours is affected.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Mini Bus Arrive Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the confirmed first pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure — for a 4:00 AM start that means the vehicle leaves our garage well before three thirty.

•             The mini bus will be clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.

•             The driver calls each pickup contact 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the driver handles routing, toll payments and the ghat road, and fixes a return point and time with the group at the top.

•             At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup areas and travel date. Written mini bus quote in 2 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Nandi Hills Minibus

The bangalore to nandi hills distance is approximately 60 kilometres from central Bangalore via NH44 through Hebbal, Yelahanka, the airport and Devanahalli, exiting at Nandi Cross. On an empty pre-dawn road the drive takes about ninety minutes including the ghat climb. Later in the day, with Hebbal and the airport corridor busy, allow up to two hours. The distance from your actual pickup point matters more than the headline figure — from Whitefield or Electronic City add thirty to forty-five minutes to the start of the run.

Between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM from central Bangalore for most of the year, which gets you to the top with time to find a position before first light. From the southern and eastern suburbs, leave earlier. If sunrise is not the point, a 7:00 AM departure gives a far more relaxed morning and the hill is at its best in the earlier part of the day anyway. We will advise on the departure time once you tell us your pickup points and what you want from the trip.

The gate typically opens around 6:00 AM and closes around 6:00 PM, with a nominal per-head entry fee collected at the checkpoint and paid directly by passengers rather than through us. Both have changed more than once, so we confirm the current position close to your travel date. Two-wheelers are not permitted beyond the checkpoint. Note that the gate opening time and the sunrise time do not always align neatly in every season, which is another reason to have the conversation rather than assume.

Usually yes, and our drivers do this road regularly. But access on the hill stretch is being actively regulated — vehicle restrictions, foothill parking, shuttle services and a ropeway have all been announced or trialled to manage the crowding, which on peak days has run to tens of thousands of visitors. Where private vehicles are restricted, the group transfers to the designated service at the base and the minibus waits below, which works perfectly well provided it is planned. We check the current position before every trip and tell you what applies to your date.

Yes, occasionally, and it is worth knowing before you book. General tourist entry has been banned outright over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in recent years to manage crowds, with access limited to guests holding confirmed government guest house bookings. The hill road has also been closed for single-day sporting events. Under our cancellation policy any official entry restriction on your travel date is treated as force majeure — full refund within 2 working days or a free date change.

For most Nandi Hills bookings we quote a flat day package rather than a per-kilometre rate, because it is simpler and more predictable for a short trip. Pricing starts from around Rs 10,200. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Charged separately are toll and parking, and GST. The gate entry fee is paid per head at the checkpoint. There is no interstate tax on this route. Billing is calculated garage to garage, which on a pre-dawn start means the vehicle’s day begins well before your pickup — we build that into the flat package so there is nothing to reconcile afterwards.

Yes, and on this route we do it as standard at no extra charge where the points lie along the way north — Hebbal, Manyata, Thanisandra, Yelahanka and Jakkur all sit naturally on the route. Pickups requiring a substantial detour across the city are quoted with the additional kilometres shown. Give us the pickup points and rough passenger split at enquiry and the driver plans the sequence and calls each contact thirty minutes ahead.

Carry warm layers — at 1,478 metres before sunrise in December or January it is genuinely cold, and groups routinely underdress. Bring water and sun protection for later in the morning. Do not carry visible food or packaged snacks, because the monkeys at the top are numerous and confident. The summit is easy walking and suits all ages, but Tipu’s Drop has real exposure beyond the railing and is not a place to let children roam. Tell us at enquiry if your group includes elderly members and we will plan the drop point to shorten the walk.

Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple at the foot of the hill is the best addition and almost everyone drives past it — a thousand years of Bana, Ganga, Chola, Hoysala and Vijayanagara work in one complex, with a large stepped Kalyani, and it takes an hour. Beyond that, Devanahalli fort and the Nandi Valley vineyards fit the return leg comfortably, and Avalabetta and Kaivara make a longer second half-day. Skandagiri is a serious night trek rather than an add-on. Tell us what you want and we quote the day as one number.
