Places to Visit in Mannargudi

Rajagopalaswamy Temple and the Haridra Nadi

Rajagopalaswamy Temple and the Haridra Nadi

The temple covers around twenty-three acres with sixteen gopurams, seven prakarams and a rajagopuram of some hundred and fifty feet, and it is one of the principal Vaishnavite complexes in Tamil Nadu - the Dakshina Dwaraka, where Krishna is worshipped as Rajagopalaswamy. The thousand-pillar hall and the carved mandapams reward slow looking. Beside it lies the Haridra Nadi, a tank of around twenty-three acres, among the largest attached to any temple in India. Visit in the morning or the evening session; the temple closes for a long midday break and the tank is at its best at either end of the day.

Tiruvarur Thyagaraja Temple

Tiruvarur Thyagaraja Temple

Twenty-five kilometres north, this is a very large Shiva complex with a substantial prakaram and the Kamalalayam tank, and it holds the temple chariot that is the largest in Asia at around ninety-six tonnes. The Azhi Ther festival, when it is drawn through the streets by thousands of people, is among the more extraordinary sights in Tamil Nadu. Outside the festival the chariot stands in its shed and is worth seeing simply for the scale of it. Visit in the morning and allow two hours for the temple and the chariot together.

Vaduvur Bird Sanctuary

Vaduvur Bird Sanctuary

Around twenty-five kilometres from Mannargudi, Vaduvur is a large irrigation tank that becomes a significant heronry and wintering ground - painted storks, open-billed storks, spoonbills, ibises, pelicans, cormorants and darters nest and roost here in numbers, with the surrounding trees full of nests in season. There is a watchtower. Visit at dawn between November and February, which is when the birds are in and the light is best. It is entirely unvisited by comparison with the temples and it is among the better wetland sites in the delta.

Muthupet Mangroves

Muthupet Mangroves

Around forty kilometres south-east where the Cauvery distributaries meet the sea, Muthupet holds one of the larger mangrove forests on the east coast - a lagoon and a network of creeks running out to a sandbar, with boat trips through the channels arranged by the forest department and local operators. It is quieter and considerably less developed than Pichavaram to the north, which some visitors prefer. Visit in the morning between November and February. Boat operation depends on water conditions and is weather-dependent, so confirm on the day rather than building a fixed schedule around it.

Thirukkannapuram and the Delta Temples

Thirukkannapuram and the Delta Temples

Thirukkannapuram, around thirty kilometres away, is one of the hundred and eight Divya Desams and holds the Neelamega Perumal temple, a substantial complex that Vaishnavite pilgrims include with Mannargudi on a delta circuit. The surrounding country is dense with temples of real antiquity - Thirunallar, Thiruvarur, Thirukkuvalai and others within an hour, several of them Padal Petra Sthalams or Divya Desams. Visit as many or as few as your interest supports; for anyone doing a systematic circuit this district is one of the richest in India and one of the least travelled.

Point Calimere

Point Calimere

Around sixty kilometres south, at the point where the coast turns west, Point Calimere is a Ramsar-listed wetland of tidal flats, saltpans and dry evergreen forest, and greater flamingos arrive here in very large numbers between November and February alongside pelicans, storks and waders. Blackbuck and spotted deer are in the forest. Visit at dawn in the winter months; outside that window the birds are largely gone. It combines with Muthupet into a full day of coast and wetland, which is a genuinely different trip from the temple circuit and a good counterweight to it.

Bus Packages for the Bangalore to Mannargudi Route

Corporate Package

Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams travelling into the delta for plant visits, dealer meets, offsites and annual heritage trips. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day charter, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate bus rental bangalore vehicle stays with your team across the Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Mannargudi legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.

Family and Pilgrimage Package

By far the most common booking on this corridor. Temple committees, trusts, associations and extended families of thirty to fifty, travelling four to six days and frequently timing the trip around the Panguni chariot festival. Itineraries are built around temple opening hours rather than driving hours, and the driver is briefed to expect three-hour waits at each complex. Festival dates need booking months ahead, since accommodation and vehicles across the whole delta tighten at the same time.

Budget Package

For groups where cost per head decides whether the trip happens at all, which describes a great many association and trust bookings. Non-AC 27 to 41 seater coaches, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The bus rent per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across an 880 kilometre round trip the saving across a full coach is substantial. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only. Maintenance standards and driver vetting do not change between tiers.

Luxury Package

Volvo and Benz coaches with wider push-back seats, better suspension for the narrower delta roads, superior sound insulation and premium interiors. Over 440 kilometres each way, with the vehicle serving as the group’s base for several days, that specification is practical rather than decorative. Suited to senior management travel, milestone family trips and large weddings. Our volvo bus rental bangalore tier is the usual choice here, and for smaller premium groups the luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration reaches closer to the temple entrances.

Our Bus Fleet in Bangalore

Our ac bus rental bangalore fleet covers 27 to 50 seater coaches, including Volvo and Benz. Every group vehicle category runs from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount shifts after booking, or if the itinerary argues for a smaller coach in the delta towns, we can usually change category without restarting the process.

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, AC and non-AC

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, the easiest large-group option on narrow temple-town streets

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller parties on the same corridor

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle is seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why we plan the Mannargudi run as an early-morning daytime drive with proper meal halts rather than an overnight haul. Groups arrive fit to walk a twenty-three acre temple complex the same evening, which is the whole point of the trip.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax for the Karnataka to Tamil Nadu crossing

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the coach leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. That distance is already built into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you settle. For trust and association bookings that need committee approval, we are happy to issue the quote in a format that can be tabled directly.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the entire fleet.

How to Book a Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location — area, tech park or hotel name, such as Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata, the BIAL airport area or MG Road.

•             Share your destination or full day-wise itinerary.

•             Share your total group size.

•             Share your preferred bus tier: Standard, Executive, Luxury, Volvo or Benz.

•             Tell us if you are travelling for the Panguni festival or another festival date, since the whole delta books out well in advance.

•             For multi-day delta hire covering Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Velankanni or Kumbakonam, provide the full day-wise itinerary so we can allocate a driver experienced on those roads.

•             For monthly employee commute contract hire, share the route and schedule details.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote itemises every charge:

•             Bus hire rate — per kilometre or flat local package

•             Driver allowance

•             Applicable toll estimates

•             Interstate permit and state tax for the Karnataka to Tamil Nadu crossing

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM for late-running temple days

•             GST

•             No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•             For trusts, associations and corporate clients, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage for committee or PO-based approval.

•             Request comparison quotes for a 35 seater versus a 45 seater at the same time, since coach size affects how close you can stand to the temple entrances.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and guarantees the specific bus on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time

•             Pickup location confirmation

•             Full billing breakdown — all sent to WhatsApp or email in writing

•             For peak dates such as the Panguni Brahmotsavam, New Year, Diwali, Dasara and long IT weekends, book well ahead and pay the advance early.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Bus Arrive Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•             For large groups from Electronic City or Whitefield, the driver coordinates the exact pickup gate in advance.

•             The bus is clean, sanitised, fuelled and GPS-active.

•             The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the driver handles all highway exits, toll payments, the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu border permit, temple standing points and rest stop coordination.

•             At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written bus hire quote in 2 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Mannargudi Bus

The bangalore to mannargudi distance by road is approximately 440 kilometres via Hosur, Krishnagiri, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Thanjavur and Needamangalam, which is the route we run. That works out to eight and a half to nine and a half hours of driving before meal halts. Leaving Bangalore between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM puts most groups in Mannargudi by mid to late afternoon, with the first evening free for the temple.

Bus fares around Rs 35,660. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Not right up to it. The streets around the temple precinct are old and narrow, so a full-size coach uses an established standing point a short walk away, which our drivers already know. This is normal for delta temple towns and easy to plan around. If your itinerary includes several smaller shrines with tight approaches, a 27 or 35 seater moves more freely and we will recommend it at the quote stage rather than after you have booked.

The Panguni Brahmotsavam at the Rajagopalaswamy Temple runs eighteen days in the Tamil month of Panguni, generally falling across March and April, with the chariot procession as its centrepiece. It is the busiest and most rewarding time to visit, and also the hardest to arrange, since accommodation and vehicles across the whole delta commit months in advance. If you want those dates, enquire early and expect a higher advance.

A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific bus on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For festival dates and Volvo or Benz coaches a higher advance may be requested, since those units are limited.

Yes. Crossing from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu requires a valid interstate permit and the associated state tax, billed at actuals rather than absorbed into the base rate. We arrange all permit documentation before departure, so there is nothing for you to organise. It is checked at the Attibele post shortly after Hosur and our drivers handle it as routine on every delta run.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route we plan an early morning departure and a daytime drive with proper meal halts instead of continuous overnight driving, which is safer and means the group arrives fit to walk a twenty-three acre temple complex the same evening. We can suggest accommodation options at Mannargudi or Thanjavur when you share your itinerary.

Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same coach and driver remain with you throughout, covering Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Velankanni, Muthupet, Point Calimere and Nachiyar Koil, plus any onward leg to Kumbakonam or Rameswaram. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one figure.

Three days covers the temple itself: travel down on day one, Mannargudi and Tiruvarur on day two, and the return with Thanjavur on the way on day three. Four or five days lets you add Velankanni, Muthupet or Point Calimere and the coastal stretch at Tharangambadi without rushing temple timings. Groups extending to Kumbakonam and the Navagraha circuit usually plan six to seven days, since it sits only about an hour away.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking.
