Places to Visit in Wayanad

Chembra Peak

Chembra Peak

Chembra Peak is the highest point in Wayanad at close to 2,100 metres, and it is the first name that comes up whenever people search for trekking in Wayanad. The trail winds through tea plantations before opening into wide grasslands, and roughly halfway up sits the heart-shaped Chembra Lake, a natural landmark that never dries out even in peak summer. Trekking is permitted only in the morning hours and requires a forest department pass, so travellers usually plan this as the first stop after checking into their resort. The reason this peak features on almost every Wayanad itinerary is the view from the top: on a clear day you can see across the district into neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with layers of the Western Ghats fading into the horizon. Photographers and honeymoon couples in particular ask us to build a full day around this trek, since the drive up to the base and the return can take a good part of the morning.

Photographers and honeymoon couples in particular ask us to build a full day around this trek, since the drive up to the base and the return can take a good part of the morning.

Edakkal Caves

Edakkal Caves

The Edakkal Caves near Sultan Bathery are two natural rock shelters carrying engravings that date back several thousand years, making them one of the oldest pieces of evidence of human habitation in South India. A short but steep climb up Ambukuthi Hill leads to the cleft in the rock where the carvings are visible, alongside sweeping views of the valley below. History enthusiasts and school groups travelling on a Bangalore to Wayanad car rental often prioritise this stop because it combines a short trek with genuine archaeological significance, unlike a typical viewpoint. The caves close by early afternoon, so cabs booked with Tejas Travels usually schedule this visit either right after breakfast or immediately following Chembra Peak, depending on which side of Wayanad the resort is located.

Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India, and its reservoir has slowly created a scatter of small forested islands that sit against the backdrop of the Banasura Hills. Visitors can walk along the top of the dam, rent a jeep ride around the periphery, or simply sit by the water in the evening, which makes it one of the easiest stops to fit into any schedule regardless of fitness level. Families booking a Bangalore to Wayanad taxi for a relaxed holiday tend to add this to their second or third day, since it needs very little walking compared to Chembra Peak or the caves. During the monsoon months the dam fills close to capacity and is considered one of the most photographed spots in the district.

Pookode Lake

Pookode Lake

Pookode Lake is a small, natural freshwater lake close to Vythiri that is shaped, unusually, like the map of India when viewed from above. It sits at a comfortable elevation surrounded by wooded hills, and the site includes paddle boating, a small aquarium and a children's park, which makes it a favourite with families travelling on a Wayanad tour package from Bangalore. Because it is close to the Kozhikode-Mysore highway, cabs travelling toward Kalpetta or Vythiri often stop here on the way in, before check-in, rather than treating it as a separate outing. The lake rarely gets crowded before mid-morning, so an early stop usually means calmer water and better photographs.

Soochipara Falls

Soochipara Falls

Also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, Soochipara Falls drops around 200 metres in three tiers through dense forest near Vellarimala. A short walk from the parking area brings visitors to the base of the falls, where the rock face is popular with climbers and the pool below is open for a swim outside the monsoon season. Trekkers and younger travellers researching things to do in Wayanad usually rank this waterfall alongside Chembra Peak as one of the two must-do outdoor stops, and drivers familiar with the route generally suggest visiting early to avoid both the afternoon crowd and the security checks at the entrance, which can add up during peak season.

Kuruva Island

Kuruva Island

Kuruva Island, also called Kuruvadweep, is a 950-acre protected river delta on the Kabini River, made up of densely forested, uninhabited islets connected by bamboo rafts and small footbridges. Entry is controlled by the forest department, and the island is closed during the monsoon, so travellers usually check availability before adding it to their itinerary. Birdwatchers and anyone interested in Wayanad's wildlife beyond the sanctuaries tend to request this stop specifically, since the flora here includes rare orchids, medicinal plants and several bird species that are harder to spot elsewhere in the district. It works well as a half-day addition for travellers who have booked a longer Bangalore to Wayanad cab itinerary rather than a quick weekend trip.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, spread across the Muthanga and Tholpetty ranges, forms part of the larger Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and connects to the Bandipur and Nagarhole forests across the state border. Jeep safaris run at fixed morning and evening slots and offer a real chance of spotting elephants, deer, and if you are fortunate, a distant tiger or leopard. This is usually the first stop suggested to anyone booking an outstation cab Bangalore to Wayanad specifically for wildlife viewing, since the sanctuary sits close to the Karnataka border and can be visited on the way in if timed correctly. Safari slots are limited, so it is best to have your driver confirm timings a day in advance.

Thirunelli Temple

Thirunelli Temple

Thirunelli Temple, tucked into the Brahmagiri hills near Mananthavady, is one of Kerala's oldest Vishnu temples and is often referred to as the Kashi of the South for its role in ancestral rites. The temple architecture, with its stone pillars and surrounding forest, draws both pilgrims and travellers who simply want a quieter, spiritual stop away from the busier parts of the district. It sits roughly an hour from Kalpetta, so most itineraries pair it with the nearby Pakshipathalam trekking trail or treat it as the final stop before heading back toward Bangalore. Families looking for a temple visit as part of their Bangalore to Wayanad tour package usually schedule this for the last day.

Bangalore to Wayanad Bus Packages

Every quote is built around group size, trip duration and vehicle tier. The four structures below cover the majority of bangalore to wayanad bus package enquiries we receive.

Corporate Package

Wayanad is the most booked corporate offsite destination from Bangalore after Coorg, because a resort, a trek and a wildlife safari fit inside two nights. Executive and multi-axle coaches with pushback seating, onboard PA, curtains and charging points. Includes GST-compliant invoicing, Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, 30-day credit terms for registered accounts and one point of contact for the movement. Multi-bus convoys are staggered so the whole group clears Bandipur together. Companies running regular movement should review our corporate travels and employee transport service contracts for corporate bus rental bangalore on a monthly basis.

Family and Group Package

For extended families, apartment communities and friend groups of 13 to 30 people. A 17 or 26-seater AC coach is the practical sweet spot in Wayanad because the roads between Kalpetta, Meppadi and Ambalavayal are narrower than the highway that got you there. Includes a flexible itinerary, unlimited stops within the quoted kilometre band, and coordination of jeep transfers at Edakkal and Banasura. Groups under thirteen should compare a tempo traveller or a mini bus bangalore to wayanad option, which reaches several sites the coach cannot.

Budget and Student Package

Standard AC and non-AC coaches for college batches, school nature camps and cost-sensitive community travel. Wayanad is a common biology and geography field-trip destination because of the Nilgiri Biosphere designation, and Muthanga safari plus a spice plantation visit makes a defensible academic itinerary. Institutional bookings get seat-belt-equipped vehicles, police-verified drivers, live GPS shared with the office and a female attendant on request. See our student transportation management page for the full school excursion bus rental bangalore protocol.

Luxury and Sleeper Package

Air-suspension Volvo and BharatBenz multi-axle coaches with recliner or semi-sleeper seating, onboard entertainment and toilet-equipped variants. The case for this tier on Wayanad is the arrival state: a group that reaches Kalpetta after seven hours in a basic coach loses the first afternoon. Explore the full volvo bus rental bangalore fleet, and our wedding car rental range for Wayanad resort weddings, which have grown steadily as a Bangalore destination-wedding option.

Our Services Across Bangalore and Mysore

Tejas Tours and Travels runs a full ground-transport fleet from both Bangalore and Mysore. On a Wayanad charter the Mysore base matters practically, since it sits on the route and a substitute vehicle can reach the Bandipur corridor quickly if one is ever needed.

Cab and Car Rental

Sedans, SUVs and premium cars for one to seven passengers, and the most flexible option for the narrow estate roads around Meppadi and Vythiri. Explore car rental bangalore options covering luxury car rental bangalore and premium cab classes, or the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, a 6 and 7 seater innova hycross rental Bangalore option that handles the Wayanad interior comfortably.

Tempo Traveller and Urbania

The 12 to 26 seat bracket, and the class of vehicle that reaches the most Wayanad sites without a jeep transfer. Our luxury tempo traveller bangalore fleet covers standard and pushback tt vehicle configurations, and the force urbania rent bangalore range offers urbania van rental with 13 and 17 seat luxury layouts for small premium groups.

Bus and Mini Bus

From 18-seat mini coaches through to 49-seat full-size buses. Browse the complete bus rental in bangalore fleet for rental bus booking and luxury bus configurations, or the mini bus in bangalore range covering minibus rental and mini bus booking online for groups of 18 to 32.

Airport, Employee and School Transport

Beyond leisure charters we handle daily contract movement. Airport transfer bangalore covers kempegowda airport taxi and airport cab booking with live flight tracking. Employee transportation services bangalore covers night shift cab service bangalore, office cab service bangalore and staff transportation services for tech parks across Whitefield, Electronic City and Manyata. School bus service bangalore covers school transportation services and school bus rental bangalore.

Outstation and Wedding

Outstation cabs bangalore covers outstation cab booking and outstation vehicle booking across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Goa. Wedding car rental bangalore covers wedding cars for rent, marriage car rental bangalore and wedding bus rental Bangalore for guest movement between venue, hotel and airport.

Billing Details for Bangalore to Wayanad Bus Hire

Tejas Tours and Travels prices every bangalore to wayanad bus charter garage to garage. That means the meter runs from the moment the vehicle leaves our garage to the moment it returns, which is the standard commercial basis for outstation charter in Karnataka. We state it openly at quotation stage so there is no dispute at settlement.

Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.

Includes

•      Base fare and fuel charges

•      Driver allowance

Excludes

•      Toll and parking charges

•      Inter-state tax and permit charges

•      Driver bata extra after 9:45 PM

•      Final rental will be based on total kilometres and hours, calculated from our garage to garage

•      GST

Kerala border note: Inter-state tax and permit charges do apply on this route and are collected at the Muthanga checkpost. This is the main cost difference between Wayanad and a Karnataka-only destination, and we itemise the estimate in the written quote rather than adding it at settlement. Site entry fees, forest department safari tickets and jeep transfer charges at Edakkal, Banasura and Muthanga are also not included in the hire rate.

Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance by company. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance cover, particularly for multi-day and interstate journeys involving treks and water activities.

How to Book a Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•      Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•      Share your travel date and Bangalore pickup location — area, tech park, or hotel name such as Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata, BIAL airport area or MG Road.

•      Share your destination or full day-wise itinerary, total group size, and preferred bus tier: Standard, Executive, Luxury, Volvo or BharatBenz.

•      For Wayanad, Ooty, Munnar, Goa and multi-day bus hire from Bangalore, provide the full itinerary so we can allocate a driver experienced on the specific route and its border formalities.

•      Tell us if Edakkal Caves, Muthanga safari, Chembra Peak or Kuruva Island are on the plan, so we can avoid a Monday for Edakkal and schedule the jeep-dependent sites correctly.

•      For monthly employee commute contract hire, share the route and schedule details.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•      Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•      The quote itemizes every charge: bus hire rate in rupees per km or as a flat local package.

•      Driver allowance is stated separately, from Rs 700 to Rs 1,250 per day depending on the vehicle.

•      Applicable toll estimates are included.

•      Kerala border tax and permit costs are estimated separately, as are Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati, Tamil Nadu for Ooty and Goa where relevant.

•      Driver night halt charges are shown for multi-day hire.

•      No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•      For MICE and corporate clients, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage for PO-based approval.

•      Request comparison quotes for Standard versus Executive bus hire at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•      Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•      A 20 percent advance payment confirms the booking and guarantees the specific bus on your date.

•      For Wayanad, Ooty, Coorg and overnight hire from Bangalore during New Year, Onam, Diwali and summer holiday peaks, book well ahead and pay the advance early.

•      For large corporate bookings above Rs 50,000, a higher advance may be required.

•      Payment options: UPI including Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm; NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer; or credit and debit card via payment link.

•      Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

•      Confirmation includes driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup confirmation and full billing breakdown — all in writing.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Bus Arrive Early

•      Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•      For large groups from Electronic City or Whitefield, the driver coordinates the exact pickup gate.

•      The bus is clean, sanitized, fuelled and GPS-active.

•      The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival.

•      During the trip, the driver handles all NH exits, toll payments, the Muthanga border formalities and rest stop coordination, and takes the Mysuru ring road rather than routing a coach through the city.

•      At trip end, the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•      Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick bus hire booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written bus hire quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Bus for Rent and Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance deposits and final settlement at trip end.

•      UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI. Fastest method with instant confirmation. Recommended for advance deposits on bus hire.

•      Bank Transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS. For large corporate hire above Rs 15,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•      Cash — Balance payable at time of travel and accepted at trip end. Advance must be digital for bus hire confirmation. Receipt issued.

•      Corporate Credit — For registered corporate accounts, 30-day credit terms for signed corporate clients with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

Bus hire note: A 20 percent advance confirms the specific bus on your date. For Wayanad, Ooty, Munnar and large peak-date Bangalore corporate hire bookings, a higher advance may apply. Volvo, sleeper and BharatBenz bus hire should be confirmed well ahead with advance payment.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Wayanad Bus

The bangalore to wayanad distance on the coach route is approximately 290 kilometres via Mysuru, Gundlupet, Bandipur and Muthanga to Kalpetta. Expect six and a half to seven and a half hours including two meal stops and forest checkpost queues. Other routes quoted online range from 264 to 330 kilometres, but they run on narrower roads with earlier curfews and are not suitable for a full-size coach.

The highway through Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka and Muthanga in Kerala is closed to all vehicles from 9 PM to 6 AM to protect wildlife. There are no passes and no exceptions for tourist vehicles. Because Bangalore to the forest entry is around six hours in real conditions, a group departing after midday risks not clearing the gate that evening. We build a hard checkpoint at Gundlupet into the schedule.

Yes to the permit, and no to the tax being included. Our coaches carry all-India tourist permits and the driver handles the formalities, but Kerala border tax and permit charges are collected at the Muthanga checkpost and are excluded from the hire rate. We estimate them in the written quote rather than adding them at settlement. Allow twenty to forty minutes at the checkpost.

No, and this is the most common surprise. Edakkal Caves needs a jeep from the base parking plus a steep walk. Muthanga and Tholpetty safaris run in forest department jeeps only. Chembra Peak needs a permit and a guide. Banasura Sagar needs a jeep or a climb to the dam top. Your coach acts as the base vehicle at each of these and the transfers are arranged locally. A tempo traveller reaches more sites directly than a 45-seater does.

20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking and guarantee the specific vehicle on your date. The advance is payable by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or card via payment link, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. For bookings above Rs 50,000 and for peak dates such as Onam and New Year, a higher advance may be requested.

The fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. It excludes toll and parking, inter-state tax and permit charges, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. Site entry fees, safari tickets and local jeep transfers are also excluded. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and everything is itemized in the written quote before you confirm.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance by company. Our vehicles carry all statutory commercial vehicle insurance and valid permits, but passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance cover, particularly for a trip involving treks, waterfalls and water activities.

Muthanga safari booking cannot be done online. Forest department jeeps are issued from the queue on the day, with roughly forty jeeps in the morning session and twenty in the evening, and a maximum of seven passengers per jeep. A group of thirty needs five jeeps and someone in the queue early. We schedule the coach to reach the gate before the counter opens, which is usually the difference between getting the whole group in and splitting it across two sessions.

Yes, subject to notice period. Cancellation more than 7 days before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Charges then step up: 10 percent at 4 to 7 days, 25 percent at 48 hours to 4 days, 50 percent at 24 to 48 hours, and 75 percent under 24 hours. If Tejas Travels cancels for operational reasons, or if a monsoon closure makes the itinerary unsafe, you receive a full refund or a free date change.

October to May gives the most reliable conditions, with October and November particularly good because the waterfalls are still full after the monsoon and everything is green. Kuruva Island closes during the June to September monsoon and some trek routes shut. Two days covers the main sites and three lets you add a safari, Kuruva and the Mananthavady side without rushing.
