Places to Visit in Nagarhole

Nagarhole National Park Jeep Safari

Nagarhole National Park Jeep Safari

The single biggest draw for a trip to Nagarhole is the jeep safari through its dense teak and rosewood forests, bamboo groves and open grasslands. The park is home to tigers, leopards, elephants, gaur, sloth bears, dhole and the elusive melanistic black panther that occasionally makes an appearance near the Kabini side. Safaris run in the early morning and late afternoon slots through the Karapura and Veeranahosahalli gates, and sightings are strongest near the water bodies where animals gather to drink, particularly in the summer months. Since safari permits are limited and allotted by the Forest Department and Jungle Lodges and Resorts, booking your slot in advance and arriving on time with your driver makes a real difference to your chances of a good sighting.

Kabini River Backwaters and Boat Safari

Kabini River Backwaters and Boat Safari

The Kabini river backwaters, formed by the Kabini reservoir, are one of the few places in India where you can watch tigers and elephants from the safety and comfort of a boat. A slow boat safari along the shoreline at dawn or dusk offers close sightings of elephant herds coming down to drink, along with crocodiles, otters and a wide variety of water birds. The still water and forested backdrop also make this one of the most photographed landscapes in Karnataka, and many travellers rate the boat safari as the highlight of their entire Nagarhole trip.

Kabini Dam

Kabini Dam

Built across the Kabini river near Beechanahalli village, the Kabini Dam supplies irrigation water to numerous villages in Mysuru and Kodagu districts and forms the very backwaters that make this region famous for wildlife viewing. The dam site itself, framed by hills and forest on either side, is a peaceful spot for an evening walk or a short photography stop, especially just after the monsoon when the reservoir is at its fullest and the surrounding greenery is at its best.

Karapura Elephant Camp

Karapura Elephant Camp

Karapura, close to the main safari gate, is home to a forest department elephant camp where captive elephants used for patrolling and anti-poaching duties are cared for and occasionally put on display for visitors. Watching the mahouts bathe and feed the elephants by the riverbank offers an insight into the working relationship between the forest department and these gentle giants, and it is a favourite quick stop for families travelling with children before or after a safari.

Kutta Village and Coffee Estates

Kutta Village and Coffee Estates

Just across the Karnataka and Kerala border, the small town of Kutta is surrounded by sprawling coffee, pepper and cardamom estates that give this part of Kodagu district its distinct aroma and character. A short drive or walk through these plantation roads, lined with silver oak and areca trees, is a relaxing contrast to the safari drives, and several estate homestays here welcome day visitors for a guided walk and a cup of estate grown coffee.

Taraka Dam

Taraka Dam

Taraka Dam, a smaller reservoir near the edges of the Nagarhole forest belt, is a quieter and less crowded alternative to Kabini Dam for travellers who prefer solitude over popular viewpoints. Surrounded by paddy fields and forest on the fringes, it is a good spot for casual birdwatching and a relaxed picnic stop, particularly for those extending their stay beyond a single day safari.

Birdwatching Trails Near Kabini

Birdwatching Trails Near Kabini

With over 270 recorded bird species, the forest and wetland edges around Nagarhole and Kabini are considered one of Karnataka's finest birdwatching destinations. Regular sightings include the Malabar pied hornbill, Malabar trogon, grey headed fish eagle, osprey and a range of migratory water birds that arrive in the cooler months. Most resorts organise early morning guided birdwatching walks along the forest fringe trails, which is an easy way to spot species that jeep safaris often miss.

Veeranahosahalli Nature Trails

Veeranahosahalli Nature Trails

The Veeranahosahalli gate on the northern side of Nagarhole, closer to Hunsur, offers quieter mini bus safaris and forest nature walks compared to the more popular Kabini side. This route is a good option for travellers who want a shorter, calmer forest experience without the safari vehicle crowd near the main gate, and it also serves as an alternative entry point when the main gate slots are fully booked.

Bangalore to Nagarhole Bus Packages

Packages here are built around safari slots and gate choice rather than around sightseeing hours.

School and College Nature Study Package

Our largest category on this route, and the reason Nagarhole matters. Because the forest department bus safari costs a fraction of a jeep safari, a full class can go into a tiger reserve at a price that a school trip budget can actually absorb. Non-AC and Standard AC buses in 32, 40 and 45-seater configurations, with GPS tracking available for the institution to monitor, valid fitness and permit documents carried on board, and drivers selected on experience and conduct record. Multiple buses for a year group are coordinated to travel and park together. This is core school excursion bus rental bangalore and college trip bus rental bangalore work, and we can build the itinerary around the interpretation centre so the trip has academic structure.

Corporate Offsite Package

A wildlife offsite that does not need a five-star budget, with the added advantage that mobile signal is patchy and the team is genuinely off the grid. Executive or Volvo coaches with reclining seats and charging points, multi-point pickup across Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata, Bellandur and the ORR corridor, and a departure schedule built backwards from your safari slot. GST invoicing, Proforma Invoice for purchase-order approval and consolidated monthly billing are standard on every corporate bus rental bangalore booking.

Wildlife and Photography Group Package

Photography clubs and nature societies need very early departures for the first safari slot, secure luggage space for long lenses and tripods, and a driver who stays at the range office rather than disappearing for the morning. A 21 or 27-seater is usually the right vehicle. Serious photography groups generally want the Kabini side for jeep access, so we often plan these as split itineraries covering both the northern gate and the backwaters over three nights.

Family and Luxury Package

For extended families and premium leisure groups, with 21 and 27-seater AC mini coaches for most bookings and Volvo or BharatBenz coaches for larger parties where the property can accommodate them. Where elderly passengers are travelling, the forest department bus safari is often the easier ride, and we recommend basing near the gate to avoid long transfers before a 6 am start.

Our Services

Tejas Tours and Travels operates a full ground-transport fleet across Bangalore and Mysore, from a single sedan to a fifty-seater coach. On a route like Nagarhole, where Mysuru is the natural support base and gate choice can change the vehicle, being able to combine classes under one booking matters.

Cabs and Premium Cars

Sedans, SUVs and premium cars for point-to-point travel, day rentals and multi-day outstation trips. Our car rental bangalore fleet runs from an Etios to a Mercedes, and the 6-seater Toyota Innova Hycross is the most requested vehicle for small family groups heading into the forest belt.

Tempo Traveller and Force Urbania

For groups of nine to seventeen, a luxury tempo traveller bangalore handles forest-edge lodge access that a coach cannot, and is the vehicle we recommend for split itineraries covering more than one gate. For premium small-group travel, the force urbania rent bangalore option offers a monocoque body, better ride quality on rough surfaces and airline-style seating.

Bus, Minibus and Volvo Coach

The core of our group fleet. Choose from Standard, Executive and Luxury tiers for bus rental in bangalore, a compact mini bus rental in bangalore for 21 to 27 passengers, or a volvo bus rental bangalore coach for premium long-distance running.

Corporate, Employee and School Transport

Contracted daily transport is a separate vertical for us. We handle corporate travels bangalore accounts with monthly invoicing, employee transportation services bangalore covering night shift cab service and escort compliance, and school transportation services with GPS tracking and verified drivers.

Airport, Outstation and Wedding

Round-the-clock airport transfer bangalore with flight tracking for Kempegowda International, full outstation vehicle booking across Karnataka and neighbouring states, and decorated wedding car rental bangalore with matching guest buses for marriage logistics. All services are available from both our Bangalore and Mysore operations.

Billing Details for Bangalore to Nagarhole Bus Hire

We publish our billing structure openly because most disputes in this industry come from things that were never written down. Here is exactly how a bus rental bangalore to nagarhole invoice is built.

Advance Payment

•      20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking and block the specific vehicle for your date.

•      The remaining 80 percent is settled at the end of the trip, after the final kilometre and hour reading is taken.

Inclusions

•      Base fare and fuel charges.

•      Driver allowance.

Exclusions

•      Toll charges and parking fees.

•      Interstate tax and permit charges, where the itinerary crosses a state border. Not applicable to Nagarhole itself, but it does apply if the trip continues into Wayanad through Kutta.

•      Driver bata beyond 9:45 pm, charged extra for late-night running.

•      GST, applied as per prevailing rates.

•      The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and total hours, measured from our garage to garage — not from your pickup point to your drop point.

Safari Costs Are Separate

Forest department bus and canter safari charges, jeep safari charges through Jungle Lodges or an authorised lodge, and park entry fees are paid directly to the forest department or your lodge and do not form part of the bus rental invoice. We do not book safaris on your behalf, but we will schedule the bus around whatever slots you have secured.

Passenger Insurance

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover as part of the rental. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they require it, particularly institutional groups and organisations with their own coverage policies for student or employee travel.

Garage-to-garage billing explained: the meter starts when the bus leaves our depot and stops when it returns. On a Nagarhole trip this typically adds 20 to 40 kilometres to the trip total depending on your pickup area in Bangalore. The twenty-five kilometre run from the checkpost to the range office is counted as well, in both directions and on each safari day. We state this upfront in the written quote so there is no surprise at settlement.

How to Book a Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1: Contact Tejas Travels

•      Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•      Share your travel date and Bangalore pickup location — area, tech park, school or hotel name such as Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata, the BIAL airport area or MG Road.

•      Share your destination or full day-wise itinerary, total group size, and preferred bus tier: Standard, Executive, Luxury, Volvo or BharatBenz.

•      For Nagarhole, tell us which gate your safari is booked at — Veeranahosahalli, Nanachi or Kabini. This decides the route, the distance and the departure time.

•      Share your safari slot and the name of your lodge, so the schedule can be built around the slot and we can confirm road access with the property.

•      For school and college trips, share the number of buses needed and any accompanying staff requirements so vehicles travel and park together.

•      For Wayanad, Goa, Shirdi and other multi-day or interstate hire, provide the complete itinerary so we can allocate an experienced driver and arrange permits.

Step 2: Receive Your Written Quote

•      Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•      The quote itemizes every charge: bus hire rate in Rs per km or as a flat package, driver allowance of Rs 700 to 1,250 per day depending on the vehicle, applicable toll estimates, interstate permit costs where relevant, and driver night halt charges for multi-day hire.

•      No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•      For MICE, corporate and institutional clients, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage for purchase-order approval.

•      Request comparison quotes for Standard versus Executive bus hire at the same time.

Step 3: Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•      Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•      A 20 percent advance payment confirms the booking and guarantees the specific bus on your date.

•      For the November to May season, the April and May peak, and New Year, Diwali, Dasara and long-weekend dates — book well ahead. Safari slots usually run out before vehicles do.

•      For large corporate bookings above Rs 50,000, or for multi-bus school bookings, a higher advance may be required.

•      Payment options: UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm; NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer; or credit and debit card via payment link.

•      Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•      Confirmation includes driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup confirmation and the full billing breakdown — all in writing.

Step 4: Your Driver and Bus Arrive Early

•      Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•      For large groups from Electronic City or Whitefield, and for school pickups, the driver coordinates the exact gate in advance.

•      The bus is clean, sanitized, fuelled and GPS-active.

•      The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival.

•      During the trip, the driver handles all highway exits, toll payments, the fuel stop at Hunsur, checkpost formalities and rest stop coordination, and stays with the group for local running between the lodge and the safari range office.

•      At trip end, the balance is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick bus hire booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written bus hire quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Bus for Rent and Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance deposits and final settlement at trip end.

•      UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI. Fastest method with instant confirmation. Recommended for advance deposits on bus hire.

•      Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Used for large corporate hire above Rs 15,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•      Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•      Net banking — all major Indian banks, with the payment link sent via WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore MICE, corporate and school purchase-order approvals.

•      Cash — accepted for the balance at trip end. The advance must be digital for bus hire confirmation. A receipt is issued. Carry cash on this trip regardless, since card acceptance is unreliable past Hunsur.

•      Corporate credit — 30-day credit terms for signed corporate and institutional accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available. Useful for schools running several nature camps across a term.

A 20 percent advance confirms the specific bus on your date. For peak-season dates, long weekends and large institutional bookings, a higher advance may apply. Volvo and BharatBenz coaches should be confirmed well ahead with advance payment.

Cancellation Policy — Bus Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy for all bus hire in Bangalore. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation.

•      More than 7 days before departure — no cancellation charge. 100 percent of the advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days.

•      4 to 7 days before departure — 10 percent of the total trip fare. Advance refunded less the 10 percent deduction.

•      48 hours to 4 days before departure — 25 percent of the total trip fare. Advance refunded less the 25 percent deduction.

•      24 to 48 hours before departure — 50 percent of the total trip fare. Advance refunded less the 50 percent deduction.

•      Less than 24 hours before departure — 75 percent of the total trip fare. Minimal or no refund depending on trip value.

•      No-show, where the bus has been deployed and the group is absent — 100 percent of the total trip fare. No refund. Full fare payable.

•      Cancellation by Tejas Travels due to breakdown or force majeure — no charge. 100 percent refunded within 2 working days, or an alternate bus offered.

Special Cancellation Conditions for Bangalore Bus Hire

•      Weddings — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of a Bangalore wedding are non-refundable.

•      Multi-day outstation — Nagarhole, Kabini, Bandipur, Coorg, Wayanad and other multi-day routes require minimum 7-day notice for a full refund on overnight bus hire.

•      School and institutional bookings — where multiple buses are blocked for a single nature camp or excursion, minimum 7-day notice is required for a full refund on the full set.

•      Safari and lodge bookings — these are held with the forest department or your lodge and are governed entirely by their cancellation terms, not ours. Our policy covers the vehicle only.

•      Peak dates — New Year's Eve, Diwali, Dasara and Bangalore long weekends require minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund.

•      Force majeure — Bangalore bandhs, road closures, and forest department closures of Nagarhole including monsoon safari suspensions attract a 100 percent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period.

•      How to cancel — call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference. Cancellation confirmation within 2 hours, and the refund goes to the original payment method.

Refund Policy — Bus for Rent in Bangalore

All refunds are processed to the original payment instrument. No cash refund is issued unless the advance was paid in cash.

•      Cancellation 7 or more days before departure — 100 percent of the advance paid, in 5 to 7 working days.

•      Cancellation 4 to 7 days before departure — advance minus the 10 percent charge, in 5 to 7 working days.

•      Cancellation 48 hours to 4 days before departure — advance minus the 25 percent charge, in 7 working days.

•      Cancellation 24 to 48 hours before departure — advance minus the 50 percent charge, in 7 to 10 working days.

•      Cancellation by Tejas Travels for operational reasons — 100 percent of the advance paid, in 2 working days on priority.

•      Trip shortfall, where actual kilometres run are less than the minimum — proportional credit, settled at trip end.

•      Billing error or overcharge — the full overcharged amount, in 2 to 3 working days after verification.

•      Duplicate payment — the full duplicate amount, in 2 to 3 working days after confirmation.

Refund by Payment Method

•      UPI — refund to the UPI-linked bank account within 3 to 5 working days.

•      Credit or debit card — refund to the originating card within 5 to 7 working days.

•      Bank transfer — refund to the originating account within 3 to 5 working days, with account details re-confirmed before processing.

•      Cash — cash refund at the Tejas Travels Bangalore office, or via IMPS within 5 working days.

•      Refund contact — WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference, advance receipt and refund reason. Confirmation within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Nagarhole Bus

The bangalore to nagarhole distance is about 210 km to the Veeranahosahalli gate via the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway and Hunsur, and roughly 235 km to the safari range office inside the park. A bus takes 5 to 5.5 hours including a breakfast halt and a stop at Mysuru. The Kabini and Kutta approaches are different roads and different distances.

Veeranahosahalli, via Hunsur, is the usual choice for forest department bus safari groups and the most straightforward drive from Bangalore. Nanachi near Kutta suits groups combining the trip with Coorg. Kabini at Karapura is the jeep and boat safari zone on the backwaters. Book your safari first — the gate decides the route, so tell us which one and we will plan around it.

The forest department mini-bus and canter safaris are priced at a few hundred rupees per person, which is what makes this park viable for a school or college batch. Jeep safaris through Jungle Lodges and authorised lodges cost considerably more per head. Rates and slot structures are revised periodically, so confirm current figures with the forest department when booking. Safari costs are separate from the bus rental invoice.

No. Private and chartered vehicles are not permitted on the safari circuit. Safaris run in forest department mini-buses and canters, or in authorised jeeps, on fixed morning and evening slots. Your bus drops the group at the range office, waits, and picks them up afterwards. Transit through the park on the public road is separately allowed only between 6 am and 6 pm.

We do not recommend it. Five hours each way plus a safari slot makes for a very long day with no margin, and the 6 am to 6 pm road restriction leaves nothing spare. One night gives you two safari slots and two nights gives you three, which is what most groups and every serious wildlife group asks for.

November to May, with April and May giving the most reliable sightings as animals concentrate at the remaining waterholes. November to February is the most comfortable for weather. Safaris often do not operate through the peak monsoon from roughly July to October, when forest tracks become impassable, so avoid planning a group trip in that window.

A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms the booking and blocks your specific vehicle. The balance is settled at the end of the trip once the final kilometre and hour reading is taken. For large corporate bookings above Rs 50,000, or for multi-bus school bookings, a higher advance may be requested.

Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Excluded: toll and parking charges, interstate tax and permit where applicable, driver bata after 9:45 pm, and GST. Safari permits and park entry are entirely separate and are not part of the bus invoice. The final rental is based on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.

Because the vehicle is dedicated to your trip from the moment it leaves our depot until it returns. This is standard convention for chartered bus hire. On a Nagarhole trip it typically adds 20 to 40 km depending on your pickup area, and the twenty-five kilometre run to the range office counts on each safari day. Everything appears in your written quote.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance as part of the rental. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance, and this matters particularly for schools and institutions with their own student travel coverage policies. Our vehicles carry valid statutory vehicle insurance, fitness certificates and permits, and drivers hold commercial licences, but personal passenger cover is not included.
