Namdroling Monastery, Bylakuppe - The Golden Temple
Six kilometres from town stands the largest teaching centre of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism anywhere in the world, founded in 1963 by Pema Norbu Rinpoche. Inside the main prayer hall, three gilded statues rise close to sixty feet - Buddha Shakyamuni flanked by Guru Padmasambhava and Amitayus - against walls covered end to end in murals. Arrive around 5:30 PM and you can sit at the back during evening prayers while hundreds of young monks chant with long horns and cymbals. Entry is free and modest clothing is expected. For most travellers planning a Namdroling Monastery from Bangalore trip, this stop alone justifies the drive.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Bidadi
Thatte Idli Town
Half an hour out of Kengeri, Bidadi announces itself with a row of canteens serving thatte idli, the flat plate-sized idli that is a Bengaluru-Mysuru road tradition, eaten with coconut chutney and a spoon of ghee. This is the standard breakfast halt for early departures and our drivers know which places open before six. Innovative Film City sits just off the highway for families travelling with children. Ten minutes and a filter coffee later, you are back on the expressway before the sun is properly up.

Ramanagara
Silk Town and the Rocks of Sholay
Ramanagara holds the largest silk cocoon market in Asia. The granite domes rising on both sides of the highway are the ones filmed for Sholay in 1975, and climbers still come from Bangalore every weekend to work the bolted routes on Ramadevarabetta - which doubles as one of India's few vulture sanctuaries, protecting a surviving population of long-billed vultures. You will see the formations clearly from the expressway; reaching the base needs a twenty-minute detour that most Kushalnagar travellers skip.

Mandya
Sugar Bowl of Karnataka
From here to Srirangapatna the highway runs between sugarcane fields fed by the Krishna Raja Sagara canals, which is why Mandya is called the Sugar Bowl of Karnataka. Between December and March, tractor trailers stacked impossibly high with cane share the road with you. Roadside stalls press fresh cane juice with lime and ginger for twenty rupees a glass. There is no formal sightseeing, but the shift from granite outcrops to green cane tells you that you are past the halfway mark.

Mysuru
City of Palaces
The route skirts Mysuru on the ring road, but the city is worth building into a two-way itinerary. Mysore Palace is lit by close to a hundred thousand bulbs on Sunday evenings, Chamundi Hill gives you the whole city from six hundred metres up, and Devaraja Market remains the best place in Karnataka for sandalwood oil and Mysore silk. During Dasara, allow an extra hour for city traffic. Many guests break here for lunch before the final run into Kodagu.

Kushalnagar
Gateway to Coorg
You arrive over the Cauvery bridge with the bamboo island of Nisargadhama on one side and the town market on the other. Bylakuppe is six kilometres west, Harangi nine, Dubare fifteen and Madikeri thirty-five. Most guests check into a homestay here and then keep the same Bangalore to Kushalnagar taxi for local sightseeing over the following days instead of hiring a separate local vehicle.

Bus Packages for the Bangalore to Kushalnagar Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams running offsites, annual outings, dealer meets and team-building weekends in Coorg. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full duration, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate bus rental bangalore vehicle stays with the group across the Kushalnagar, Bylakuppe, Dubare and Madikeri legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Pickup can be staged across multiple tech park gates on the way out of the city so nobody has to travel to a single assembly point. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end, including multi-vehicle movements where headcount runs past fifty.
Family and Group Package
The most common weekend booking on this corridor — extended families, apartment communities and friend groups heading to a Coorg homestay or resort for two or three nights. Designed around the reality that a large family group does not move on a fixed schedule: the driver waits, the vehicle stays with you, and the itinerary can shift on the day. Luggage capacity is the deciding advantage, since a 35 seater swallows what eight cars would struggle with. Nisargadhama, the Golden Temple and Dubare fit comfortably into a single day from a Kushalnagar base, with Madikeri and Abbey Falls on the second.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Non-AC 27 to 41 seater buses, point to point, no frills, clean vehicle and a verified driver — suited to college trips, community outings, temple groups and school excursions. On the Bangalore to Kushalnagar run the ghat sections are short and the climate is mild for most of the year, so non-AC is genuinely comfortable here in a way it would not be on a longer plains route. The bus rate per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across forty passengers the saving is substantial. The budget tier is about vehicle specification, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury and Volvo Package
Volvo and Benz multi-axle coaches with wider push-back seats, better suspension, stronger air conditioning, sound insulation and premium interiors. On the expressway stretch the difference is immediately obvious, and on the Hunsur and Periyapatna leg it is the suspension that earns its keep. Suited to senior management travel, wedding guest movement to Coorg resorts, MICE groups and milestone family trips. Our volvo bus rental bangalore tier covers volvo luxury bus requirements in 41 to 50 seater configuration. For premium small-group travel on the same route, luxury urbania rental bangalore in 13 to 17 seater configuration is the alternative.
Our Bus Fleet in Bangalore
Our fleet covers 27, 35, 41, 45 and 50 seater configurations in AC and non-AC, including Volvo and Benz coaches. We run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, the core vehicle for this route
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for mid-sized groups on the same corridor
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller parties
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On the Kushalnagar route this is rarely a constraint, since the drive is comfortably done in daylight, but it is worth knowing at enquiry stage if you were planning an overnight departure.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where an itinerary crosses into another state
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. On the Kushalnagar route no interstate tax applies, since the entire journey stays within Karnataka — a genuine saving compared with Ooty or Wayanad trips of similar length.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Bus Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kushalnagar Bus
The bangalore to kushalnagar distance by road is approximately 245 kilometres via NH275 through Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya, Srirangapatna, Mysore, Hunsur and Periyapatna. Groups skipping Mysore city and using the Srirangapatna bypass cover about 230 kilometres. A 27 to 50 seater bus takes 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours 30 minutes including one breakfast halt. Leaving Bangalore between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM gets you to Kushalnagar in time for a late lunch; leaving after 9:00 AM adds close to an hour just clearing the city.
Bus fares around Rs 19,320. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific bus on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Coorg long weekends and large corporate bookings above Rs 50,000, a higher advance may be required.
No. Kushalnagar is in Kodagu district in Karnataka and the entire route from Bangalore stays within the state, so no interstate permit or interstate tax applies. This is a real cost difference compared with Ooty or Wayanad trips of similar distance, where Tamil Nadu and Kerala permits are billed at actuals. If your itinerary extends from Coorg into Kerala, we arrange that permit separately and show it as a line item in the quote.
Our fleet covers 27, 35, 41, 45 and 50 seater buses in AC and non-AC, including Volvo and Benz coaches. For groups of twelve to twenty-four a 35 seater bus rental bangalore booking is often more vehicle than needed, and a 12 to 24 seater mini bus works out cheaper. Below twelve passengers, an 8 to 18 seater tempo traveller is the economical option. We recommend the right size based on your headcount and luggage when you enquire — on a Coorg weekend, luggage volume matters more than people expect.
Most of them, yes. Namdroling Monastery at Bylakuppe, Nisargadhama, Harangi Dam, the Dubare mainland point and Madikeri all take a full 50 seater without difficulty and have proper parking. A few places do not: the approach to Chiklihole narrows in the last stretch, the ghat road above Bhagamandala toward Talacauvery is tight for 41 seater and larger coaches, and Mandalpatti is jeep-only for everyone. Nagarhole safaris run in Forest Department vehicles, so the bus drops the group at the gate. Our drivers know these limits and plan the day around them.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On the Kushalnagar route this is rarely an issue since the journey is comfortably done in daylight in under six and a half hours. For groups wanting maximum comfort on the drive, the Volvo and Benz tier with wider push-back seats and better suspension is the option we recommend.
Yes, and this is how most groups book it. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, covering the Golden Temple, Nisargadhama, Dubare, Harangi, Madikeri, Raja’s Seat and Abbey Falls, plus any onward legs. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance and night halt charges. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one number rather than charging per outing.
October to March is the most reliable window — clear weather, comfortable temperatures and the coffee harvest running from November through February. The monsoon between June and September is beautiful, with Abbey Falls and Harangi at full flow and rafting operating at Dubare, but the ghat roads above Madikeri get slippery and visibility drops. April and May are warm on the plains but still pleasant in Kodagu. Long weekends and the Dasara period fill up early, so a rental bus booking for those dates should be confirmed several weeks ahead.
Cancelling more than 7 days before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 4 and 7 days the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 48 hours and 4 days it is 25 percent, and between 24 and 48 hours it is 50 percent. Multi-day Coorg trips need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com — our bangalore bus booking and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
