Brahmotsavam and Rathotsavam
The kadiri brahmotsavam is one of the biggest temple festivals in Rayalaseema, usually held in February or March. The highlight is the chariot procession, when thousands of devotees pull the massive temple car through the streets. It is a spectacular sight, but expect heavy crowds and plan to arrive very early.
Thimmamma Marrimanu
About twenty-five kilometres from Kadiri, thimmamma marrimanu is a banyan tree whose branches and aerial roots spread over several acres. It was recognised by Guinness World Records in 1989 as one of the largest banyan trees in the world. A small shrine to Thimmamma stands beneath it, and many couples come here to pray for children. It is peaceful, shaded and a favourite with families.
Yogi Vemana Memorial, Katarupalli
Near Kadiri, the village of Katarupalli is associated with Yogi Vemana, the beloved Telugu poet whose short, witty verses are still quoted across Andhra Pradesh. His memorial draws literature lovers and devotees, especially during the annual observances.
Puttaparthi — Prasanthi Nilayam
Around fifty kilometres away, Puttaparthi is the home of Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Its peaceful campus, museum and planetarium draw visitors from around the world. The bangalore to kadiri distance is about 185 kilometres via NH44, Chikkaballapur and Bagepalli. By bus it takes 4 hours to 4 hours 30 minutes, including a breakfast halt.
Yes. Karnataka-registered buses need an Andhra Pradesh permit, which we arrange before departure and bill at actuals.
Rates start from Rs 38 per km for a 29 to 33 seater AC bus, with larger, executive, Volvo and BharatBenz coaches priced higher.
