Mahseer Waters of the Kaveri
This stretch of the Kaveri became famous worldwide as a home of the golden mahseer, a large river fish that drew anglers from many countries for decades. Angling has since been stopped to protect the river ecosystem, but the rocky pools and rapids that made the area famous are still a beautiful sight, and naturalists at the camp share the story of the mahseer and its conservation.
Bheemeshwara Temple
The small Shiva temple that gives the place its name is linked by local legend to Bhima of the Mahabharata, who is said to have visited during the Pandavas' exile. It is a simple, peaceful shrine near the river and a quiet stop for devotees.
Muthathi
A few kilometres away, Muthathi is a riverside village with an old Anjaneya temple. Local legend says a pearl from Sita's nose ring fell into the river here and Hanuman recovered it, giving the village its name from the Kannada words for pearl. The sandy banks and shallow water are popular with families, although visitors should never enter the river where currents are strong.
Galibore Nature Camp
Upstream of Bheemeshwari, Galibore is another Jungle Lodges and Resorts camp set deep in the sanctuary, and it is quieter and more remote. It suits travellers who want a longer stay focused on birding and nature walks. Road access involves a rough final stretch, so let us know in advance and we will suggest the right vehicle.
Sangama and Mekedatu
At Sangama, the Arkavathi river joins the Kaveri, and a short vehicle ride from there leads to Mekedatu, where the Kaveri squeezes through a narrow rocky gorge. The name means goat's leap, from the legend of a goat that jumped across the gap. The view of the river rushing through the rocks is dramatic, especially after the monsoon. Local transport between Sangama and Mekedatu is arranged at the site.
Chunchi Falls
On the road towards Sangama, Chunchi Falls is where the Arkavathi drops through a series of rocky steps. It is at its best from August to November after the rains. The rocks are slippery, so enjoy the view from the safe viewing points.

Special Cancellation Conditions for Bangalore Car Hire
- Weddings: Bangalore wedding hire: Minimum 7-day notice for full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of wedding date are non-refundable.
- Luxury Cars: Luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class): Minimum 5-day notice for full refund due to limited Bangalore fleet and wedding season demand.
- Peak Dates: New Year, Diwali, and Bangalore long-weekends: Minimum 48-hour notice for full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.
- Force Majeure: Bangalore bandhs / force majeure (traffic disruptions, road closures): 100% refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period.
- Modifications: Modifications (date change, vehicle upgrade, route additions) with more than 24 hours notice: Accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.
