Places to Visit in Srisailam

Mallikarjuna Swamy and Bhramaramba Devi
The reason for the journey, and a genuinely rare combination - the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga and the Bhramaramba Shakti Peetha stand within the same walled complex, so a single visit covers one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of the eighteen Maha Shakti Peethas. The temple has fortified walls with carved reliefs running around them, some dating to the Vijayanagara period and among the finest stone narrative work in Andhra Pradesh. Visit early morning. Darshan arrangements, queue types and timings are administered by the temple devasthanam and vary considerably by day and festival, so confirm close to your travel date - and note that Maha Shivaratri brings crowds on an entirely different scale.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.
Chikkaballapur
Gateway to Nandi Hills
The route leaves Bangalore north on NH 44 past the international airport, and this is the easiest exit from the city of any route we run - the highway is six-lane from the start and the airport traffic thins after Devanahalli. Our drivers aim to be past the airport before 5:30 AM on a pilgrimage departure, which on this route is entirely about clearing the forest ghat with hours in hand at the far end. Devanahalli is worth knowing about even if you do not stop: Tipu Sultan was born in the fort here in 1751, and the walls and bastions still stand a short distance off the highway. Chikkaballapur follows, with the Nandi Hills rising to the west - the range where the Arkavathi, Palar, Ponnaiyar, Papagni and Chitravathi all rise, which is unusual enough to be worth a mention as you pass.

Anantapur
Abode of Sathya Sai Baba
Bagepalli is the last Karnataka town and the Andhra border follows shortly after at Kodikonda. A short detour off the highway here reaches Lepakshi, where the sixteenth-century Veerabhadra temple holds the celebrated hanging pillar that does not quite rest on the floor, extensive surviving mural work on the ceilings, and a monolithic Nandi carved from a single boulder that is among the largest in India. It is a forty-five minute detour and one of the finest Vijayanagara sites anywhere. Penukonda comes next - the fortress city the Vijayanagara empire retreated to after the fall of Hampi, with the Gagan Mahal and hill fortifications still standing. Puttaparthi lies off the highway to the west, the ashram town of Sathya Sai Baba and a destination in its own right. Anantapur, the district headquarters, is the groundnut capital of India and the natural breakfast halt on this route, with good options on the bypass.

Kurnool
First Capital of Andhra State
A hundred and fifty kilometres of continuing excellent divided highway through dry Rayalaseema country. Gooty announces itself with its fort - a Vijayanagara and later Maratha stronghold on a steep granite outcrop directly above the road, once held by Murari Rao and taken by Hyder Ali after a long siege. It is visible from the highway and worth looking up for. Kurnool is the pivot of this journey and the point every traveller should understand. It sits at the confluence of the Tungabhadra and the Hundri, it was the first capital of Andhra State between 1953 and 1956, and it is the last substantial city before the road changes character entirely. Our drivers treat it as the checkpoint: fuel fully here, eat properly here, and confirm the time, because what follows takes as long as the previous 360 kilometres despite being half the distance.

Atmakur
Gateway to the Nallamala
Beyond Kurnool the highway ends and the road becomes undivided two-lane through Nandikotkur and on toward Atmakur. The surface is generally reasonable but the character is completely different - villages sit on the road, local traffic and agricultural vehicles use it, and the pace drops to something closer to half what it was. Travellers unfamiliar with this route consistently misjudge this stretch. The landscape changes with it. The dry open Rayalaseema plain gives way to scrub and then to the wooded foothills of the Nallamala, and the hills begin to close in. Atmakur is the last town of any size before the forest, with fuel, food and basic services, and our drivers stop here as standing practice regardless of what the gauge says - beyond it there is essentially nothing until Srisailam.

Srisailam
Kailash of the South
The final eighty kilometres run into and through the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve, the largest tiger reserve in India, on a winding ghat road through genuinely dense forest. Mobile coverage is patchy, there is no fuel, and wildlife crossings are a real possibility rather than a theoretical one. Traffic through this section is restricted by the forest department at night, commonly reported as no vehicles after around 9:00 PM, and the timings are set by the forest authorities rather than published permanently, so our drivers confirm the position before departure. It is also the best part of the drive. The road climbs through unbroken canopy with the Krishna gorge somewhere below to the north, and the arrival at Srisailam - a temple town on a plateau in the middle of a tiger reserve, with the dam and the river in a gorge below it - is unlike any other pilgrimage arrival in South India. Our driver takes you to the confirmed accommodation and assists with luggage. A 5:00 AM departure with a proper Kurnool halt puts most groups in Srisailam between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Cab Packages for Every Traveller
Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four tiers below describe how we typically structure car booking enquiries on this corridor.
Family and Pilgrimage Cab Package
The dominant booking type on this route by a wide margin - extended families travelling for darshan at Mallikarjuna and Bhramaramba, often across three generations, and frequently with a vow attached to the visit. Innova and Innova Crysta are the usual choice, and for larger family groups our tempo travellers. We plan these around two fixed points: clearing the forest ghat with hours in hand, and arriving in time for a proper darshan rather than at the end of the day. Drivers on pilgrimage bookings are selected for patience with long queue waits, which at Srisailam on a festival day can run to several hours.
Two-Day Journey Package
The structure we recommend for anyone who cannot depart before dawn, and for groups with elderly travellers. An overnight at Kurnool at 360 kilometres leaves an easy three-hour run to Srisailam the next morning, arriving fresh and in good time for darshan rather than after eight hours in a car. Mahanandi and Nandyal, on the alternative approach, are the other common halt and are worth the visit in their own right - Mahanandi has one of the nine Nandi shrines of the region and a set of spring-fed temple tanks. The additional cost is modest against what it removes from the day.
Budget Cab Package
For smaller family groups and couples where the priority is the lowest defensible figure for a two-day pilgrimage return. A sedan handles this route comfortably - the highway is excellent and the ghat, while slow, is well surfaced. Budget means a sedan and a direct itinerary; it does not mean an older vehicle or a less experienced driver, since fleet and driver standards are identical across tiers. Where the group is larger than four, a tempo traveller usually works out better per head than two sedans, and on a route this length that difference is worth calculating.
Premium and Luxury Cab Package
For senior family groups, guest hosting and travellers who want an eight to ten hour day to be comfortable. This tier covers our premium car rentals in bangalore range and the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, alongside our luxury car rental bangalore options. On this route the practical argument concerns the second half - a slower, undivided road followed by a forest ghat is noticeably easier in a vehicle with better suspension, and the elderly pilgrims who make up a large share of Srisailam traffic feel the difference at the far end.
Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment
Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Srisailam corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.

2. Driver allowance
Not Included in the Quoted Fare
3. Toll and parking charges

Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law.
Three points are specific to this route. First, darshan tickets, special entry arrangements, accommodation booked through the devasthanam, ropeway tickets at Patala Ganga, boat charges to the Akkamahadevi caves and any seva fees are all paid on site and sit entirely outside the vehicle fare - they are temple and local charges and we do not add a margin to them. Second, the Andhra Pradesh interstate permit applies and is quoted as a separate line at actual. Third, on a two-day booking with a Kurnool overnight, the driver accommodation and second-day allowance are built into the package quote in writing at the outset rather than added at settlement.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step
Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

What Our Customers Say About Our Cab Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Srisailam Cab
The bangalore to srisailam distance is around 530 km via Chikkaballapur, Anantapur, Gooty, Kurnool and Atmakur, with reported figures between 500 km and 540 km. A cab takes 8 to 10 hours, and the split matters more than the total: the 360 kilometres to Kurnool takes a little over four hours on excellent NH 44, while the remaining 180 kilometres takes three to four because the road is undivided and the final section is a forest ghat.
The final approach is restricted. Traffic through the Nallamala on the ghat into Srisailam is controlled by the forest department at night, commonly reported as no vehicles after around 9:00 PM, because this is the core of the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve. Timings are set by the forest authorities and are subject to change, so we confirm the current position before departure. The practical rule is to leave Bangalore early enough that the ghat is cleared with hours in hand rather than planning an arrival that depends on making the gate.
Because the road changes completely at Kurnool. Everything to Kurnool is excellent divided highway; beyond it the road is undivided two-lane through Nandikotkur and Atmakur with villages on the road and local traffic, and the last eighty kilometres is a winding ghat through dense forest where the pace is slow by design. It is a good road, simply not a fast one. Anyone quoting ninety minutes for the Kurnool to Srisailam section has not driven it.
A sedan starts at Rs 15,240. Innova and premium SUV rates are quoted on vehicle and itinerary, and larger vehicles on group size. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, toll estimate, the Andhra Pradesh interstate permit and GST separately, and is sent in writing within two hours. Temple charges, ropeway tickets and boat fares are paid on site and sit outside the fare.
A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your dates. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing. For Maha Shivaratri and other festival periods, book months rather than weeks ahead and expect a higher advance.
Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, interstate tax and permit charges, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. Darshan tickets, devasthanam accommodation, ropeway tickets at Patala Ganga, boat charges to the Akkamahadevi caves and seva fees are all paid on site and are not ours to bill. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. We recommend it particularly for large extended-family and temple-committee groups, where a group policy is usually inexpensive and straightforward.
No. Darshan arrangements, queue types, special entry and devasthanam accommodation are administered entirely by the temple authorities through their own channels, and no transport operator can guarantee a slot. What we do is build the day around whatever arrangement you have made - including the early arrival that a good darshan requires - and our drivers know the temple approach, the parking and the ropeway access. We would treat any operator promising guaranteed darshan as part of a vehicle booking with caution.
Yes, and all three are worthwhile. Lepakshi is a short detour off the highway near the Andhra border, with the hanging pillar, the ceiling murals and the great monolithic Nandi - forty-five minutes and among the finest Vijayanagara sites anywhere. Puttaparthi lies off the highway near Anantapur. Mahanandi sits near Nandyal on the alternative approach and works best as an overnight halt on a two-day itinerary. Tell us at the quotation stage so the kilometres and the time are in the plan.
October to March. Rayalaseema and the Nallamala from April to June are severe, regularly crossing the high thirties, and Srisailam sits where the heat settles. Maha Shivaratri, usually in February or March, is the largest festival of the year here and draws enormous crowds - extraordinary to witness, but queues run to many hours and the town is completely full, so book months ahead or avoid those weeks entirely if you want a calm darshan.
