Places to Visit in Humcha

Padmavati Devi Temple

Padmavati Devi Temple

The principal shrine of the kshetra, where Padmavati is worshipped as the presiding deity rather than as an attendant figure. The temple is modest in scale by comparison with the great Karnataka complexes and busy in a quiet, steady way - pilgrims arrive through the day, particularly from the Jain communities of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Visit in the morning or the evening session. The temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the annual rathotsava is worth planning around or avoiding depending on whether you want the crowd.

Visit in the morning or the evening session. The temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the annual rathotsava is worth planning around or avoiding depending on whether you want the crowd.

Panchakuta Basadi

Panchakuta Basadi

Dated to 1077 and the finest piece of architecture at Humcha - a five-shrined basadi in the Kalyani Chalukya idiom, with carved pillars, a well-proportioned mandapa and stone work of real quality. It sits a short distance from the main temple and receives a fraction of the visitors, which means you can generally look at it properly and in silence. Visit in the morning when the light reaches the carving. Allow half an hour. For anyone with an interest in temple architecture this is the reason to come to Humcha rather than the shrine itself.

The Jain Math and the Basadis

The Jain Math and the Basadis

The Hombuja math sits alongside the temple and is among the oldest Jain monastic institutions still functioning in India, with a Bhattaraka in residence, a manuscript collection and an educational role that goes back centuries. Several other basadis are scattered around the village, including the Guddada Basadi on the hill, and a group of Santara-period remains. Visit the math respectfully - it is a working institution rather than a monument - and walk the village, which takes an hour and shows you a Jain settlement that has been continuously occupied for twelve hundred years.

Sigandur and the Sharavathi Backwaters

Sigandur and the Sharavathi Backwaters

Around forty kilometres north-west, the Chowdeshwari temple at Sigandur sits across the Sharavathi backwaters and has traditionally been reached by ferry - a barge carrying vehicles and people across the reservoir, which is a large part of the experience. A bridge has been under construction to replace it and access arrangements have been changing, so confirm the current position before planning a day around either. The temple has a reputation among locals for the recovery of stolen property. Visit in the morning; the backwater crossing and the drive through the Sharavathi valley are worth as much as the shrine.

Kollur Mookambika and Kodachadri

Kollur Mookambika and Kodachadri

Kollur, around eighty kilometres west across the Ghats, holds the Mookambika temple - one of the most visited Devi shrines in South India and a major draw for Kerala pilgrims in particular. Above it rises Kodachadri at around 1,343 metres, a peak in the Mookambika reserve with a well-known trek and a jeep track, associated with Adi Shankara. Visit Kollur as a day from Humcha; Kodachadri needs its own day and the trek runs through forest department territory with permits and arrangements that change, so confirm before planning around it.

Ikkeri, Keladi and Jog Falls

Ikkeri, Keladi and Jog Falls

Ikkeri and Keladi, around sixty kilometres north near Sagara, were the successive capitals of the Keladi Nayakas, and the Aghoreshwara temple at Ikkeri is a substantial and unusual building - a late Vijayanagara style with elements that belong to nothing else. The Keladi museum holds the dynasty records. Jog Falls, ninety kilometres away, is the highest plunge waterfall in India at around 253 metres and is genuinely spectacular in the monsoon and immediately after, and considerably less so in the dry months when the dam holds the water back. Visit Jog between July and December.

Cab Packages for Every Traveller

Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four tiers below describe how we typically structure car booking enquiries on this corridor.

Malnad Circuit Package

The booking that makes sense of this district, and the one most Humcha enquiries should become. Humcha itself is a half day; what surrounds it is three or four more - Sigandur and the Sharavathi backwaters, Ikkeri and Keladi, Jog Falls, Kollur and Kodachadri, with Agumbe and Sringeri to the south. Three days with the vehicle retained covers a sensible selection; four covers most of it. Base at Shivamogga or Sagara rather than Humcha, which has very limited accommodation. Innova and Innova Crysta are the usual choice.

Jain Pilgrimage Package

For visitors coming specifically for Padmavati and the math. Humcha is a steady year-round destination for Jain families from Karnataka and Maharashtra, and the annual rathotsava fills the village entirely for several days - dates run to the Jain calendar and shift, so tell us early if you are travelling for it. Innova and Innova Crysta are usual, with tempo travellers for extended families. Most groups pair Humcha with Shravanabelagola on the outbound leg or with Moodabidri and Karkala on a longer Jain heritage trip.

Weekend Package

Humcha at eight hours each way is a long weekend rather than a short one, and we would generally suggest making Shivamogga or Sagara the base. A Saturday dawn start gets you to Humcha for the afternoon, Sunday covers Sigandur or Ikkeri and Keladi, and Monday returns - or extend to Jog and Kollur across four days. In the monsoon, Jog is at its most spectacular and the Malnad roads at their slowest, which is a genuine trade-off we will talk through rather than glossing over.

Premium and Luxury Cab Package

For senior family groups, guest hosting and travellers who want a long drive with Malnad road at the end to be comfortable. This tier covers our premium car rentals in bangalore range and the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, alongside our luxury car rental bangalore options. The roads west of Shivamogga wind continuously and a circuit day covers a great deal of them, which makes suspension and ride quality a functional consideration rather than a cosmetic one.

Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment

Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Humcha corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.

Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

1.   Base fare and fuel charges

2.   Driver allowance

Not Included in the Quoted Fare

3.   Toll and parking charges

4.   Interstate tax and permit charges

5.   Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra

6.   Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

7.   GST

Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law.

Three points are specific to this route. First, it stays entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises - the exclusion above remains in our standard terms because it applies on our other corridors. Second, temple charges, seva at the math, ferry or crossing charges at Sigandur and any forest department permit for Kodachadri are paid on site; the Sigandur access arrangement in particular has been changing and is not something we can guarantee. Third, Malnad circuit running is substantial and slow - Kollur is eighty kilometres away, Jog ninety, Sigandur forty, all on roads where those distances take far longer than they read - so our circuit quotes carry a stated allowance.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step

Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:

STEP1

Contact Tejas Travels

Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

STEP2

Receive Your Written Quote

Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time.

STEP3

Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance

Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year).

STEP4

Your Driver Arrives Early

Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Humcha Cab

The bangalore to humcha distance is around 390 km via Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arsikere, Tarikere and Shivamogga, then west to Hosanagara, with reported figures between 375 km and 410 km. A cab takes 8 to 9 hours with one halt. The route stays entirely within Karnataka. The last seventy kilometres west of Shivamogga is winding Malnad road and takes an hour and a half rather than an hour.

The Padmavati shrine. Padmavati is the yakshi of Parshvanatha and at Humcha she is worshipped as the presiding deity in her own right, which is unusual - most Jain temples centre on a Tirthankara. It is the principal Padmavati kshetra in South India and draws Jain pilgrims from across Karnataka and Maharashtra. Alongside it sits the Hombuja Jain Math, among the oldest continuously functioning Jain monastic institutions in India, and the Panchakuta Basadi of 1077.

Very little. It is a village and options are limited to basic pilgrim accommodation. Most groups stay at Shivamogga seventy kilometres east or at Sagara to the north, both of which have proper hotels and both of which work better as a base for the wider Malnad circuit anyway. We would generally build the itinerary that way rather than trying to base at Humcha, and during the annual rathotsava it is the only workable arrangement.

A great deal, and it is the reason to make this journey. Sigandur and the Sharavathi backwaters are forty kilometres away, Ikkeri and Keladi with the Keladi Nayaka temples sixty, Jog Falls ninety, and Kollur Mookambika eighty west across the Ghats with Kodachadri above it. Agumbe and Sringeri are to the south. Three or four days with the vehicle retained covers a sensible selection - Humcha itself is a half day.

Traditionally by ferry - a barge across the Sharavathi backwaters carrying vehicles and people, which is a large part of the experience of going. A bridge has been under construction to replace the crossing and access arrangements have been changing, so confirm the current position before planning a day around it. Our drivers check locally before setting out. Either way the drive through the Sharavathi valley is worth as much as the temple at the end of it.

A sedan starts at Rs 11,320. Three and four-day itineraries taking in Jog, Kollur and Sigandur are quoted on plan and vehicle. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, toll estimate and GST separately, and circuit quotes carry a stated allowance for the local running, which on these roads is substantial.

A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your dates. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing. For the annual rathotsava at Humcha, book well ahead - the village fills entirely and accommodation across the district tightens.

A small advance of around 20 percent of the total fare is typically collected at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and driver allocation, with the remaining balance payable at
the end of the trip either in cash directly to the driver or online via a payment link.

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent, and tiered cancellation policy. All terms communicated in writing at booking confirmation.

Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. No interstate permit arises since the route stays within Karnataka. Temple charges, seva at the math, the Sigandur crossing and any Kodachadri forest permit are paid on site. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and circuit running is part of that total.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. For groups attempting the Kodachadri trek or the Sigandur crossing, the operators and the forest department run their own arrangements and those are worth checking directly.

September to March for comfort. The southwest monsoon from June to August brings very heavy rain to this part of the Malnad and the roads west of Shivamogga slow considerably - but it is also when Jog Falls is at its most spectacular, which is a genuine trade-off on this route. If Jog is the reason for the trip, July to September; if the temples and the driving are, September to March.
