Places to Visit in

Panambur Beach

Panambur Beach

Panambur Beach is the most frequently visited and best-maintained beach in Mangalore, located close to the New Mangalore Port on the Arabian Sea shore. The beach is wide, clean and well-organised, with a lifeguard presence, a range of water sports including jet skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides and dolphin-watching trips, and enough open space for families to spend a full afternoon without feeling crowded. The International Kite Festival held here in February draws teams from across the world and is one of the more unusual events on the Karnataka coastal calendar. Travellers booking a Bangalore to Mangalore taxi for a beach-focused trip almost universally mention Panambur as the first stop they want to make on arrival, usually pairing it with a sunset view and fresh seafood at the stalls along the beach road. The proximity to the port also gives the beach a distinct working-coastal character, with ships visible in the distance and fishing boats beached along the northern edge in the early mornings.

Tannirbhavi Beach

Tannirbhavi Beach

Tannirbhavi Beach sits across the Gurpur River from the main city and is accessible either by road or by a short ferry ride from Sultan Battery, which itself is a popular heritage stop on the riverbank. Compared to Panambur, Tannirbhavi is quieter and more favoured by locals for an unhurried evening walk along the sand, with coconut palms lining the shore and an absence of the commercial activity that picks up on busier beaches during weekends and holidays. The ferry crossing adds a small adventure to the visit and gives travellers a view of the river mouth and the coast that is not possible from the road. Families on a Mangalore tour package from Bangalore who want a contrast to the water sports scene at Panambur often spend an early morning here before the day's sightseeing begins, since the beach faces west and is particularly photogenic at dusk.

St. Aloysius Chapel

St. Aloysius Chapel

St. Aloysius Chapel, built by Jesuit missionaries in 1880 and situated on Lighthouse Hill in the heart of Mangalore, is often described as the Sistine Chapel of India for the extraordinary frescoes that cover almost every surface of its interior. The paintings were executed by Italian Jesuit artist Antonio Moscheni in 1899 and depict scenes from the life of Christ alongside portraits of saints, all in a richly detailed European baroque style that is genuinely unusual in the Indian context. Art historians, architectural enthusiasts and general tourists alike are consistently struck by the scale and quality of the work, which has been carefully preserved under heritage guidelines. The chapel's campus also offers a view of the Arabian Sea from the hillside, and the surrounding St. Aloysius College buildings add to the heritage atmosphere of the visit. For travellers on a Bangalore to Mangalore cab booking who have only a single day in the city, this chapel is almost always included alongside one beach and one temple to give a balanced picture of what Mangalore offers.

Kadri Manjunath Temple

Kadri Manjunath Temple

The Kadri Manjunath Temple, believed to date from the tenth or eleventh century, is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Mangalore, situated at the base of the Kadri hills. The temple is known for housing a bronze idol of Lord Lokeshwara, considered one of the finest surviving examples of early medieval South Indian bronze craftsmanship, and a natural spring known as the Gomukha that feeds nine ponds of different sizes within the temple complex. The temple's architecture reflects a blend of Buddhist and later Hindu influences, which is unusual and historically significant: Buddhism was practised here until the tenth century before the site became the temple it is today. Pilgrims and tourists both include this as a core stop on any Mangalore visit, and the complex is open and welcoming to visitors of all backgrounds. Those arriving on a one way cab Bangalore to Mangalore for a pilgrimage circuit frequently combine this temple with Mangaladevi Temple and Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara on the same day.

Sultan Battery

Sultan Battery

Sultan Battery is a watchtower built by Tipu Sultan on the bank of the Gurpur River to monitor and control ship movements into the river mouth, and it is one of the few surviving structures in Mangalore from his period of rule. The battery is constructed from black laterite stone and is compact and fortress-like in appearance, with underground chambers that were used to store gunpowder during Tipu's time and later repurposed by the British as a naval office after the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. Today it functions as a heritage monument open to visitors, and it also serves as the departure point for the ferry to Tannirbhavi Beach, making it a practical stop that combines history with a river crossing. The views of the Gurpur River from the battery are particularly good in the late afternoon, and the surrounding waterfront has a pleasant, unhurried quality that contrasts with the busier parts of the city.

Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

The Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, located close to the city centre, is one of Mangalore's most visually striking temples, known for its tall golden gopuram, vibrant festival celebrations and the remarkable accessibility it was built around: the temple was established in the early twentieth century specifically to provide a place of worship open to all communities regardless of caste. The Navarathri celebrations held here each year are among the most elaborate in Karnataka, drawing large crowds for the decorated tableaux and cultural performances that accompany the ten-day festival. The temple's architecture and the gilded finials of its towers are a regular feature on postcards and tourism brochures for Mangalore, and it is one of the most photographed religious sites in the city. Families and group travellers on a Mangalore tour package from Bangalore typically include this temple as part of the first day's city circuit.

Pilikula Nisargadhama

Pilikula Nisargadhama

Pilikula Nisargadhama is a large nature and recreation complex about 12 kilometres from the city centre that combines a zoo, a botanical garden, a heritage park, a science centre and a lake with boating facilities within a single wooded campus. It is consistently listed as one of the top family destinations in Mangalore and draws visitors who want a full day of activity rather than a quick visit to a single attraction. The zoo section houses a healthy population of big cats, elephants, primates and reptiles, and the heritage village section includes life-sized reconstructions of traditional Tulu Nadu structures that offer a glimpse into the regional architecture and lifestyle. For travellers booking a Bangalore to Mangalore car rental for a family trip with children, Pilikula is usually scheduled as a dedicated half-day or full-day stop rather than a brief addition to the sightseeing list.

Mangaladevi Temple

Mangaladevi Temple

The Mangaladevi Temple, dedicated to the goddess after whom the city of Mangalore is named, is both a major pilgrimage site and a historically significant monument that dates back to the ninth century, when it was established during the reign of the Alupa dynasty. The temple sits close to the Bolar fishing harbour, and the approach through the fishing neighbourhood gives the visit a distinctly local feel that is different from the more tourist-oriented parts of the city. Devotees believe the presiding deity Mangaladevi is the protective goddess of the city and the origin of its name, so the temple carries a significance that goes beyond ordinary sightseeing. The structure itself is a good example of Kerala-influenced coastal Karnataka temple architecture with a distinctive roof style, and historians of the region regard it as one of the essential stops for anyone trying to understand Mangalore's early history.

Cab Packages for Your Mangalore Trip

Different travellers need different things from a Bangalore to Mangalore cab. Below are the package options we offer for this route.

Budget Cab Package

The Budget Cab Package provides a hatchback or entry-level sedan at the most affordable per-kilometre rate we quote for the Bangalore to Mangalore route, suitable for solo travellers or couples who want straightforward point-to-point transport without multiple sightseeing halts along the way. Vehicle options are listed on our cab rental page, and a one way cab Bangalore to Mangalore under this package works out as one of the most economical private vehicle options for the distance.

Family Cab Package

For families with children, elderly members or extra luggage, the Family Cab Package offers an SUV or Toyota Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross vehicle with more boot space and better suspension for the ghat sections through Sakleshpur. This is consistently one of the most popular packages for a Mangalore tour package from Bangalore during school holidays, and the same vehicles handle the return leg comfortably even after a full day of
beach and sightseeing stops.

Corporate Travel Package

Our Corporate Travels service covers teams and individual business travellers heading to Mangalore for meetings, port visits, company offsites or the business community events that the city regularly hosts, with monthly billing, dedicated account management and a fleet that ranges from sedans to Volvo coaches depending on the party size.

Luxury Package

The Luxury Package includes vehicles such as the Toyota Innova Crysta or the Force Urbania, which make the seven to eight hour drive to Mangalore considerably more comfortable with better seating, more legroom and superior air conditioning through the hot stretches before the ghats. This package is popular with
corporate executives, honeymooners and small groups who want the quality of a private coach without the cost of a full bus.

Group and Tempo Traveller Package

Groups of eight or more travelling together to Mangalore are better served by a Tempo Traveller or Mini Bus, both of which work out significantly cheaper per head than multiple cabs and keep the group together through every stop from Sakleshpur viewpoints to the beaches of Panambur and Tannirbhavi.

Pilgrimage Package

Mangalore and its surroundings, including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple and the Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, form one of the most important pilgrimage circuits in coastal Karnataka. Our pilgrimage-focused cab package is built around early morning temple timings, adequate waiting time at each shrine and comfortable return travel, and is one of our more specialised offerings for this route through our outstation vehicle booking service.

Wedding Package

For Mangalorean families based in Bangalore organising weddings or for couples choosing Mangalore's coastal venues as a destination wedding location, our Wedding Cab and Bus service provides decorated cars for the couple alongside buses for guest transport, handling the coordination in advance so the travel side of the event runs without disruption.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step

Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:

STEP1

Contact Tejas Travels

Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

STEP2

Receive Your Written Quote

Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time.

STEP3

Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance

Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year).

STEP4

Your Driver Arrives Early

Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Cab

The Bangalore to Mangalore distance by road is approximately 350 to 370 kilometres, depending on the exact route and the drop location within Mangalore. The most commonly used route follows NH 75 via Nelamangala, Hassan and Sakleshpur, which is the
shortest, fastest and most scenic option for the journey.

The drive typically takes between seven and eight hours including one or two short breaks, with the actual driving time closer to six and a half hours in light traffic. Departing before six in the morning is generally recommended to clear Bangalore before peak traffic and to reach Mangalore by early to mid-afternoon.

The Bangalore to Mangalore taxi fare for a one-way sedan booking generally starts from around Rs. 5,500 to Rs. 6,500, varying by vehicle type, toll charges along the route, driver allowance and whether it is a one-way or round-trip booking. SUVs and Innova-class vehicles are priced higher, while Volvo buses or tempo travellers are typically quoted on a per-vehicle basis for groups.

Yes, a one way cab Bangalore to Mangalore is readily available and is priced for the single journey without requiring payment for the driver's return, which makes it one of the more cost-effective private transport options for travellers who have a different plan for the return journey, whether by train, flight or a separate cab booking.

The NH 75 route via Hassan and Sakleshpur is considered the best route for a cab from Bangalore to Mangalore in terms of road quality, scenery and travel time. The road is well-maintained for most of the distance, the ghat section at Sakleshpur and Shiradi is spectacular, and the route passes through or near several towns worth a short stop, including Belur and Halebidu for Hoysala temple heritage.

Unlike the Mysore-Wayanad route which passes through Bandipur reserve with a night driving ban, the main Bangalore to Mangalore route via NH 75 does not have the same kind of blanket restriction. However, the Shiradi Ghat section is considered challenging at night due to sharp bends, limited visibility and occasional wildlife crossings, so most experienced drivers and passengers prefer to complete this stretch during daylight hours. Our team plans pickup times to ensure the ghat section is covered before dusk wherever possible.

A standard sedan can handle two to three medium suitcases in the boot, while an SUV or Innova can comfortably manage four to five bags alongside cabin luggage. For trips with multiple large pieces of luggage, a tempo traveller is the more practical choice and also gives considerably more cabin space for the seven to eight hour journey.

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent, and tiered cancellation policy. All terms communicated in writing at booking confirmation.
