Hoysaleswara and Shantaleswara Temples
The Hoysaleswara Temple and the adjacent Shantaleswara Temple are the centrepiece of Halebidu and together constitute the most ambitious and elaborate surviving architectural statement of the Hoysala dynasty. Construction on the Hoysaleswara Temple began in 1121 CE and was undertaken over decades by teams of sculptors working in the soft local chloritic schist soapstone, which allows for the extraordinary level of carving detail that covers every horizontal surface of the exterior walls in uninterrupted narrative and decorative bands. The Shantaleswara Temple, named for the queen Shantala, one of the consorts of King Vishnuvardhana and a renowned dancer, stands immediately adjacent and is its near-mirror image, creating a twin complex of unusual grandeur. Both temples were left without their tower superstructures when the Malik Kafur invasions halted construction, and this unfinished quality means that the attention of any visitor falls almost entirely on the sculptural programme rather than being divided between architecture and sculpture as at other temple sites. The Archaeological Survey of India maintains the complex and an on-site museum houses sculptures recovered from the site. Entry to the complex is free for Indian citizens. All travellers on a Bangalore to Halebidu taxi booking plan the bulk of their visit around this complex.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Nelamangala
Western city exit
The Bangalore to Halebidu cab journey begins on NH 75 heading west from the city, covering approximately 30 kilometres to Nelamangala before the highway opens into the more comfortable driving of the Karnataka plateau. Nelamangala is the first meaningful junction town on the western edge of Bangalore's extended urban area, where the NH 75 toward Hassan, Mangalore and the coast separates from other routes. It is the practical first pause point for fuel and a quick breakfast at one of the well-established highway restaurants that line the approach to the town. Departure from Bangalore before six-thirty on a weekday or six on a weekend is recommended to clear the city and reach Nelamangala before the outbound traffic peaks. The road from Bangalore to Nelamangala is generally good and the drive of around 40 to 50 minutes in moderate traffic sets up the longer and more comfortable highway run that follows. The short highlight: Nelamangala - western city exit; NH 75 junction for Hassan; fuel and first breakfast stop.

Channarayapatna
Gateway to Hoysala district
From Nelamangala, NH 75 runs southwest for approximately 125 kilometres through Kunigal and on to Channarayapatna. This is the longest and most straightforward stretch of the drive, covering the agricultural landscape between Bangalore's plateau and the greener countryside of the Hassan district on a well-maintained four-lane national highway. Kunigal, at around the 75-kilometre mark, is a practical quick stop for fuel or a short break. Channarayapatna, also known as CRP, is the junction town where travellers heading to Shravanabelagola turn off NH 75 onto a side road that leads 10 kilometres to the pilgrimage site. For travellers planning the full Hoysala circuit, this is the standard first detour: spending approximately two hours at Shravanabelagola before continuing toward Hassan. The pilgrimage to the Gomateshwara statue, which involves climbing and descending 614 rock-cut steps, works best in the cooler morning hours before ten, making the Channarayapatna junction the most logical point to break from the highway and visit the Jain monument. The short highlight: Kunigal - mid-route fuel stop; Channarayapatna - Shravanabelagola junction 10 km east; gateway to Hoysala district.

Hassan
District headquarters
From Channarayapatna, NH 75 continues for approximately 30 kilometres to Hassan, bringing the total from Bangalore to around 185 kilometres. Hassan is the district headquarters and the most practical base for a two-day exploration of the Hoysala circuit, with a good range of hotels, restaurants and urban facilities that Halebidu and Belur themselves do not offer. The Hasanamba Temple in Hassan town, which opens for darshan only one week each year during the Deepavali season, is a significant pilgrimage stop for travellers whose Bangalore to Halebidu cab trip coincides with that window. From Hassan, the road to Halebidu continues for a further 32 kilometres through pleasant agricultural countryside, and the road to Belur runs 35 kilometres in the opposite direction, making Hassan the practical pivot point for a circuit of both temple towns. The Shettihalli Rosary Church is 13 kilometres from Hassan and is included in the itinerary of most travellers staying overnight. The short highlight: Hassan - district headquarters and overnight base; Hasanamba Temple and Shettihalli Church access point.

Halebidu
Arrival in town
The final 32 kilometres from Hassan to Halebidu is a straightforward drive through the agricultural countryside of the Hassan district on a road that is well-surfaced for most of its length and passes through small villages and the occasional temple ruin before the main Halebidu complex comes into view. The approach to Halebidu is unassuming for a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the town is small and the temples are set within a low-walled compound that does not dominate the landscape the way a tall gopuram might. The horizontal character of the complex, spread across a single platform rather than towering upward, only becomes fully apparent once the visitor is inside the compound and stands before the exterior walls with their extraordinary carved surface. Most travellers on a Bangalore to Halebidu taxi departing the city by six or seven in the morning arrive at Halebidu by ten to eleven, either directly or after the Shravanabelagola stop, giving a full morning for the Hoysaleswara complex before the afternoon drive to Belur and Yagachi Dam. The short highlight: Final 32-km approach through Hassan district farmland; Hoysaleswara Temple gopura visible on arrival in town.

Budget Cab Package
The Budget Cab Package offers a hatchback or entry-level sedan at the most affordable per-kilometre rate for
the Bangalore to Halebidu route. At approximately 210 to 220 kilometres one-way, this is one of the shortest and most cost-effective outstation routes from Bangalore, and the Bangalore to Halebidu taxi fare under this
package is accessible even for students, independent travellers and small groups on a fixed budget. Options can be reviewed on our cab rental page.
Heritage Day Trip Package
The Heritage Day Trip Package is designed for travellers who want to cover the complete Hoysala circuit in a
single day: Shravanabelagola on the way in, the Hoysaleswara and Shantaleswara temples at Halebidu, the Chennakeshava Temple at Belur and the Yagachi Dam in the afternoon. This requires an early departure from Bangalore by five-thirty or six and returns by nine to ten in the evening. This is one of our most popular packages for a Halebidu tour package from Bangalore and works best in a sedan or SUV.

Corporate and Educational Group Package
Our Corporate Travels service covers company teams visiting Halebidu and Belur for corporate cultural offsites and heritage programmes. For school and college groups, our larger vehicle options through the outstation vehicle booking service accommodate the typical group size for educational heritage visits to the UNESCO World Heritage temples.

Group and Tempo Traveller Package

pilgrimage are best served by a Tempo Traveller or Mini Bus, which are considerably cheaper per head than
multiple sedans for the 210-kilometre journey.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step
Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

What Our Customers Say About Our Cab Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Halebidu Cab
The Bangalore to Halebidu distance by road is approximately 210 to 220 kilometres via NH 75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna and Hassan, which is the most commonly
used and best-maintained route for the journey.
The drive typically takes between four and five hours including one short break, with actual driving time closer to three and a half hours in light traffic. Departing by six to seven in the morning usually ensures a relaxed arrival at Halebidu by ten to eleven, providing a full morning for the Hoysaleswara temple complex before the afternoon drive to Belur.
The Bangalore to Halebidu taxi fare for a one-way sedan booking starts from approximately Rs. 6,500 varying by vehicle type, toll charges and whether the booking is one-way or round trip. This is one of the most affordable outstation cab routes from Bangalore given the relatively short distance. Current rates can be checked on our cab rental page.
Yes, Halebidu and Belur are entirely manageable on a single day trip from Bangalore if the departure is by five-thirty or six in the morning. The temples are 17 kilometres apart and a well-planned day allows two to three hours at each complex, lunch at one of the dhabas near the temples, and the Yagachi Dam in the afternoon before returning to Bangalore by eight to nine in the evening. Adding Shravanabelagola on the same day is possible but tight and is better suited to a two-day itinerary.
Yes, Shravanabelagola is directly on the NH 75 route between Bangalore and Halebidu, approximately 150 kilometres from Bangalore and 75 kilometres from Halebidu. The turn-off at Channarayapatna leads 10 kilometres to Shravanabelagola. Most travellers on a Hoysala temples trip from Bangalore stop here first in the morning, spend about two hours including the climb to the statue, and then continue toward Hassan and Halebidu.
If arriving from Bangalore via NH 75, Halebidu is reached first as it sits closer to Hassan on the
northern side of the road from Hassan town. The recommended sequence for most travellers is
to visit Halebidu in the morning when the light falls on the carved friezes of the north-facing
Hoysaleswara Temple to best effect, have lunch near the temples or in Hassan, and then drive the 17 kilometres to Belur for the afternoon visit. This ordering also means the return drive to
Bangalore begins from Belur rather than requiring a backtrack to Halebidu.
October to February is the most comfortable time to visit Halebidu, with pleasant temperatures that make extended walking through the temple complex enjoyable. The Hoysala Mahotsava
festival held in March or April at both Halebidu and Belur is also an excellent time to visit if
cultural performances alongside the heritage architecture are of interest. The temples are open year-round and the carved exterior is rewarding in any season, though the morning light from around eight to eleven is generally considered the best time for photography of the north-facing main temple facade.
A small advance of around 10 percent of the total fare is typically collected at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and driver allocation, with the remaining balance payable at
the end of the trip either in cash directly to the driver or online via a payment link.
Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent, and tiered cancellation policy. All terms communicated in writing at booking confirmation.
