Gommateshwara Bahubali and Vindhyagiri Hill
The monolithic statue of Bahubali, commissioned around 981 CE by Chavundaraya, a minister and commander of the Western Ganga dynasty, stands roughly fifty-seven feet tall and is carved from a single block of granite. Bahubali is depicted in kayotsarga, the standing meditation posture, with creepers carved climbing his legs and arms to signify how long he stood unmoving. The face is the thing people remember - it carries an expression of complete detachment that photographs consistently fail to capture. Around the summit enclosure stand further Tirthankara images added under the Hoysalas. Entry is free, photography is generally permitted, and the view back over the town, the Kalyani and Chandragiri opposite is the reward for the climb.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Nelamangala
Highway Junction of Bangalore
The route leaves Bangalore northwest along the Tumkur road before branching onto NH 75. Our drivers reach the pickup point fifteen minutes early, and on this route the departure discipline matters for an unusual reason - it is not about traffic so much as about reaching the hill before the sun does. Every fifteen minutes lost in Bangalore is fifteen minutes of the climb spent in hotter conditions. Passengers boarding from Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagar, Hebbal or Peenya are directly on this line and get away quickly; those from Electronic City or Whitefield should allow an extra forty-five minutes to cross the city, and for them we usually suggest a 5:00 AM pickup. Nelamangala is where Mysore, Mangalore, Hassan and Tumkur traffic all diverges, and it builds fast on Friday and Saturday mornings. Past the junction the highway opens up properly and the pace settles for the rest of the drive.

Kunigal
Horse Breeding Town of Karnataka
Forty kilometres of good four-lane highway through Solur into Kunigal, with the outskirts giving way to coconut plantations, ragi fields and the low granite outcrops of the southern Deccan. On an early departure this stretch passes in the first light, and it is quick and undemanding driving. Kunigal is known for the Kunigal Stud Farm, one of the oldest horse breeding establishments in India, founded in the eighteenth century and associated with Tipu Sultan before passing through colonial and later private ownership. It is not open as a casual visitor attraction, but it is the reason the town is on the map and it remains a working thoroughbred operation. Our drivers do not usually halt here, since the better breakfast cluster is twenty-five minutes ahead at Yediyur and the priority on this route is banking time early.

Yediyur
Siddhalingeshwara Temple Town
Thirty kilometres of continuing easy highway, and Yediyur arrives at close to the right time for breakfast on a dawn departure. This is the standard first halt on this corridor and the one we recommend using properly. The Siddhalingeshwara Temple sits beside Yediyur Lake and draws a steady stream of travellers on this highway - the shrine is associated with the sixteenth-century Veerashaiva saint Tontada Siddhalingeshwara, and the lakeside setting makes it a pleasant twenty-minute break even for travellers with no intention of going inside. More practically, there is a reliable cluster of highway restaurants here that serve quickly, and it is a dependable fuel and restroom point. Facilities at Shravanabelagola itself are limited, so this is the right place to eat before the climb rather than after it.

Hirisave and Bellur Cross
Coconut and Areca Belt of Hassan District
Thirty-odd kilometres of good highway as the route crosses into Hassan district and the landscape shifts into proper plantation country - coconut, areca and paddy, greener and more enclosed than the open country behind. Hirisave is a small highway town rather than a destination, and it marks the point where the drive starts feeling like the Malnad approaches rather than the Deccan. Bellur Cross is the junction that matters. This is where the route leaves NH 75 for the final run to Shravanabelagola, and it is easy to miss if you are following signage rather than a driver who knows it. Note that Bellur Cross has no relationship to Belur, the Hoysala temple town seventy kilometres further on - the similarity of names causes genuine confusion, and travellers occasionally find they have driven past their turn while looking for a temple that is an hour away.

Shravanabelagola
Jain Pilgrimage Capital of South India
Twelve kilometres of district road running through farmland, and the arrival is the memorable part. Vindhyagiri hill appears well before the town does - a bare granite dome rising out of flat plantation country, with the statue itself visible from a considerable distance on a clear morning. Travellers who have only seen photographs are usually surprised by how isolated and abrupt the hill is. The town at the foot of it is small, arranged around the Kalyani tank between the two hills, and it is a working pilgrimage town rather than a tourist one - a single main street of shops selling offerings, a few simple eateries, and the Bhattaraka Math beside the tank. Our driver parks at the base of Vindhyagiri and waits for the duration, since there is nowhere else to be and the climb takes as long as it takes. For a 5:30 AM departure with a proper Yediyur breakfast, most travellers reach the base of the steps between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM, which is close to ideal.

Cab Packages for Every Traveller
Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four tiers below describe how we typically structure car booking enquiries on this corridor.
Family and Pilgrimage Cab Package
The dominant booking type on this route - families travelling for darshan, often across three generations, and Jain pilgrim groups for whom Shravanabelagola is a lifetime visit. Innova and Innova Crysta are the usual choice. The planning conversation we have with every family booking is about the climb, because six hundred and fifty barefoot steps on open granite does not suit everyone, and it is better settled before you leave than at the base of the hill. Where a group has mixed ability we plan a split day: some climb Vindhyagiri, others take Chandragiri and the ground-level basadis, and everyone meets at the Kalyani. Drivers on family bookings are selected for patience with long waits at the base.
Budget Cab Package
For couples, small families and day-trippers where the priority is the lowest defensible figure for a single-day return. At 145 km each way this is one of the most affordable outstation runs we operate, and a sedan on a straight Shravanabelagola day trip is genuinely inexpensive compared with almost any other heritage destination from Bangalore. Budget here means a sedan and a direct itinerary; it does not mean an older vehicle or a less experienced driver, since fleet and driver standards are identical across tiers. This tier suits travellers doing Shravanabelagola alone rather than the full Belur and Halebidu circuit.
Corporate Cab Package
For company outings, cultural days and client hosting where a heritage circuit makes a better impression than another resort. Sedans and Innova Crysta are the standard vehicles. Documentation is handled up front, with GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice at quotation stage for purchase-order approval, monthly consolidated billing and thirty-day credit terms for signed accounts. For a corporate group we would generally recommend the full Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebidu day rather than the short trip, since it fills the day properly and the drive is easy enough that nobody arrives tired. See our corporate travels bangalore desk for ongoing requirements.
Premium and Luxury Cab Package
For senior family groups, guest hosting and travellers who want the day to be comfortable. This tier covers our premium car rentals in bangalore range and the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, alongside our luxury car rental bangalore options. On this route the value is specific and practical: on a full heritage circuit the vehicle is the air-conditioned space your group returns to after each site, several times across a thirteen-hour day, and after six hundred and fifty steps in the sun that stops being a luxury and becomes the thing that makes the rest of the day possible.
Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment
Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Shravanabelagola corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.
Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
1. Base fare and fuel charges
2. Driver allowance
Not Included in the Quoted Fare
3. Toll and parking charges
4. Interstate tax and permit charges
5. Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra
6. Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
7. GST
Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law.
Two points are specific to this route. First, doli or palanquin charges at the base of Vindhyagiri, and any donations or special darshan arrangements at the site, are paid locally and sit entirely outside the vehicle fare - we will tell you the expected order of cost, but they are not ours to bill and we do not add a margin to them. Second, Shravanabelagola is within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises; the exclusion above stays in our standard terms because it applies to our other corridors. Note also that a full Belur and Halebidu circuit routinely returns to Bangalore after 9:45 PM, which brings the driver bata clause into play, and we state that in the written quote at the outset rather than adding it at settlement.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step
Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

What Our Customers Say About Our Cab Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Shravanabelagola Cab
The bangalore to shravanabelagola distance is 145 km via NH 75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur and Hirisave, turning off at Bellur Cross for the final twelve kilometres. A cab covers it in 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes with one halt. It is comfortable four-lane highway with no ghat section, no interstate border and no notorious bottleneck, which makes it one of the most reliably timed outstation routes we operate.
Vindhyagiri rises about 470 feet and the ascent is by rock-cut steps, with published counts varying between roughly 600 and 700 depending on which flight is counted - around 650 is the figure most commonly quoted. Footwear is removed at the base, so the whole climb is barefoot on stone. Handrails run along much of it and there are gateways to pause at, but there is essentially no shade until the top. A reasonably fit adult takes thirty to forty-five minutes up. Budget two hours for the hill including time at the summit.
Doli or palanquin carriers operate at the base and will carry a passenger up for a negotiated fee, commonly reported in the range of several hundred rupees - but availability is inconsistent and thins in the low season, so do not build the trip around the assumption that one will be waiting. The better plan for a mixed-ability group is to split: some climb Vindhyagiri, others take Chandragiri, which is a much gentler two hundred steps, or stay at ground level for Bhandari Basadi, Akkana Basadi and the Kalyani. All of those are worth visiting in their own right.
Between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, and on this route the reason is the climb rather than the traffic. Arriving by 9:00 AM means going up before the granite heats and the sun is overhead. Between noon and 4:00 PM a barefoot climb on sun-heated rock is genuinely unpleasant and, in April and May, unwise. Passengers boarding in Electronic City or Whitefield should allow an extra forty-five minutes to cross the city, so we usually suggest a 5:00 AM pickup for them.
A sedan starts at Rs 4,600, Innova and premium SUV rates are quoted on vehicle and itinerary. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, toll estimate and GST separately, and is sent in writing within two hours of your enquiry. Doli charges and any donations at the site are paid locally and sit outside the fare.
A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your date. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing.
Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, interstate tax and permit charges, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. Doli charges and site donations are paid locally. Shravanabelagola is within Karnataka so no interstate permit arises on this route. Note that a full Belur and Halebidu circuit routinely returns after 9:45 PM, which brings the driver bata clause into play, and we state that in the quote up front.
A small advance of around 20 percent of the total fare is typically collected at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and driver allocation, with the remaining balance payable at
the end of the trip either in cash directly to the driver or online via a payment link.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. For school and college heritage excursions a group travel policy is usually inexpensive and is often required by the institution.
Yes, with a 5:30 AM departure and a group that can handle a twelve to thirteen hour day. The efficient order from Bangalore is Shravanabelagola first, since it sits before Hassan, then Belur, then Halebidu. Shravanabelagola alone needs two hours including the climb, Belur an hour to ninety minutes and Halebidu an hour, plus travel between them. If the group includes elderly members we honestly recommend dropping one site rather than rushing all three, or splitting it across an overnight in Hassan.
It is the grand anointing ceremony held once every twelve years, in which the Bahubali statue is bathed from a scaffold with milk, curd, ghee, saffron, sandalwood, turmeric, vermilion and flowers. The ceremony is recorded as having begun in 981 CE, and it draws enormous crowds from across India and abroad. The most recent was held in February 2018, which places the next in the 2030 cycle, though dates are set and announced by the Jain math and the state administration. If you plan to attend, accommodation and vehicles both need booking many months ahead.
