Places to Visit in Virajpet

Virajpet Town and St Anne Church
The town was founded in 1792 by Vira Rajendra of the Haleri line, who commemorated a treaty here and built a church for the Christians of his territory in the same year - St Anne, one of the oldest in this part of Karnataka, with a bell said to have come from a European foundry. The clock tower in the centre is the other landmark. Virajpet is a coffee and honey trading town rather than a sightseeing one; visit for an hour, buy honey from the traders, and treat it as your base rather than your destination.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Maddur
Home of the Maddur Vada
The Mysore highway is the best road out of Bangalore and the exit is straightforward once past Kengeri. Our drivers aim to be clear of the city before 7:30 AM; this route is more forgiving on timing than most of ours, but weekend traffic toward Mysore builds properly by mid-morning. Ramanagara is the silk cocoon capital of Asia, with the granite hills alongside familiar from a great deal of film. Channapatna follows, where lacquered wooden toys have been turned since Tipu Sultan brought artisans from Persia - the craft carries a GI tag and the shops are on the highway. Maddur is where the vada was invented and where most travellers stop for it.

Mysore
City of Palaces
Sugarcane country through Mandya, where the KRS dam and the Cauvery canals made the district what it is. Srirangapatna sits on an island in the river a little further on and holds a great deal - the Ranganathaswamy temple, the Daria Daulat Bagh with its painted walls, the Gumbaz, and the spot where Tipu fell in 1799. An hour there is well spent if the day allows. Mysore is the natural breakfast halt and needs no introduction. On a Coorg run most groups pass through, though for anyone with a spare half day the palace and Chamundi Hills are right there. Beyond Mysore the road turns west and the country begins to change.

Gonikoppal
Coffee Market Town of South Kodagu
Seventy-five kilometres west and south-west on good two-lane road, with the country turning from the dry Mysore plain into something greener as the Kodagu foothills approach. Hunsur is a tobacco and trading town and the turn for the Nagarhole gates, which sit around forty kilometres south-west of it. The road crosses into Kodagu and the change is immediate - coffee under shade trees, pepper vines on the trunks, and the light going green. Gonikoppal is a working coffee market town and the commercial centre of the southern half of the district; between here and Virajpet the estates are continuous.

Virajpet
Town of Vira Rajendra
Thirty kilometres of estate road, gently climbing, with coffee on both sides and the Brahmagiri range visible to the south on a clear day. This is some of the more attractive short driving in Karnataka and it takes about forty minutes. Virajpet is compact - a clock tower, St Anne church from 1792, coffee and honey traders, and a market. It is a town people use rather than visit, which is exactly its value: the homestays around it are on working estates rather than in resort compounds, and Igguthappa, Nalknad, Tadiandamol and Iruppu are all closer from here than from Madikeri. Many estate properties sit on unlit private lanes, so send us the name at booking and we will confirm the approach. A 7:00 AM departure puts most travellers in by around 1:00 PM.

Cab Packages for Every Traveller
Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four tiers below describe how we typically structure car booking enquiries on this corridor.
South Coorg Circuit Package
The booking this page is built for. Two nights at Virajpet covers Igguthappa and Nalknad on one day and Iruppu with the Brahmagiri foothills on another; three adds Nagarhole or Bylakuppe, or a Madikeri and Talacauvery day if you want the other half of the district. The vehicle stays with your group throughout - the estates and the sites are spread across narrow roads with no useful local transport. Innova and Innova Crysta are the usual choice, and for narrow estate lanes we will say so at booking rather than sending something that cannot reach the door.
Family and Estate Stay Package
For families booking a homestay on a working coffee estate, which is what South Coorg does better than anywhere. These are quiet trips with the driving kept short - a temple morning, a falls afternoon, and a good deal of sitting on a verandah, which is the point. Innova and Innova Crysta are usual. Estate approach roads are frequently unlit private lanes and occasionally rough after rain, so send us the property name and we will confirm the approach rather than discovering it at nine at night with a car full of children.
Trek and Wildlife Package
A different shape of booking. Tadiandamol starts from near Nalknad Palace and is a full day - around seven kilometres each way through shola and grassland, moderately demanding rather than severe - and we drop and collect rather than waiting at the trailhead. Nagarhole safaris run morning and afternoon from the Nagarhole and Kutta gates, are booked with the forest department, and the popular slots go early. Both need the day planned around them rather than around the driving, and we quote accordingly.
Premium and Luxury Cab Package
For senior family groups, guest hosting and travellers who want the drive to be comfortable. This tier covers our premium car rentals in bangalore range and the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, alongside our luxury car rental bangalore options. At five and a half hours on good roads this is one of our easier long routes, so the argument here is the estate lanes and the district running rather than the highway - ground clearance is genuinely useful on the approach to several properties.
Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment
Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Virajpet corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.
Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
1. Base fare and fuel charges
2. Driver allowance
Not Included in the Quoted Fare
3. Toll and parking charges
4. Interstate tax and permit charges
5. Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra
6. Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
7. GST
Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law.
Three points are specific to this route. First, it stays entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises - the exclusion above remains in our standard terms because it applies on our other corridors, and note that a Wayanad extension south through Kutta would bring a Kerala permit into play. Second, Nagarhole safari bookings, Brahmagiri and Tadiandamol forest permits and temple charges are paid to the respective authorities; we arrange transport and timing only. Third, district running here is more than the map suggests - Kakkabe is twenty-five kilometres, Iruppu fifty, Nagarhole fifty, Bylakuppe forty, all on narrow roads - so our circuit quotes carry a stated allowance.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step
Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

What Our Customers Say About Our Cab Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Virajpet Cab
The bangalore to virajpet distance is around 250 km via Mysore, Hunsur and Gonikoppal, with reported figures between 240 km and 275 km depending on the pickup point and routing. A cab takes 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours 30 minutes with one halt. The route stays entirely within Karnataka and there is no ghat of consequence, which makes it one of our easier long routes.
It depends what you want to see. Madikeri has Raja Seat, Abbey Falls, the fort, Talacauvery and most of the district hotels, and in season it is very busy. Virajpet is closer to Igguthappa, Nalknad, Tadiandamol, Chelavara, Iruppu, Nagarhole and Bylakuppe - most of South Coorg, and quieter. They are thirty-five kilometres apart so neither excludes the other. Tell us what is on your list and we will place the base rather than defaulting to the busier half.
More than the town suggests. Padi Igguthappa at Kakkabe is the principal Kodava temple; Nalknad Palace beyond it is a Haleri hunting seat with the Tadiandamol trailhead behind; Chelavara Falls is nearby; Iruppu Falls and the Brahmagiri range are fifty kilometres south; Nagarhole is fifty east; and Bylakuppe with the Namdroling monastery is forty north. Two nights covers a sensible selection and three covers most of it.
Moderate rather than severe. It is around seven kilometres each way from near Nalknad Palace to the summit at about 1,748 metres, through shola forest and open grassland, and a reasonably fit walker manages it in a day. It is the highest peak in Kodagu and the views from the ridge are the reward. Permits and access are regulated locally and arrangements change, so confirm before planning around it. We drop and collect rather than waiting at the trailhead.
Yes - the Nagarhole and Kutta gates are around fifty kilometres east and it is a comfortable morning or afternoon run. Safaris are operated by the forest department in fixed sessions with capped numbers, booked with them directly, and the popular slots go early in season. March to May gives the best sightings as animals concentrate around water. Book the safari before fixing the rest of the itinerary and we will build the day around the slot you secure.
A sedan starts at Rs 7,400. Innova and premium SUV rates are quoted on vehicle and itinerary, and larger vehicles on group size. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, toll estimate and GST separately, and circuit quotes carry a stated allowance for district running.
A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your dates. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing. For long weekends and the December to January peak, book well ahead - Coorg fills quickly on those dates.
Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. No interstate permit arises unless you extend south into Wayanad, which brings a Kerala permit into play. Nagarhole safari charges, forest permits for Tadiandamol and Brahmagiri, and temple charges are paid to the respective authorities. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. For the Tadiandamol and Brahmagiri treks, the local and forest department arrangements are separate again and worth checking directly.
October to May, with October to February the most pleasant - clear, cool and green after the rains. March to May is warmer but gives the best Nagarhole sightings. The southwest monsoon from June to September is very heavy here and estate roads can be difficult, though Coorg in the rain has a genuine following and the falls are at their best. Book well ahead for long weekends whenever you travel.
