Places to Visit in Sakleshpur

Manjarabad Fort

Manjarabad Fort

Built by Tipu Sultan in 1792 in a distinctive eight pointed star shape, Manjarabad Fort sits on a hilltop about nine kilometres from Sakleshpur town and is the single most photographed landmark on this route. The unusual geometry was designed for artillery defence, and the climb up a short flight of steps opens onto sweeping views of coffee plantations, paddy fields, and the misty ridgelines of the Western Ghats on a clear morning. On monsoon days the fort disappears into cloud cover, which locals consider the best time to visit despite the reduced visibility, since the fort seems to float above a sea of fog. Entry is inexpensive and the visit itself takes under an hour, making it an easy first stop after checking into a homestay.

Bisle Ghat Viewpoint

Bisle Ghat Viewpoint

About 25 kilometres from Sakleshpur, the Bisle Ghat viewpoint sits inside a reserve forest at the meeting point of the Hassan, Kodagu, and Dakshina Kannada districts, and the watchtower here delivers one of the most dramatic panoramas in this part of the Ghats, layer upon layer of forested hills stretching toward the coast. The drive down to Bisle passes through dense shola forest and coffee estates, and the area is known among birdwatchers for hornbills and other Western Ghats endemics. Early morning visits before the mist burns off are the most rewarding, and the spot works well as a half day excursion combined with a stop at a nearby waterfall on the way back.

Shettihalli Rosary Church

Shettihalli Rosary Church

Also known as the floating or submerged church, the Shettihalli Rosary Church is a roofless 19th century structure that sits inside the backwaters of the Hemavathi reservoir. Built by French missionaries and abandoned when the dam submerged the surrounding village, the church re-emerges from the water every summer once the reservoir level drops, and stands partly flooded for the rest of the year, giving it an eerie, almost cinematic quality that has made it one of the most shared travel photographs from this route. The best time to see it fully exposed is between March and June, while the monsoon and post-monsoon months show only the upper arches above the waterline.

Magajahalli and Kadumane Waterfalls

Magajahalli and Kadumane Waterfalls

Sakleshpur's coffee estate belt hides several seasonal waterfalls, and Magajahalli and Kadumane are the two most visited, both tucked inside working coffee plantations a short drive from town. Magajahalli cascades over a series of rock steps and is easiest to reach right after the monsoon when the flow is strongest, while Kadumane sits deeper inside estate land and usually needs a local guide or estate permission to access safely. Neither fall is heavily commercialised, so visitors get a quieter, more natural experience than at larger tourist waterfalls elsewhere in Karnataka, though footwear with good grip is essential since the rocks stay slippery through most of the year.

Hemavathi Dam and Backwaters

Hemavathi Dam and Backwaters

The Hemavathi dam and its backwaters are what create the flooded look around Shettihalli church, and the reservoir itself is worth a stop for the wide, calm water framed by low hills. Boating is occasionally available depending on the season and local operators, and the drive along the dam road offers several spots to pull over for photographs of the sunset reflecting off the water. The reservoir also irrigates much of the farmland between Hassan and Sakleshpur, so the surrounding villages have a distinctly green, well-watered character compared to the drier plains closer to Bangalore.

Belur Chennakeshava Temple

Belur Chennakeshava Temple

About 40 kilometres from Sakleshpur, Belur's Chennakeshava Temple is one of the finest surviving examples of Hoysala architecture, built in 1117 CE to commemorate a military victory and covered almost entirely in intricate stone carvings of dancers, musicians, mythological scenes, and detailed friezes that run the length of the outer walls. The temple remains an active place of worship, and a guided walk around the base with a temple appointed guide, who points out specific bracket figures and narrative panels, adds considerably to the visit. Most Bangalore to Sakleshpur cab itineraries pair Belur with Halebeedu on the same day since the two towns sit only 16 kilometres apart.

Halebeedu Hoysaleswara Temple

Halebeedu Hoysaleswara Temple

Once the capital of the Hoysala Empire, Halebeedu is home to the twin shrined Hoysaleswara Temple, widely regarded as the pinnacle of Hoysala stone carving. Every wall of the temple is layered with rows of sculpted elephants, floral motifs, and Hindu mythological scenes carved into soft soapstone that has retained astonishing detail across nine centuries. Unlike Belur, this temple no longer holds regular worship, which means visitors can move around the entire structure at a slower pace to study the carvings without the crowd management seen at active shrines, making it a favourite stop for photographers and history enthusiasts alike.

Sakleshpur Green Route Railway Trek

Sakleshpur Green Route Railway Trek

The abandoned Kukke Subramanya to Sakleshpur railway trek, popularly called the Green Route, passes through more than fifty tunnels and bridges cut through dense rainforest and is one of the most sought after monsoon treks in South India. Permits are required and are managed through the local forest department, and the trek is typically done over two days with a night halt inside one of the tunnels or nearby camps. While this is a more adventurous addition to a standard sightseeing itinerary, several travellers extend their Sakleshpur cab booking specifically to fit in this trek, particularly between July and September when the waterfalls along the route are at their fullest.

Force Urbania Packages for Bangalore to Sakleshpur

Three packages cover almost every sakleshpur tour package from bangalore enquiry we receive. Each is quoted on the same garage to garage basis and each can be adjusted, because a fixed package that does not fit your group is worth nothing.

Corporate Offsite Package

Built for technology and consulting teams from Whitefield, Electronic City, Manyata and the Outer Ring Road corridor. Twelve to sixteen seater Urbania, GST invoice, proforma invoice available at quote stage for purchase order approval, GPS tracking visible to the travel desk throughout, and a driver briefed on a fixed itinerary. Sakleshpur works particularly well for offsites because the drive is short enough to leave Friday evening and be in the estates before dinner, and the estate properties handle conference set ups. Consolidated monthly invoicing is available for registered corporate accounts, and repeat bookers can move onto thirty day credit terms. See our corporate travels bangalore page for account setup.

Family Weekend Package

Designed for extended family groups of eight to thirteen travelling with children or senior members. The itinerary stays deliberately gentle: Agni Gudda at sunrise, Manjarabad Fort mid morning while it is still cool, an estate walk in the afternoon and the Bisle Ghat viewpoint on the second morning before the cloud closes in. Waterfall approaches with rough final stretches are either dropped or handled with a drop off at the nearest safe point rather than a scramble. The full recliner seating matters most on this package because the group spans both ends of the age range. Families comparing this against a premium car rentals in bangalore booking should note that one Urbania is almost always cheaper than two cabs.

Luxury Package

The top tier of urbania on rent bangalore hire for this route. The newest vehicle in the fleet, an eight or nine seater in the one by one captain layout so every passenger has an individual window seat, a chauffeur in formal attire, coordination with the better estate properties rather than the town hotels, and a schedule built around first light at the viewpoints. This suits milestone celebrations, anniversary weekends, visiting international guests and small groups of serious photographers. Airport pickup on the outbound day can be added. Book at least a week ahead, because the eight seater is the single most requested variant in the fleet and Sakleshpur weekends fill early.

Billing Details for Your Bangalore to Sakleshpur Urbania Hire

Tejas Travels quotes every booking in writing before you commit, and the billing structure below appears on that quote in exactly these terms. Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking and guarantee the specific Urbania variant on your travel date. The balance is settled at trip end.

Included in the quoted fare:

●        Base fare and fuel charges

●        Driver allowance

Excluded from the quoted fare and billed separately at actuals:

●        Toll and parking charges

●        Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border

●        Additional driver bata after 9:45 pm

●        Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

●        GST

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover as part of the booking. Passengers who want travel insurance should arrange it independently before the trip.

Two practical notes. First, garage to garage means the meter starts when the vehicle leaves our yard and stops when it returns, which is standard practice for outstation hire and is stated upfront rather than discovered on the final bill. Second, the Sakleshpur route stays entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate tax applies unless you extend the trip into Kerala or Goa. Groups searching urbania per km rate bangalore and comparing quotes should confirm whether a competing quote is garage to garage or point to point, because the two are not comparable numbers.

How to Book a Force Urbania from Bangalore to Sakleshpur

Booking takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 - Contact Tejas Travels

●        Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

●        Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location by area or landmark, such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, the airport, a hotel name or a tech park.

●        Share your destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers, and your preferred Urbania variant from the 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seater range.

●        For airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

●        For corporate, wedding or VIP bookings, mention the occasion so the team can allocate the best condition vehicle and arrange formal chauffeur attire where required.

●        For Sakleshpur specifically, share the homestay name and location, since several estate properties sit on approach roads that determine where the vehicle can safely reach.

Step 2 - Receive your written quote

●        A written quote reaches you by WhatsApp or email within 2 hours of your enquiry.

●        The quote itemises every charge: vehicle hire rate in rupees per kilometre or as a flat package, driver allowance, toll estimate, and any interstate permit if the itinerary requires one.

●        No verbal only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

●        Corporate clients needing reimbursement can request a proforma invoice at this stage.

●        If you want to compare two vehicle classes, such as the 13 seater against the 15 seater, request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 - Confirm your booking and pay the advance

●        Once you are satisfied with the written quote, confirm by WhatsApp or phone.

●        A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.

●        Pay by UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link.

●        Your advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

●        Confirmation includes driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing.

●        For peak dates, including long weekends, the monsoon season rush and the November to February wedding season, a higher advance may apply because the Urbania fleet is limited.

Step 4 - Your driver arrives early

●        Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

●        For airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the arrivals gate.

●        The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire.

●        The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

●        During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments and ghat section navigation.

●        At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods, for both the advance and the final settlement at trip end.

●        UPI. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt, and the recommended route for all advance deposits.

●        Bank transfer. NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Used by corporate clients and for advances above Rs 10,000. IMPS is instant and NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

●        Credit or debit card. Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, through a payment link sent to your registered mobile number or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

●        Net banking. All major Indian banks, through a payment link sent by WhatsApp or email. Preferred for purchase order based approvals in the Bangalore technology sector.

●        Cash. Accepted for the balance at trip end, with a receipt issued. The advance must be paid digitally for the booking to be confirmed.

●        Corporate credit. Thirty day credit terms for registered and signed corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

Fleet note: the Force Urbania fleet is smaller than the standard tempo traveller fleet, and specific variants book out ahead of long weekends, Diwali, New Year and the Bangalore wedding season. Sakleshpur weekends in particular fill fast. An advance payment is what guarantees your seating variant on your date.

Cancellation Policy

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation, with no hidden conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Sakleshpur Urbania

Sakleshpur is 220 kilometres from central Bangalore on NH75, through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna and Hassan. Realistic driving time is four and a half to five hours including one breakfast halt. The first 180 kilometres are fast four lane highway and only the final climb from Hassan through Donigal is slow, so the drive is far easier than the elevation gain suggests.

Rates start at Rs 40 per kilometre. Fuel is included and billing is garage to garage. A one night trip with local sightseeing runs about 460 kilometres in total, which puts a 13 seater booking around Rs 18,300 plus driver bata, tolls and GST. Every quote is itemised in writing before you confirm.

Twenty per cent of the total fare. The advance must be paid digitally, by UPI, bank transfer or card, for the booking to be confirmed. Your receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after the advance is deducted.

The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and the driver allowance. Charged separately are toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, additional driver bata after 9:45 pm, and GST. The final rental is calculated on the total kilometres and hours from our garage back to our garage. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels and should be arranged independently if you want it.

Yes, and plenty of groups do it. Leaving at five in the morning gets you there by ten, which allows Manjarabad Fort, an estate visit and lunch before a four o'clock departure home. What a single day does not allow is Bisle Ghat, which needs an early morning to be worth the drive, or any trekking. One night converts the same route into a substantially better trip.

October to February gives you clear skies, green slopes and comfortable daytime temperatures, and coffee harvest runs through that window. June to September is full monsoon, when the waterfalls are at their best and the whole district is in cloud, but the ghat roads get slippery, leeches are a real nuisance on trails and views close in without warning. March to May is the quietest and warmest period, and still noticeably cooler than Bangalore.

Usually, but not always. Several estate properties sit at the end of one to three kilometres of unpaved track, and a few of those approaches are unsuitable for a sixteen seater, particularly during the monsoon. Share the homestay name and location when you enquire and we will check the approach in advance, so the driver either takes the vehicle up or arranges a drop at the nearest safe point with the property's own jeep.

No. Trekking along the railway line from Donigal toward Yedakumeri is prohibited by the Railways and treated as trespass, whatever operators may advertise. Legal alternatives in the same district include Ombattu Gudda and Jenukal Gudda, both of which need a registered local guide and forest department permission, and both of which should be arranged before you travel rather than on arrival.

The fleet runs in 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seater configurations. The 8 to 10 seater uses a one by one captain layout, so every passenger gets a window seat. The 12 to 16 seater uses a two by one layout. As a rule, book one seat more than your headcount so nobody ends up sitting beside the luggage on the way back.

Cancellations more than 72 hours before departure carry no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Charges apply on a sliding scale inside that window as set out in the cancellation policy above. Date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions requested with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to fleet availability on the new date. Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference and you will have written confirmation within 2 hours.
