Sharana Basaveshwara Temple
The sharana basaveshwara temple holds the samadhi of Sharana Basaveshwara, an eighteenth-century Lingayat saint celebrated for his teaching of dasoha, the idea that giving is a form of earning. A lake lies beside the temple, and the annual chariot festival brings the city to a standstill with devotees.
Haft Gumbaz
This cluster of seven domed tombs houses several Bahmani rulers and their families. Some tombs are double-chambered, with one chamber for the king and another for his family, a feature rarely seen elsewhere. The complex is quiet and atmospheric in the late afternoon.
Shor Gumbaz
Standing on high ground near the fort, this single-domed structure with corner towers resembles a smaller Gol Gumbaz. Local guides say its name comes from the noise of passing horses, and visitors enjoy testing its echo.
Buddha Vihar
About six kilometres from the city on Sedam Road, the Buddha Vihar is a modern monastery set on 18 acres. Its marble-clad dome is about 70 feet tall and is surrounded by tall Ashoka pillars. The meditation hall below is peaceful and well maintained.

On the banks of the Bhima, the ganagapur dattatreya temple is one of the most important shrines dedicated to Lord Dattatreya and is linked to the saint Sri Narasimha Saraswati. Pilgrims bathe at the river sangam before darshan. It makes an easy half-day trip from the city.
Sannati and Kanaganahalli
About 75 kilometres away, Sannati on the Bhima is home to the Chandrala Parameshwari Temple, where excavations revealed Ashokan edicts, and to the nearby Kanaganahalli Buddhist site with the remains of a great stupa. It is a fascinating stop for history lovers.
