Places to Visit in Badami

Badami Cave Temples

Badami Cave Temples

The four rock-cut Badami cave temples are the reason most travellers book a cab to this town in the first place. Carved directly into the red sandstone cliff between the sixth and eighth centuries, the caves house Hindu, Jain, and Vaishnava shrines with some of the finest early Chalukyan sculpture in India, including an eighteen-armed Nataraja and a striking Vishnu reclining on the serpent Ananta. Climbing between the four levels takes a couple of hours and rewards visitors with a sweeping view of Agastya Lake below. Visit early morning or late afternoon when the light on the sandstone turns a deep amber and the crowds thin out, making it easier to study the carvings in the pillared verandahs without rushing.

Visit early morning or late afternoon when the light on the sandstone turns a deep amber and the crowds thin out, making it easier to study the carvings in the pillared verandahs without rushing.

Agastya Lake

Agastya Lake

Sitting at the foot of the cave temples, Agastya Lake is a spring-fed water tank believed to have healing properties and is considered one of the sacred tanks associated with the sage Agastya. The stepped ghats around the lake are lined with shrines, and the reflection of the fort walls and temple spires on the still water is one of the most photographed sights in Badami. Locals still bathe here during festivals, and the walkway around the lake connects almost every major monument in town, so it works well as a central orientation point once your cab drops you at the entrance.

Bhutanatha Temple Complex

Bhutanatha Temple Complex

Two clusters of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva as Bhutanatha stand directly across the lake from the caves, and the eastern group is easily the most photographed monument in Badami thanks to its position against the cliff and the water. Built through the early Chalukyan and later Kalyani Chalukya periods, the complex mixes Dravidian and Nagara architectural elements in a way rarely seen together elsewhere in Karnataka. Reaching it involves a short walk around the lake, and the temple is at its best right after sunrise when boatmen ferry pilgrims across and the sandstone cliffs behind glow orange.

Badami Fort

Badami Fort

Built originally by the Chalukyas and reinforced later by Tipu Sultan, Badami Fort climbs the northern hill above the town and is reached through a flight of rock-cut steps guarded by old watchtowers. Inside, the fort complex has a lower and upper Shivalaya, a granary, and cannon emplacements that once controlled the entire valley. Entry to the fort area is free, and the climb, though a little steep in places, takes under an hour. The summit gives an uninterrupted view of Agastya Lake, the cave temples, and the town rooftops, and is one of the better sunset points in the region.

Banashankari Temple

Banashankari Temple

About five kilometres from the main town, Banashankari Temple is dedicated to the presiding deity of the Chalukya and Kalachuri dynasties and remains one of the most active pilgrimage sites in the Bagalkot district. The temple tank, surrounded by a covered stone corridor with over a hundred pillars, hosts the annual Banashankari Jatre, a temple fair that draws thousands of devotees every January and February. Even outside festival season, the temple's dark stone architecture and the quiet corridor around the tank make it a peaceful stop, and most Badami taxi itineraries include it as a short detour on the way in or out of town.

Pattadakal (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Pattadakal (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site roughly twenty two kilometres from Badami, Pattadakal was where Chalukyan kings were formally crowned, and its temple complex is often described as the meeting point of North and South Indian temple architecture. Ten major temples stand within a single walled enclosure, mixing Dravidian towers like the Virupaksha and Mallikarjuna temples with Nagara style shrines such as the Kashi Vishwanatha and Papanatha temples. Virupaksha, the largest of the group, was built to commemorate a Chalukyan victory over the Pallavas and later inspired the design of the Kailasanatha temple at Ellora, which makes this stop essential for anyone interested in the evolution of Indian temple design.

Aihole

Aihole

Known as the cradle of Indian temple architecture, Aihole sits about thirty five kilometres from Badami and contains more than a hundred temples built between the sixth and twelfth centuries, ranging from simple flat roofed shrines to the more evolved Durga Temple with its curved apsidal end and surrounding gallery. Many of these structures functioned as architectural experiments, which is why the styles here vary so widely within a small area. The Ladkhan and Meguti temples are also worth the walk, and because the site is spread across the village, a full visit with a waiting cab typically takes two to three unhurried hours.

Mahakuta Temple Complex

Mahakuta Temple Complex

Roughly fourteen kilometres from Badami, the Mahakuta temple complex is built around two natural spring fed tanks believed to be sacred to Lord Shiva, and the site was an important early Chalukyan religious centre even before Badami itself rose to prominence. Devotees still take a ritual dip in the tanks, and the surrounding cluster of small Shiva shrines, mixed with coconut and banana groves, gives the place a quieter, more rural feel than the more visited monuments in town. It pairs naturally with Pattadakal and Aihole on a full day sightseeing loop out of Badami.

Force Urbania Packages for Bangalore to Badami

Three packages cover almost every bangalore to badami tour package enquiry we receive. Each one is quoted on the same garage to garage basis and each can be adjusted on request, because a fixed package that does not fit your group is worth nothing.

Corporate Heritage Offsite Package

Built for technology and consulting teams from Whitefield, Electronic City, Manyata and the Outer Ring Road corridor who want an offsite that is not another resort. Twelve to sixteen seater Urbania, GST invoice, proforma invoice available at quote stage for purchase order approval, GPS tracking visible to the travel desk for the full duration, and a driver briefed on a fixed itinerary. The package covers a three day two night circuit taking in Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole with an optional Hampi extension. Consolidated monthly invoicing is available for registered corporate accounts, and groups that book repeatedly can be moved onto thirty day credit terms. Teams travelling on this package usually depart Friday evening or very early Saturday. See our corporate travels bangalore page for account setup.

Family Heritage Package

Designed for extended family groups of eight to thirteen travelling with children or senior members. The itinerary is deliberately unhurried: a mid afternoon arrival on day one with only the lake and the museum, the caves and the fort on the morning of day two while it is cool, Pattadakal and Aihole on day three with a Banashankari stop on the way out. The Urbania full recliner seating and cabin entertainment matter most on this package because the group includes people at both ends of the age range. Child friendly halt points are pre planned rather than improvised, and the driver is instructed to stop whenever asked rather than pushing to a schedule. Families comparing this against a premium car rentals in bangalore booking should note that one Urbania is almost always cheaper than two cabs.

Luxury Package

The top tier of urbania on rent bangalore hire for this route. The newest vehicle in the fleet, an eight or nine seater configuration so that every passenger has an individual window seat in a one by one captain layout, a chauffeur in formal attire, hotel bookings coordinated at the better properties outside Badami town, and a photographer friendly schedule built around first light at the caves and sunset at Agastya Lake. This package suits milestone celebrations, anniversary trips, visiting international guests and small groups of serious heritage photographers. Vehicle decoration and airport pickup on the outbound day can be added. Advance booking of at least a week is recommended because the eight seater is the single most requested variant in the fleet.

Billing Details for Your Bangalore to Badami Urbania Hire

Tejas Travels quotes every booking in writing before you commit, and the billing structure below is stated on that quote in exactly these terms. Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking and guarantee the specific Urbania variant on your travel date. The balance is settled at trip end.

Included in the quoted fare:

●        Base fare and fuel charges

●        Driver allowance

Excluded from the quoted fare and billed separately at actuals:

●        Toll and parking charges

●        Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border

●        Additional driver bata after 9:45 pm

●        Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

●        GST

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover as part of the booking. Passengers who want travel insurance should arrange it independently before the trip.

Two practical notes on this structure. First, garage to garage means the meter starts when the vehicle leaves our yard and stops when it returns, which is standard practice for outstation hire across the industry and is stated upfront rather than discovered on the final bill. Second, the Badami route crosses no state border, so no interstate tax applies unless you extend the trip into Maharashtra or Goa. Groups searching urbania per km rate bangalore and comparing quotes should confirm whether a competing quote is garage to garage or point to point, because the two are not comparable numbers.

How to Book a Force Urbania from Bangalore to Badami

Booking takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 - Contact Tejas Travels

●        Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

●        Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location by area or landmark, such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, the airport, a hotel name or a tech park.

●        Share your destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers, and your preferred Urbania variant from the 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seater range.

●        For airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

●        For corporate, wedding or VIP bookings, mention the occasion so the team can allocate the best condition vehicle and arrange formal chauffeur attire where required.

Step 2 - Receive your written quote

●        A written quote reaches you by WhatsApp or email within 2 hours of your enquiry.

●        The quote itemises every charge: vehicle hire rate in rupees per kilometre or as a flat package, driver allowance, toll estimate, and any interstate permit if the itinerary requires one.

●        No verbal only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

●        Corporate clients needing reimbursement can request a proforma invoice at this stage.

●        If you want to compare two vehicle classes, such as the 13 seater against the 15 seater, request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 - Confirm your booking and pay the advance

●        Once you are satisfied with the written quote, confirm by WhatsApp or phone.

●        A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.

●        Pay by UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link.

●        Your advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

●        Confirmation includes driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing.

●        For peak travel dates, including the November to February wedding season and the New Year period, a higher advance may apply because the Urbania fleet is limited.

Step 4 - Your driver arrives early

●        Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

●        For airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the arrivals gate.

●        The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire.

●        The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

●        During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments and traffic navigation.

●        At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods, for both the advance and the final settlement at trip end.

●        UPI. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt, and the recommended route for all advance deposits.

●        Bank transfer. NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Used by corporate clients and for advances above Rs 10,000. IMPS is instant and NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

●        Credit or debit card. Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, through a payment link sent to your registered mobile number or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

●        Net banking. All major Indian banks, through a payment link sent by WhatsApp or email. Preferred for purchase order based approvals in the Bangalore technology sector.

●        Cash. Accepted for the balance at trip end, with a receipt issued. The advance must be paid digitally for the booking to be confirmed.

●        Corporate credit. Thirty day credit terms for registered and signed corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

Fleet note: the Force Urbania fleet is smaller than the standard tempo traveller fleet, and specific variants book out ahead of long weekends, Diwali, New Year and the Bangalore wedding season. An advance payment is what guarantees your seating variant on your date.

Cancellation Policy

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation, with no hidden conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Badami Urbania

Badami is 495 kilometres from central Bangalore by the NH48 route through Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Davangere and Hubballi. Realistic driving time is 9 to 10 hours including a lunch halt and two short breaks. The alternate route through Hospet and Ilkal is 465 kilometres but slower on the second half, and is chosen mainly when the group wants to add Hampi to the itinerary.

Rates start at Rs 40 per kilometre. Fuel is included and billing is garage to garage. A typical two night Badami circuit runs about 1,000 kilometres in total, which puts a 13 seater booking in the region of Rs 38,300 plus driver bata, tolls and GST. Every quote is itemised in writing before you confirm.

Twenty per cent of the total fare. The advance must be paid digitally, by UPI, bank transfer or card, for the booking to be confirmed. Your receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after the advance is deducted.

The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and the driver allowance. Charged separately are toll and parking, interstate tax where applicable, additional driver bata after 9:45 pm, and GST. The final rental is calculated on the total kilometres and hours from our garage back to our garage. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels and should be arranged independently if you want it.

It is physically possible and we do not recommend it. A same day return means twenty hours in the vehicle and on the road for perhaps three hours at the site, which is not enough to see even the four caves properly. Two nights and three days is the right length, and it lets you add Pattadakal and Aihole without rushing any of them.

They are on all our standard packages. Pattadakal is 22 kilometres from Badami and Aihole is a further 13 kilometres beyond it, so the three sites form a natural single day loop. Mahakuta and Banashankari can be added to the same day if the group starts early. The driver knows the sequence that avoids doubling back.

October to February. North Karnataka summers from March to May are severe and the cave climb becomes genuinely uncomfortable by ten in the morning. The monsoon months are pleasant and green but the sandstone steps get slippery. If your dates fall in January or February, check whether they coincide with the Banashankari fair, which brings large crowds to that temple for close to three weeks.

The fleet runs in 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seater configurations. The 8 to 10 seater uses a one by one captain layout, so every passenger gets a window seat, which is the most comfortable option for a long run like Badami. The 12 to 16 seater uses a two by one layout. As a rule, book one seat more than your headcount so nobody sits beside the luggage.

Yes, every booking includes a professionally dressed, licensed driver, and the driver allowance is part of the quoted fare. On multi day trips the driver arranges their own accommodation and the driver bata covers it. There is no separate room charge passed on to you unless the itinerary requires the driver to stay at a location where no driver accommodation exists, which is not the case anywhere on the Badami route.

Cancellations more than 72 hours before departure carry no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Charges apply on a sliding scale inside that window as set out in the cancellation policy above. Date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions requested with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to fleet availability on the new date. Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference and you will have written confirmation within 2 hours.
