Manjunatha Temple
The temple stands on the Nethravathi and the deity is Manjunatha, a form of Shiva, with the daivas Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari as guardians. Madhwa Vaishnava priests conduct the worship, and the Jain Heggade family has administered the institution for around eight centuries. Pilgrims traditionally bathe in the river before darshan. Visit in the morning or the evening session; the temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the queue moves efficiently by the standards of shrines this busy.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Yediyur
Siddhalingeshwara Temple Town
The route leaves Bangalore northwest onto NH 75, and the Nelamangala junction is the only stretch that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past it before 7:00 AM, since four corridors diverge there and weekend traffic builds quickly. Beyond it the highway opens properly. Kunigal has one of the oldest stud farms in India, associated with Tipu Sultan. Yediyur, twenty-five kilometres on, has a lakeside Siddhalingeshwara temple and the best breakfast cluster on this road - worth using properly, since the options thin considerably after Hassan and there is nothing much on the ghat.

Hassan
Base of the Hoysala Belt
Eighty-five kilometres of good four-lane highway as the landscape shifts into plantation country - coconut, areca and paddy, greener and more enclosed than the open ground behind. Channarayapatna is the junction for Shravanabelagola, where the Gommateshwara monolith stands twelve kilometres off the highway. Hassan is the district headquarters and the base for the Hoysala circuit at Belur and Halebidu, both UNESCO World Heritage since 2023. On a Dharmasthala run most groups pass straight through, though for anyone with a spare half day Belur is thirty-five kilometres north and worth it. Beyond Hassan the road begins its approach to the Ghats.

Sakleshpur
Coffee Hill Town of the Hassan Ghats
Sakleshpur sits where the plantations begin, a coffee and cardamom town at the top of the range with estate country spreading around it. Beyond it the road enters the Shiradi ghat and starts down toward the coast through forest - a long descent that has been rebuilt in concrete along much of its length precisely because the monsoon used to take the surface out every year. This is the section our drivers check on before departure. In a normal season it is a straightforward if slow descent; in a bad monsoon it can be under repair, restricted or closed, and the alternative is Charmadi from Kottigehara or a considerably longer diversion. We would rather establish the position at 5 AM than at the barrier.

Dharmasthala
Abode of Dharma
At the foot of the ghat the country changes completely - coastal Karnataka, humid and dense, with areca and coconut where there was forest, and the Nethravathi running alongside. Uppinangady sits at the confluence of the Nethravathi and the Kumaradhara, which is a bathing place in its own right and a natural stop. Ujire comes eight kilometres before the temple and is the local town, with the college the Heggade family founded and the base for the Bandaje trek. Dharmasthala itself is compact and entirely organised around the temple - dining halls, accommodation blocks, the museum and the river. Vehicle access near the temple is managed and drops are at designated points. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in by around 12:30 PM, in time for a meal and an afternoon darshan.

Cab Packages for Every Traveller
Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four tiers below describe how we typically structure car booking enquiries on this corridor.
Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya Package
The circuit almost everyone books. The two shrines are sixty kilometres apart on winding hill road, and together they are a comfortable two days with a night at either. Kukke is the principal place in South India for the Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali rituals, which run to their own calendar and fill well in advance - so where a ritual is the reason for the trip, we plan the vehicle around the slot you have secured rather than the other way round. Adding Udupi or Mangalore extends it to three days and takes you to the coast.
Family and Pilgrimage Cab Package
For families travelling for darshan at Manjunatha, which for a great many is an annual or vowed visit across three generations. The planning here is unusual because the temple organises so much of it - the meal and often the accommodation are handled by the institution rather than by you. What we do is get you in by early afternoon so both are straightforward rather than rushed, and advise on the Ujire hotels as a fallback. Innova and Innova Crysta are usual, with tempo travellers for larger parties, and child seats can be arranged with notice.
Weekend Package
Dharmasthala works well as a Bangalore weekend at six hours each way, and it is one of the few pilgrimage destinations at this distance where accommodation is not the constraint it usually is. A Saturday dawn start gives you the temple, Bahubali and the museums on the first day and Kukke on the second, with a Sunday evening return. Three days lets you continue to the coast at Mangalore or Udupi. The ghat is the one variable we check before every departure, and in the monsoon months we will say honestly if the position looks poor.
Premium and Luxury Cab Package
For senior family groups, guest hosting and travellers who want the drive and the ghat to be comfortable. This tier covers our premium car rentals in bangalore range and the innova hycross rent bangalore fleet, alongside our luxury car rental bangalore options. A ghat descent with a temple queue at the end is felt by elderly passengers more than the distance suggests, and on the Charmadi routing in particular the suspension makes a real difference.
Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment
Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Dharmasthala corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.
Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
1. Base fare and fuel charges
2. Driver allowance
Not Included in the Quoted Fare
3. Toll and parking charges
4. Interstate tax and permit charges
5. Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra
6. Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
7. GST
Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law.
Three points are specific to this route. First, this journey stays entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises - the exclusion above remains in our standard terms because it applies on our other corridors. Second, temple accommodation, seva and any ritual booking at Dharmasthala or Kukke Subramanya are arranged directly with the respective temples and paid to them; we arrange transport and timing only, we take no margin on temple charges, and we cannot secure accommodation or a Sarpa Samskara slot. Third, where a ghat closure forces a diversion the additional kilometres are billed at the quoted per-kilometre rate, and we will tell you the expected difference before you set off rather than after.

How to Book a Car for Rent in Bangalore — Step-by-Step
Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |

At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |

What Our Customers Say About Our Cab Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Dharmasthala Cab
The bangalore to dharmasthala distance is around 300 km via NH 75 through Hassan and Sakleshpur and down the Shiradi ghat, or around 310 km via Chikmagalur and the Charmadi ghat. A cab takes 6 to 7 hours with one halt. The route stays entirely within Karnataka. The ghat descent and the last stretch to the temple are winding hill road where the pace drops considerably.
Shiradi when it is in good order - it is the main NH 75 crossing, wider and better graded, with long concrete stretches built because the monsoon used to destroy the surface annually. Charmadi from Kottigehara is the alternative: narrower, steeper, more beautiful and quicker to close for landslip risk. Both have a history of monsoon damage and closure. Our drivers check the position on both before departure and route accordingly, and if a diversion is needed we tell you the expected extra distance before setting off.
No. The temple runs extensive free and low-cost pilgrim accommodation alongside paid guest houses, and all of it is administered by the temple through its own offices rather than through agents or booking sites. Allocation is not something any transport operator can arrange, and anyone claiming to secure it for a fee should be treated with caution. Check the current position with the temple close to your dates. Ujire, eight kilometres away, has private hotels if you would rather not depend on it.
Yes. The Annapoorna dining hall serves free meals to every visitor in sittings through the day, on a scale few kitchens anywhere match - tens of thousands of meals a day at busy periods. There is no means test and no requirement to have made an offering. For most pilgrims the meal is part of the visit rather than an extra, and watching the operation run is genuinely impressive in itself.
Almost everyone does, and it is the right shape for this trip. Kukke is sixty kilometres away on winding road and is the principal place in South India for the Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali rituals performed for Naga Dosha. Those bookings are made directly with the temple, run to their own calendar and fill well in advance - so if a ritual is your reason for travelling, secure the slot first and we will build the vehicle around it. Two days covers both comfortably.
A sedan starts at Rs 7,000 for a one-way drop and Rs 14,500 for a two-day Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya circuit. Innova and premium SUV rates are quoted on vehicle and itinerary, and larger vehicles on group size. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, toll estimate and GST separately. Where a ghat closure forces a diversion, the extra kilometres are billed at the quoted rate and we tell you the expected difference in advance.
A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your dates. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing. For Lakshadeepotsava in November or December, book well ahead - the town fills entirely.
Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. No interstate permit arises since the route stays within Karnataka. Temple accommodation, seva and ritual bookings at Dharmasthala and Kukke are paid to the temples directly and we take no margin on them. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. For temple committee and community groups, which travel this route constantly, a group policy is usually inexpensive and straightforward.
Whether you are travelling for darshan at Manjunatha, combining it with the Sarpa Samskara at Kukke Subramanya, bringing the family for an annual visit, or continuing to the coast at Mangalore and Udupi, Tejas Tours and Travels has the vehicles, the drivers and the route knowledge to plan it properly - including checking both ghats before we set off rather than finding out at the barrier. Our bangalore to dharmasthala cab service is priced transparently, quoted in writing within two hours, and confirmed with a 20 percent advance.
