Places to Visit in Virajpet

Virajpet Town and St Anne Church

Virajpet Town and St Anne Church

The town was founded in 1792 by Vira Rajendra of the Haleri line, who commemorated a treaty here and built a church for the Christians of his territory in the same year - St Anne, one of the oldest in this part of Karnataka, with a bell said to have come from a European foundry. The clock tower in the centre is the other landmark. Virajpet is a coffee and honey trading town rather than a sightseeing one; visit for an hour, buy honey from the traders, and treat it as your base rather than your destination.

Padi Igguthappa Temple

Padi Igguthappa Temple

At Kakkabe, around twenty-five kilometres from Virajpet, stands the principal temple of the Kodava people - Igguthappa, a form of Subrahmanya, is the presiding deity of the community and this shrine is central to Kodava religious life in a way no other in the district is. The annual festival in March or April draws Kodavas home from across the world. Visit in the morning. The setting among coffee estates below the hills is part of it, and for anyone interested in Kodava culture specifically this is the place to start.

Nalknad Palace and Tadiandamol

Nalknad Palace and Tadiandamol

Nalknad, beyond Kakkabe, is a modest two-storey palace built in the 1790s by the Haleri rajas as a hunting seat and refuge, with painted walls and carved wood in the Kodava manner - the last raja was captured here. Behind it rises Tadiandamol at around 1,748 metres, the highest peak in Kodagu, with the trail starting near the palace. Visit the palace for half an hour and the trek as a full day. The climb is around seven kilometres each way through shola and grassland and is moderately demanding rather than severe.

Iruppu Falls and Brahmagiri

Iruppu Falls and Brahmagiri

Around fifty kilometres south, Iruppu drops through forest on the Lakshmana Tirtha river with a Rameshwara temple at its foot, and tradition connects the stream to Rama and Lakshmana - it is a short walk up from the road and among the more visited falls in the district. Behind it the Brahmagiri range holds a wildlife sanctuary and a trek with forest department permits. Visit the falls between July and December when there is real water; the Brahmagiri trek needs its own day and current permit arrangements confirmed in advance.

Nagarhole National Park

Nagarhole National Park

Around fifty kilometres east, Nagarhole is one of the better tiger reserves in India and among the most reliable in the country for elephant and gaur, with leopard, dhole and a strong tiger population - safaris run from Nagarhole and Kutta gates, morning and afternoon, booked with the forest department. Visit between October and May; March to May concentrates animals around water and gives the best sightings. Numbers are capped and the popular slots go early, so book with the department before fixing the rest of the itinerary.

Bylakuppe and Namdroling Monastery

Bylakuppe and Namdroling Monastery

Forty kilometres north near Kushalnagar, Bylakuppe is the largest Tibetan settlement in South India, established in the early 1960s, and the Namdroling monastery at its centre - the golden temple - holds three enormous gilded statues in a prayer hall that is genuinely unexpected in the Karnataka countryside. Several thousand monks and nuns study here. Visit in the morning or for the evening prayers, which are the better time. Dress modestly, photography is restricted inside, and note that entry to parts of the settlement can require permits for foreign nationals.

Force Urbania Packages for the Bangalore to Virajpet Route

Corporate Package

Coorg is among the two or three most-booked corporate offsite destinations from Bangalore, and South Coorg is the quieter, more considered half of it. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named chauffeur for the full trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. A corporate offsite coorg booking of this kind typically runs Friday to Sunday at an estate property with a plantation walk, a trek and a safari, which means the vehicle works to an activity schedule rather than a sightseeing one. The Urbania suits a leadership team of twelve to sixteen particularly well — it carries the whole group without the coach atmosphere, and it reaches the estate properties that make an offsite worth doing. Our corporate travels desk manages the arrangement end to end, including confirming vehicle access with the property.

Family Package

Multi-generation family groups, which are the other half of Coorg’s premium market. These itineraries have to work simultaneously for people who will climb Thadiyandamol at dawn and people who will not leave the verandah, and Coorg’s short distances make that unusually easy to arrange — nothing is more than an hour away, so a group can split after breakfast and regroup for lunch. The Urbania solves the specific problem of an older passenger and an estate road: an easy step up into the vehicle, a proper reclining seat, and a ride that stays settled over an unpaved kilometre. We flag Chelavara for anyone unsteady on wet rock and plan the day so the non-trekkers have Nalknad, the Igguthappa temple and a plantation walk while the rest are on the mountain.

Luxury and Executive Package

The Urbania’s premium configuration, with wider captain-style seating, greater legroom, superior interior finish and additional cabin insulation. Coorg’s estate resorts at the top end are as good as anything in South India, and the vehicle that arrives at them tends to be judged accordingly. Luxury urbania rental bangalore is our most-requested tier for this district, and beyond appearances it does real work: better suspension over plantation tracks and lower cabin noise on a winding approach are what a group notices across four days. Suited to senior management travel, milestone family occasions and anniversary trips.

Wedding and Celebration Package

Kodagu has become a serious destination-wedding location, and guest movement is the part that most often goes wrong. Guests arrive from Bangalore in ones and twos, estate venues are scattered, and the roads between them are slow and poorly lit at night. A single urbania for wedding bangalore booking moves sixteen guests door to door, arrives as a group, and stays available for transfers between the venue, accommodation and the temple across the event. Chauffeurs attend in formal attire for wedding bookings. For larger guest lists we combine an Urbania for the immediate family with cars or a mini bus for the wider party — our wedding car rental bangalore division coordinates the whole movement.

Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore

The Force Urbania heads our small-group category in 13 and 17 seater configurations, all air-conditioned. We operate the full range of group vehicles from one Bangalore base, so if your headcount shifts after booking we can usually move you between categories — though on this route that decision also affects whether the vehicle can reach your property.

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the core vehicle for this route and the largest that reliably reaches an estate homestay

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, the budget alternative on the same roads

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater. The 12 to 17 seaters manage most estate properties; the 20 and 24 seaters need checking

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches. Workable to Virajpet town, rarely to an estate

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova and Commuter through Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On a six-hour daytime route this is not a consideration, and we would not recommend arriving at a Coorg estate after dark in any case.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

Bangalore to Virajpet stays within Karnataka, so no interstate permit applies. Extending into Kerala — Wayanad, or the border crossings near Iruppu — does require one, quoted as a separate line item. The Bangalore-Mysore expressway carries tolls, so the toll estimate here is higher than the modest distance suggests.

The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. This is built into the written quote, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required — worth considering on a Coorg trip that includes trekking, since Thadiyandamol and the Brahmagiri trails are forest department managed and any arrangements there are separate from us. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across our fleet.

How to Book a Force Urbania for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking an Urbania for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location — area or landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park.

•             Share your destination or full itinerary.

•             Share your number of passengers.

•             Share your preferred configuration: 13 seater or 17 seater Urbania, standard or luxury interior.

•             Tell us the name of your Coorg estate or homestay, so the chauffeur has the directions and contact number before departure — estate signage is minimal and mobile coverage is patchy.

•             For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The chauffeur tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

•             For weddings, corporate events and VIP travel, mention the occasion so the team can allocate the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

•             Tell us if the group plans the Thadiyandamol trek or a Nagarhole safari, since both need the day built around a fixed early start.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote itemises every charge:

•             Urbania hire rate — per kilometre or flat package

•             Driver allowance — Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class and trip duration

•             Applicable toll estimates, including the Bangalore-Mysore expressway

•             Interstate permit only where the itinerary leaves Karnataka — Kerala for Wayanad, Tamil Nadu for Ooty. Not applicable for Virajpet.

•             GST

•             No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

•             For corporate clients requiring reimbursement, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•             If you want to compare two classes — Urbania against tempo traveller, or 13 seater against 17 seater — request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and guarantees the specific vehicle on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time

•             Pickup location confirmation

•             Full billing breakdown — all sent to WhatsApp or email in writing

•             Coorg is the most heavily booked weekend destination from Bangalore and Urbania fleet numbers are limited. For long weekends, the October to February season, wedding dates and the December holidays, book as early as you can.

Step 4 — Your Chauffeur Arrives Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels chauffeur arrives at the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•             For KIA airport transfers, the chauffeur coordinates at the Arrivals gate.

•             The vehicle is clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.

•             For wedding and VIP bookings, the chauffeur arrives in formal attire.

•             The chauffeur calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the chauffeur handles all routing, toll payments, expressway exits, Bangalore traffic and estate road driving.

•             Through the Coorg itinerary the chauffeur positions the vehicle for trek drops, safari gate timings and plantation visits as scheduled.

•             At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Force Urbania Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance booking and final settlement at trip end.

•             UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

•             Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. For corporate clients and advances above Rs 5,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•             Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•             Net banking — All major Indian banks. Payment link via WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore IT corporate PO-based approvals.

•             Cash — Balance payable at time of travel, accepted at trip end. The advance must be digital for booking confirmation. A receipt is issued.

•             Corporate credit — For registered corporate accounts, with 30-day credit terms for signed Bangalore corporate clients and monthly consolidated invoicing available.

A 20 percent advance confirms your booking and guarantees vehicle availability. Because Urbania fleet numbers are limited and Coorg is our busiest weekend corridor, a higher advance may be requested for long weekends, wedding dates and the December to January season.

Cancellation Policy — Force Urbania Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation. There are no hidden conditions.

•             More than 72 hours before departure — No cancellation charge. 100 percent of the advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days.

•             48 to 72 hours before departure — 10 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 10 percent deduction.

•             12 to 24 hours before departure — 50 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 50 percent deduction.

•             Cancellation by Tejas Travels due to breakdown or force majeure — No cancellation charge. 100 percent refunded within 2 working days, or a substitute vehicle is offered.

Special Cancellation Conditions

•             Multi-day outstation hire including Virajpet, Madikeri, Nagarhole and Wayanad — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund on overnight or multi-day Urbania hire from Bangalore.

•             Weddings — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of the wedding date are non-refundable.

•             Premium vehicles — luxury-configuration Urbania and high-end cars require a minimum 5-day notice for a full refund, given limited Bangalore fleet availability and wedding season demand.

•             Peak dates — long weekends, the December to January season, New Year, Diwali and Dasara require a minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.

•             Force majeure — Bangalore bandhs, Kodagu landslides and road closures, traffic disruptions and monsoon damage attract a 100 percent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period. Kodagu has seen serious monsoon landslides in recent years and we monitor conditions on this corridor closely through the season.

•             Modifications — date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.

To cancel, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference. Cancellation confirmation follows within 2 hours, and the refund goes to your original payment method within the stated timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Virajpet Urbania

The bangalore to virajpet distance by road is approximately 265 kilometres via the Bangalore-Mysore expressway, then Hunsur, Titimati and Gonikoppal. Allow 6 to 7 hours including a breakfast halt at Mysore. The expressway has taken close to an hour off this journey compared with a few years ago, and the only real variable now is how long it takes to clear Bangalore at the start. A 6:00 AM departure puts a group in Virajpet by early afternoon with the rest of the day free.

Almost always, and that is the main reason to book this class for Coorg. Estate properties sit at the end of private plantation roads that are often unpaved, sometimes steep and rarely trimmed for a high roofline. A 13 or 17 seater Urbania gets in where a 20 or 24 seater sometimes cannot and a coach usually cannot. We still ask for the property name before confirming and we will tell you honestly if access looks doubtful, but with this vehicle the answer is generally straightforward. Give us the estate’s contact number too — signage is minimal and mobile coverage in the plantations is patchy.

Urbania fare starts around Rs 20,700. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Because South Coorg is where the attractions are. Kakkabe, with Nalknad Palace and the Thadiyandamol trailhead, is around twenty-five kilometres from Virajpet and closer to sixty from Madikeri. Chelavara is under twenty, the Nagarhole Kutta gate around forty, Iruppu about fifty. From Madikeri each of those is a longer drive on the same slow roads, and a group based in the north loses an hour or two a day to it. If your plan is Raja’s Seat and Abbey Falls, stay at Madikeri. If it is trekking, Nagarhole and the Kodava heartland, stay south.

Both reach the same estate properties and both are perfectly capable on this route, so the choice is comfort against cost. A tempo traveller is the more economical option. The Urbania has a monocoque body with less body roll on plantation tracks, a stand-up cabin that matters when sixteen people board in the rain, individual air vents, better seats and considerably better sound insulation. Over a six-hour drive the gap is modest; over four days of estate roads and daily excursions it is not. We are happy to quote both together.

We handle the transport to and from both and we schedule the days around them. Nagarhole safaris run in forest department vehicles on fixed morning and afternoon timings with limited capacity, so book slots well ahead for a group of sixteen and share the timings with us. Thadiyandamol needs a start from the Nalknad Palace side at around seven in the morning, which changes how we plan the previous evening — tell us at enquiry stage. Forest permissions for both rest with the department and any arrangements there are separate from our booking.

October to February is the best window — the monsoon has passed, the estates are green, the falls are running and the weather is cool. March to May is warm and dry, and the coffee blossom in March or April is worth timing a trip around if you can manage it. June to September brings very heavy rain to Kodagu; the district is at its most beautiful and its estate roads at their most difficult, and the region has seen serious landslides in recent years. We watch conditions closely through the season and will say honestly if we think a route is unwise.

A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Coorg is our busiest weekend corridor and Urbania fleet numbers are limited, so for long weekends, the October to February season and wedding dates, book as far ahead as you can.

Yes to both, and on this route it is the only sensible arrangement — Coorg’s attractions are spread across short distances on slow roads, and a group without its own vehicle is effectively confined to the property. The same vehicle and chauffeur stay with you throughout, covering Kakkabe, Igguthappa, Chelavara, Kutta, Iruppu, Bhagamandala and Madikeri as required. For destination weddings the vehicle remains available for transfers between venue, accommodation and temple across the event, with the chauffeur in formal attire. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, which on a six-hour daytime route is not a consideration — and we would not recommend arriving at a Coorg estate after dark in any case. On insurance: we do not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered, which is worth thinking about on a trip that includes trekking. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every chauffeur is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com. Our urbania booking online and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
