Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha Temple
The Sannidhanam, where Lord Ayyappa is worshipped in a meditative yogic posture, draws millions of devotees each season. The final approach is up the Pathinettam Padi, the eighteen sacred steps, which only devotees carrying the irumudi may climb. The ghee brought in the coconut is offered for the abhishekam, and the aravana payasam and appam sold here are carried home as prasadam.

Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Mango Capital of South India
Leaving before dawn, the cab clears Hosur Road and the Attibele border into Tamil Nadu quickly, with the interstate permit checked at the check post. Hosur, the industrial town just past the border, was known as Little England in British times for its cool weather. The road then runs through rocky hills and mango orchards to Krishnagiri, one of South India’s biggest mango-growing districts, whose roadside stalls overflow with Banganapalli and Alphonso from April to July. Since Ayyappa devotees on vratham follow a simple vegetarian diet, drivers choose pure-vegetarian restaurants for breakfast, and Krishnagiri has several excellent ones that open early. Expect to reach here in about an hour and a half.

Steel City of Tamil Nadu
A fast four-lane stretch through Dharmapuri, the turnoff for Hogenakkal Falls, leads down the Thoppur ghat into Salem. The city is known as the Steel City for its steel plant and is also famous for sago, silk weaving and mangoes, with the Shevaroy Hills and Yercaud rising above it. Unlike the route to Coimbatore, the Sabarimala route stays on NH44 heading south, using the Salem bypass. In the pilgrim season you begin to see many vehicles carrying devotees in black, and groups often sing bhajans at rest stops along this stretch. Elapsed time is roughly three hours.

Gateway to the Cardamom Hills
The landscape turns greener as the Western Ghats appear, and the road passes through Batlagundu and Periyakulam, a town known for its mango groves, before reaching Theni. Theni is a busy market town at the foot of the Cardamom Hills and one of the main trading centres for cardamom, cotton and vegetables grown in the fertile valley. The Vaigai Dam lies a short distance away. From here the hills are close on both sides, and the air begins to cool. Theni is the last large town before the ghat, so drivers usually take a tea break and fuel stop here.
Spice Town and Gateway to Thekkady
The road runs through the Cumbum Valley, where vineyards stretch across the flat land between the hills and grapes are harvested almost throughout the year, earning the valley its name as the Grape Capital of South India. At Gudalur and Lower Camp the climb begins, a series of hairpin bends up the Kumily ghat with views back over the valley. This is the stretch that makes daylight driving worthwhile. At the top, Kumily sits on the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border, where the Kerala permit is checked. The town is full of spice shops selling cardamom, pepper and cinnamon, and it is the gateway to Thekkady and the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

Where Ayyappa and Vavar Are Honoured Together
Inside Kerala the road winds through Vandiperiyar and its tea factories to Peermade, a cool plateau of tea estates named after the Sufi saint Peer Mohammed, whose tomb stands in the town. Nearby Kuttikkanam has pine forests and old planters’ bungalows. The road then descends past rubber plantations to Mundakayam and branches off to Erumeli. Here most devotees stop to perform the traditional rituals: praying at the Vavar mosque, visiting the Sastha temple and joining the Petta Thullal. The town is packed with pilgrims throughout the season, and your driver will know where to wait. Erumeli is also a good place for a meal before the final stretch.

Dakshina Ganga
The last 56 kilometres pass through Kanamala and climb into dense forest to Nilakkal, the main base camp. During the Mandala and Makaravilakku season, private vehicles are generally parked here, and devotees travel the final 22 kilometres to Pampa on KSRTC chain service buses. The rules on dropping pilgrims at Pampa can change from season to season, and our drivers follow whatever arrangement the police and Travancore Devaswom Board announce. At Pampa, devotees bathe in the river, pray at the Ganapathi temple and begin the 5 kilometre climb to the Sannidhanam, while your driver waits at Nilakkal for the return.

Many Bangalore companies arrange pilgrimage travel for employee devotee groups each season. This package includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, named drivers and daily duty slips. Larger groups are managed through our corporate travels bangalore desk with consolidated billing.
The most booked option. An Innova Crysta or Hycross carries six devotees with their irumudi and luggage, and our drivers respect vratham customs, including vegetarian halts. For larger groups, a tempo traveller for sabarimala from bangalore keeps up to eighteen devotees together under one guruswamy.
A clean Etios or Dzire with a verified driver for small groups. Shared among four devotees, a bangalore to sabarimala round trip cab costs little more per person than bus tickets and local transport, with far more comfort and flexibility.
For senior devotees and families who want maximum comfort on a long journey. Choose from the Camry, Corolla Altis, Fortuner, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class and S Class, or the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Our luxury car rental bangalore options are available all season, and a higher advance may apply.
Combine Sabarimala with Pandalam, Guruvayur, Chottanikkara, Ettumanoor or Palani in a four to six day circuit using the same car and driver. Share your list of temples and we will plan the order, halts and daily driving hours.

Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

The bangalore to sabarimala distance by road is approximately 620 kilometres to Pampa via Salem, Dindigul, Theni, Kumily and Erumeli. Expect 11 to 12 hours of driving, plus the 5 kilometre climb from Pampa to the temple. Leaving Bangalore by 4:00 AM lets you cross the Kumily ghat in daylight and reach Nilakkal by late afternoon.
Fares start from around Rs 15 per kilometre for a sedan and vary with the vehicle, the number of days and whether you travel one way or return. The fare includes base fare, fuel and driver allowance. Toll and parking, Tamil Nadu and Kerala interstate tax, driver bata after 9:45 PM and GST are extra, and the final rental is based on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking and reserves your vehicle. Demand peaks during the Mandala season and around Makaravilakku in mid-January, so we recommend booking at least three to four weeks ahead for those dates.
The Kumily route through Dindigul and Theni is shorter at about 620 kilometres and passes Erumeli, which suits devotees following the traditional rituals. The Coimbatore, Thrissur and Angamaly route is around 700 kilometres with more four-lane highway, and works well if you plan to include Guruvayur or Chottanikkara.
During the Mandala and Makaravilakku season, private vehicles are generally parked at the Nilakkal base camp, and pilgrims take KSRTC buses for the last 22 kilometres to Pampa. The rules on dropping pilgrims at Pampa can change each season, and our drivers follow the current police and Devaswom Board instructions. Your driver waits at Nilakkal for the return.
Yes. The Travancore Devaswom Board operates an online virtual queue system for darshan, and devotees should book their slot and carry the printout and valid photo ID. Please secure your virtual queue slot first, then share the date with us so we can plan your departure time around it.
The main pilgrimage is the Mandala season from mid-November to late December, followed by the Makaravilakku season that ends in mid-January. The temple also opens for the first few days of each Malayalam month and for festivals such as Vishu. Check the dates announced by the Travancore Devaswom Board before booking.
A small advance of around 20 percent of the total fare is typically collected at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and driver allocation, with the remaining balance payable at
the end of the trip either in cash directly to the driver or online via a payment link.
Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent, and tiered cancellation policy. All terms communicated in writing at booking confirmation.
