Mahanandiswara Swamy Temple
The main reason for the journey. The mahanandi temple was first built by the Badami Chalukyas in the seventh century, with additions made in the tenth and fifteenth centuries. The tower over the sanctum follows the Badami Chalukyan style, while the halls and outer structures show Vijayanagara work. The linga is a rough, uncut swayambhu stone with two cavities, and unusually, devotees are allowed to touch it and offer prayers directly. The temple is surrounded by forest and farmland, which gives it a calm, rural atmosphere very different from busier pilgrimage towns.

Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.
highway plazas
The early start matters most in the first hour. Leaving at 5:00 AM means Bellary Road, the Hebbal flyover and the airport expressway are almost empty, and you are past the Kempegowda International Airport turnoff in about forty minutes. Pickups from Electronic City, Whitefield, HSR Layout or Bannerghatta Road usually join through the Outer Ring Road so the driver avoids the city centre. By Chikkaballapur the sky is lightening over the Nandi Hills range on the left, and the district reminds travellers of its best-known son, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the engineer born at nearby Muddenahalli. Most groups do not stop here on the outbound run; it is simply the point where the city is well behind you and the long highway section begins. If anyone in the group needs an early tea, the highway plazas beyond Chikkaballapur open before dawn.
Second Capital of the Vijayanagara Empire
Penukonda rises on the right of the highway, its long fort walls running along the hillside. After the fall of Hampi in 1565, the Vijayanagara rulers moved their court here, and the town served as their capital for a period. The Gagan Mahal palace, the old fort gateways and a cluster of Jain and Hindu temples still stand, along with the Babayya Dargah, which draws visitors of all faiths. A short detour of about thirty minutes is enough for the palace and a look at the fort walls. Nearby, the large automobile plant that has transformed the local economy is visible from the road, a striking contrast to the sixteenth-century ruins. For history lovers this is the most rewarding stop on the first half of the drive, and it links neatly with the Vijayanagara story many travellers already know from Hampi and Lepakshi.

Groundnut Bowl of Andhra Pradesh
Anantapur is the largest town on the route and the centre of Andhra Pradesh's groundnut country; fields of groundnut stretch across the district through much of the year. The town is well known for the chariot-shaped ISKCON temple on its outskirts, which is visible from the bypass and makes a pleasant fifteen-minute stop. Anantapur also has the best choice of restaurants, fuel stations and clean restrooms on the entire route, so it is the natural point for a proper break around the midpoint of the drive. Here the cab leaves NH44 and takes the bypass towards Tadipatri. The road narrows to two lanes but stays in good condition, running through dry scrubland, farmland and small villages. From this point the drive feels less like a highway run and more like a journey into the Rayalaseema countryside.

Temple Town on the Penna River
Tadipatri sits on the banks of the Penna river and holds two fine Vijayanagara-era temples: the Chintala Venkataramana Swamy Temple, admired for its carved stone chariot and pillared halls, and the Bugga Ramalingeswara Temple beside the river. Each needs about thirty to forty-five minutes. Around thirty kilometres further, near Kolimigundla, the road passes the turnoff for Belum Caves. If you are travelling on a two-day plan, most groups keep the caves for the return journey; on a three-day plan, they fit easily on the way out. The bangalore to belum caves distance is roughly 295 kilometres, so it also works as a stand-alone weekend trip. The countryside here is known for limestone and cement works, and the flat fields around the cave entrance give no hint of the huge chambers hidden beneath them.

Home of the Banganapalli Mango
Banaganapalle was once a small princely state ruled by Nawabs, and its name is now known across India through the Banganapalli mango, the large, golden, fibre-free variety that carries a Geographical Indication tag. Between April and June the roadside stalls are piled high with fresh fruit, and many travellers buy a box for the return journey. The town is also the turnoff for Yaganti, about 11 kilometres away, and home to the Veera Brahmam Matham associated with the revered saint Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy. It is a sensible lunch halt, with simple Andhra meals served at local restaurants. From here the road heads east towards Nandyal through greener country, with the first low ridges of the Nallamala range appearing on the horizon ahead.

Temple of the Crystal Springs
Nandyal is the district headquarters and the centre of the Nava Nandi circuit, with Prathama Nandi and Naga Nandi inside the town itself. The town is also remembered as the place where the name Rayalaseema, the land of the Rayas, was formally adopted for the region. The bangalore to nandyal distance is about 355 kilometres, and Nandyal offers the widest choice of hotels if your group prefers a town stay. The final fifteen kilometres run east towards the Nallamala hills through banana plantations, coconut groves and fields watered by the Mahanandi springs. The temple stands at the edge of the forest, and your driver parks close to the entrance. Check current mahanandi temple timings before you leave, as they change on festival days, especially Maha Shivaratri. Devasthanam accommodation near the temple books quickly in Karthika month.

Our most requested plan. Day one covers the drive with halts at Penukonda and Anantapur, arrival at Mahanandi by afternoon and evening darshan. Day two covers the Nava Nandi circuit around Nandyal in the morning and the return to Bangalore, arriving by night. The cab and driver stay with you throughout, and the itinerary is timed around temple hours.
Built for families with children and elderly parents who prefer a slower pace. Mahanandi, the Nava Nandis, Yaganti and Belum Caves are spread across three days with shorter driving stretches each day. An Innova Crysta or Innova Hycross gives space for luggage and long legs. Our innova crysta rental bangalore fleet is the most booked choice for this route, and families often add Ahobilam as a fourth day.
For teams planning a weekend retreat, a spiritual outing or client hosting in Rayalaseema. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO approval, multiple vehicles under one booking and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. Our corporate travels bangalore desk handles scheduling and duty slips, and larger teams can move to a tempo traveller or mini bus.
For small groups and students where cost per head matters most. An AC Etios or Dzire with a verified driver, planned to keep kilometres tight and avoid late-night driving. Split between four passengers, a sedan bangalore to mahanandi car rental is competitive with train tickets plus local taxis, and far more comfortable.
For special occasions, milestone birthdays or visiting relatives. Choose from the Fortuner, Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6 and Q7, BMW 5 Series and 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class and S Class, or the Rolls-Royce Ghost, each with an experienced chauffeur. Our luxury car rental bangalore vehicles are maintained to executive standards for long outstation runs like this one.

Booking a Car for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps:
STEP1 | Contact Tejas Travels Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location (area or landmark — Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, hotel name, tech park), destination or full itinerary, number of passengers, and preferred vehicle. For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically. For luxury vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce), also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding, VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire. |
STEP2 | Receive Your Written Quote Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email. The quote clearly itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate (Rs/km or flat package), driver allowance (Rs 400-1,000/day depending on vehicle class), applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit if applicable (Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati). No verbal-only prices — everything in writing before you confirm. For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage. If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time. |
STEP3 | Confirm Your Booking & Pay Advance Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone. A 15-20% advance payment confirms the booking. Payment: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link. Advance receipt within 30 minutes. Confirmation includes: driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location, and full billing breakdown — all in writing. For luxury vehicles (Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class), advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand (wedding season November-February, New Year). |
STEP4 | Your Driver Arrives Early Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure. For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate. The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled, and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy. During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments, and Bangalore traffic navigation. At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate. |
Quick Booking for Hire: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination, and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

The mahanandi temple distance from bangalore is approximately 370 kilometres one way via NH44 to Anantapur, then Tadipatri, Banaganapalle and Nandyal. The drive takes 7 to 8 hours including meal halts. We recommend leaving Bangalore by 5:00 AM.
It is not recommended. A same-day return means around 15 hours of driving and very little time at the temple. A two-day trip with an overnight halt at Mahanandi or Nandyal is far safer and more comfortable, and it lets you cover the Nava Nandi circuit properly.
Fares start from around Rs 15 per kilometre for an AC sedan and vary by vehicle. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel and driver allowance. Toll and parking, Andhra Pradesh interstate tax, driver bata after 9:45 PM and GST are billed separately, and the final rental is based on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage. Everything is itemised in the written quote sent within 2 hours of your enquiry.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking. It can be paid by UPI, bank transfer or card, and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance.
Yes. Mahanandi is in Andhra Pradesh, so the cab needs a Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh permit, checked at Kodikonda. We arrange it before departure and bill it at actuals, so you do not need to do anything.
October to March is the most comfortable season, as summer in Rayalaseema is very hot. Maha Shivaratri and the Karthika month draw large crowds, so book the cab and accommodation early for those dates. Carry a change of clothes if you plan to bathe in the pushkarini.
Yes. Yaganti and Belum Caves sit close to the route and fit into a three-day plan. Ahobilam and Srisailam each need an additional day. Share your preferred itinerary and we quote the full trip in one written estimate.
A small advance of around 20 percent of the total fare is typically collected at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and driver allocation, with the remaining balance payable at
the end of the trip either in cash directly to the driver or online via a payment link.
