Shri Parshwanath Digambar Jain Sengan Mandir
The first of the three historic mutt temples belongs to the Sengan tradition and is dedicated to Bhagwan Parshwanath. Beyond the main idol, the temple houses dozens of stone and metal images collected over centuries, along with the samadhi of Bhattarak Veersen, the last pontiff of the Sengan seat. Look for the old painted panel depicting the Panchakalyanak, the five auspicious events in the life of a Tirthankara, and the Nandishwar Dweep composition worked in glass. It is the natural first stop on any karanja jain mutt visit.

Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.
Birthplace of Tipu Sultan
The trip begins on Bellary Road past Hebbal and onto the elevated airport corridor, which is why an early start matters so much. After 7:00 AM the Hebbal flyover can add forty minutes before you have even left the city. Devanahalli sits just beyond Kempegowda International Airport, and the old stone fort, rebuilt under Haider Ali, still encloses part of the town. The plaque marking the birthplace of Tipu Sultan is a short detour off the highway.

Home of the Hanging Pillar
Past Bagepalli, NH44 enters Andhra Pradesh. A short detour near Kodikonda leads to Lepakshi, whose Veerabhadra temple from the Vijayanagara era is famous for a pillar that does not fully touch the floor, and for the giant monolithic Nandi at the village entrance. Penukonda, once a summer capital of the Vijayanagara kings, lies a little off the highway.

Groundnut Bowl of Andhra Pradesh
Anantapur itself is the heart of groundnut country and the regional commercial centre. Elapsed time: roughly four hours.

Gateway to Rayalaseema
Kurnool served as the first capital of Andhra State in the 1950s and sits on the banks of the Tungabhadra. The ruined Konda Reddy Buruju fort stands in the middle of the city. Just across the river, on the Telangana side, Alampur is home to the Jogulamba temple, one of the Shakti Peethas, and a group of early Chalukyan Navabrahma temples, an easy and rewarding thirty-minute detour. Kurnool is the natural lunch halt on day one, with plenty of vegetarian restaurants along the bypass. Elapsed time: about six and a half hours.

City of Pearls
The run through Jadcherla and Shadnagar is quick on the six-lane highway. Hyderabad is the recommended overnight halt, with every category of hotel near the Outer Ring Road so you never have to fight the city centre traffic. If your group prefers to push further, your driver can continue to Sangareddy, but stopping here keeps the second day comfortable and, importantly for Jain travellers, allows dinner before sunset. A bangalore to hyderabad cab booking follows exactly this first day.

City of Takht Sachkhand Hazur Sahib
NH161 runs north through the farmland of Medak and Kamareddy districts, crossing into Maharashtra before reaching Nanded on the Godavari. Nanded is home to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchal Nagar Sahib, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism, built where Guru Gobind Singh spent his final days. Nanded is also the best alternative overnight halt if your group left Bangalore late. A bangalore to nanded cab follows this same corridor.

Ancient Vatsagulma, Capital of the Vakatakas
Washim is one of the oldest towns in Vidarbha. As Vatsagulma, it served as a seat of a branch of the Vakataka dynasty in the fourth and fifth centuries, and the Balaji temple and the Padmatirtha tank reflect its long religious history. For Jain pilgrims this is the key junction: Shirpur Antariksha Parshwanath lies a short drive away, and many families visit it here before heading on to Karanja.

Kashi of the Jains and Birthplace of Shri Nrusimha Saraswati
The final leg passes through Mangrulpir, a taluka town with its own old dargah, before reaching Karanja. The town sits close to an interchange on the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway, and you will notice the narrow-gauge Shakuntala Railway line that once linked Karanja to Murtijapur and Yavatmal. Your driver will take you straight to the Mahavir Brahmacharyashram, your hotel, or directly to the temples if you are arriving in time for evening darshan.

Designed for Jain sanghs, mahila mandals and temple trusts from Bangalore. The itinerary is planned around darshan, abhisheka and pooja timings, chauvihar meal schedules and overnight halts at dharmashalas where possible. Karanja, Shirpur and Kulpakji can be combined into a single yatra. Consolidated invoicing is available for trusts through our corporate travels bangalore desk.
For extended families travelling together to Karanja and nearby tirths. The same mini bus and driver stay with the family throughout, and the plan can include Nanded, Aundha Nagnath and Shegaon for mixed-faith groups. Luggage space comfortably holds bags, food containers and pooja items for a week-long trip.
Built for groups with many elderly pilgrims. Driving days are kept shorter with an additional halt at Nanded, the driver drops passengers as close to temple entrances as possible, and frequent rest stops are planned. An executive mini coach with wider seats can be requested for extra comfort.
For groups where cost per head matters most. Non-AC 12 to 17 seater mini buses with a clean vehicle and verified driver. The mini bus rate per km in bangalore is lowest in the non-AC tier, and on a round trip of more than 2,000 kilometres the saving for a full group is substantial. Travelling in the cooler months from November to February makes the non-AC option practical. Budget refers only to vehicle specification, never to maintenance or driver standards.
An executive mini coach with fewer, wider push-back seats, extra legroom and premium interiors, well suited to a journey of this length. For a premium small-group option, our luxury urbania rental bangalore service offers 13 to 17 seater Force Urbania vans on the same route.
Our ac minibus rental bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations. Because we run every class of group vehicle from one Bangalore base, a change in headcount after booking can usually be handled by moving up or down a category.

• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller groups on the same route

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles have seated configurations with push-back seats, which is why we plan the Karanja journey with overnight halts at Hyderabad and, where needed, Nanded, rather than continuous overnight driving.

The bangalore to karanja lad distance is approximately 1,020 kilometres via Hyderabad, Nanded and Washim. It takes 18 to 20 hours of driving, which we plan across two days each way, with an overnight halt in Hyderabad and, for groups with senior members, an optional second halt at Nanded.
Karanja Lad is in Washim district, in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, about 32 kilometres from Murtijapur and around 60 kilometres from Amravati. The town was the seat of three historic Digambar Jain Bhattaraka institutions, the Sengan, Kashtha Sangh and Balatkar Gana, and their temples are the main karanja jain mandir sites visited by pilgrims today. It is different from Karanja in Wardha district and the Karanja river and dam in Bidar, Karnataka.
Yes. The Mahavir Brahmacharyashram in Karanja provides lodging for pilgrims, and Shirpur has several dharmashalas near the Antariksha Parshvanath temple. Hotels are also available in Karanja, Washim and Akola. We recommend booking dharmashala rooms in advance for large groups and festival periods.
Yes. Our drivers plan departures, breakfast and lunch halts so that groups observing chauvihar can complete meals before sunset, with overnight stops reached before dark. Share your group's requirements at the time of enquiry and we will build them into the day-wise plan.
Pricing starts from around Rs 30 per kilometre for a 12 seater AC mini bus and varies with seating capacity, AC or non-AC configuration and the number of days. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel and driver allowance. Toll, parking, interstate tax for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra, driver bata after 9:45 PM and GST are extra, and final rental is based on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage. Every charge appears in the written quote you receive within 2 hours.
The route passes through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra, so permits for all three states are required. They are billed at actuals and arranged by us before departure. Our drivers handle every checkpoint, so pilgrims do not need to do anything.
Yes, and most groups do. Shirpur is close to Washim and about 90 kilometres from Karanja, and Kulpakji near Hyderabad, Aundha Nagnath, Nanded and Shegaon can all be added. The same mini bus and driver stay with the group throughout, and the whole yatra is quoted as one figure.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles have seated configurations with push-back seats. For a journey of this length, we plan overnight halts at Hyderabad and, if needed, Nanded, which is safer and far more comfortable than continuous overnight driving.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking, paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, with a receipt within 30 minutes. Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge, but multi-day yatras such as Karanja need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Charges of 10, 25 and 50 percent apply for later cancellations as set out in our cancellation policy.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover; passengers should arrange their own travel insurance if needed. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel dates, pickup location, group size and day-wise yatra plan. A written quote follows within 2 hours. Our mini bus booking online and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
