Cancellation Policy — Force Urbania Hire in Bangalore
Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation. There are no hidden conditions.
• More than 72 hours before departure — No cancellation charge. 100 percent of the advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days.
• 48 to 72 hours before departure — 10 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 10 percent deduction.
• 24 to 48 hours before departure — 25 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 25 percent deduction.
• 12 to 24 hours before departure — 50 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 50 percent deduction.
• Less than 12 hours before departure — 75 percent of the total trip fare. Minimal or no refund depending on trip value.
• No-show, where the vehicle is deployed and the group is absent — 100 percent of the total trip fare. No refund. The full fare is payable.
• Cancellation by Tejas Travels due to breakdown or force majeure — No cancellation charge. 100 percent refunded within 2 working days, or a substitute vehicle is offered.
Special Cancellation Conditions
• Multi-day outstation hire including Varanga, Karkala, Sringeri, Agumbe and Udupi — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund on overnight or multi-day Urbania hire from Bangalore.
• Weddings — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of the wedding date are non-refundable.
• Premium vehicles — luxury-configuration Urbania and high-end cars require a minimum 5-day notice for a full refund, given limited Bangalore fleet availability and wedding season demand.
• Peak dates — New Year, Diwali, Dasara and Bangalore long weekends require a minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.
• Force majeure — Bangalore bandhs, Agumbe or Charmadi Ghat landslide closures, traffic disruptions and road closures attract a 100 percent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period, or a rerouted trip on the alternate ghat at no extra charge if you would rather travel.
• Modifications — date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.

The bangalore to varanga distance is approximately 385 kilometres via Hassan, Belur, Balehonnur, Sringeri and Agumbe. Allow 9 to 10 hours including breakfast, lunch and the ghat descent — this is a longer day than most Karnataka routes and we plan it as such, asking for a 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM departure. That timing also puts you at Kere Basadi during the afternoon session rather than during its midday closure, and gets the Agumbe descent done well before dusk.
Agumbe is a narrow forest ghat with fourteen hairpin bends, and the margin on the upper corners is limited. We route 12 to 17 seater vehicles down it as a matter of course, while 20 and 24 seater mini buses are sent via Charmadi Ghat and Karkala instead — about ten kilometres further and considerably less scenic. The Urbania at 13 or 17 seats sits right at the top of what Agumbe accommodates comfortably, so a group of sixteen gets the Sringeri halt and the Agumbe sunset point rather than the long way round. That is a real reason to book this class on this particular route.
urbania fare starts around Rs 31,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
Kere Basadi is generally open from about 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM with a break from roughly 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, though village timings vary and it is worth having your chauffeur confirm on the day. The temple stands on an island in a lake and is reached only by a small boat that visitors row across themselves — there is no causeway. Plan to arrive mid-morning or after 3:30 PM and allow an hour at the site. Afternoon light on the water is better than morning light if you are photographing it.
Not as a standalone trip, and we would rather say so than have a group drive nine hours each way for one afternoon. Varanga is three Basadis and a lake. What justifies the distance is the circuit: Karkala is 25 kilometres away, Agumbe about 30, Udupi 40, Sringeri 65, and Kollur and Dharmasthala within a further leg. Most of our bookings here are three to five day itineraries. Share your dates and we will build the day-wise plan alongside the quote.
Both seat a similar number, so it comes down to comfort against cost. A tempo traveller is more economical and is a perfectly good vehicle on this corridor, and it takes Agumbe as readily as the Urbania does. The Urbania has a monocoque body with less body roll through the hairpins, a stand-up cabin, individual air vents, better seats and much better sound insulation. Across a nine-hour day with fourteen bends at the end of it, most groups who have tried both do not go back. We will quote for both together if you want to decide on the numbers.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Urbania fleet numbers are limited relative to demand, so for Bangalore wedding season between November and February, and for Dasara, Diwali and New Year, book as far ahead as you can.
October to January is the best window overall — the lake is full, the lilies are out, the Ghats are green after the monsoon and Agumbe is open. February to May is dry and increasingly warm on the coastal side, though the Urbania’s air conditioning handles it comfortably. June to September brings extraordinary rainfall to this part of the Ghats, with Agumbe recording among the highest totals in India. The landscape is at its most dramatic, but landslide closures are common and the Kudlu Theertha trail is not advisable.
Varanga village has almost no commercial food, so plan meals around Hebri, nine kilometres away, which has a good local reputation. Sringeri is the practical lunch halt on the outbound leg and can feed a vehicle-load without notice. For accommodation, the Jain Math at Varanga maintains a guest house for pilgrims, while Agumbe, Hebri, Karkala and Udupi all have options suited to a group of twelve to sixteen. Agumbe is the one worth considering for the sunset alone. We will suggest halts once you share the dates and group size.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, and on this route it makes no practical difference, since the drive is completed in daylight and neither Agumbe nor Charmadi should be taken after dark. On insurance: we do not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered.
