Alleppey Backwaters Houseboat Cruise
The single biggest reason travellers make the long drive to Alleppey is the houseboat cruise through its famous backwaters, a network of canals, rivers and lagoons stretching over nine hundred kilometres. Traditional kettuvallam houseboats, built from wood and coir without a single nail, drift past paddy fields, coconut groves, small temples and churches, offering a rare glimpse of Kuttanad village life from the water. Most cruises include meals cooked on board in traditional Kerala style, and both day trips and overnight stays are available depending on how much time you have. For many visitors, watching the sun set over the water from the deck of a houseboat is the single most memorable part of the entire trip.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Hosur
Industrial gateway town
Hosur, just across the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu border, is one of the first major towns on this route and is known for its automobile and electronics manufacturing units. The stretch from Bangalore to Hosur is usually the most congested part of the journey due to city outskirts traffic, so most drivers prefer to clear this section early in the morning before the roads get busier.

Krishnagiri
Mango town and dam views
Krishnagiri is well known across South India for its mango orchards and is often called the mango city of Tamil Nadu, with roadside stalls selling fresh mangoes and juices in season. The Krishnagiri Dam, visible from parts of the highway, adds a scenic backdrop to this stretch, and the town is a popular breakfast stop for drivers running the Bangalore to Kerala highway corridor.

Salem
Steel city and textile hub
Salem, one of the larger cities on this route, is known for its steel plants, silk and cotton textile industry, and mango and coconut cultivation in the surrounding districts. It is a good midway stop for a proper meal, fuel and a short break, since it marks roughly a third of the total distance to Alleppey and offers plenty of well-reviewed highway restaurants.
Erode
Turmeric city of India
Erode, often called the turmeric city of India, hosts one of the largest turmeric markets in the country and is also a significant textile and handloom centre. The highway here passes through fertile agricultural land, and the town serves as a convenient checkpoint roughly midway between Salem and Coimbatore for a quick tea or snack break.

Coimbatore
Manchester of South India
Coimbatore, nicknamed the Manchester of South India for its long history of textile manufacturing, is one of the largest cities on this route and a natural stopping point for a longer break, fuel and a proper meal. The city also marks the point where the terrain begins to change, with the Western Ghats visible in the distance as the road approaches the Kerala border through the scenic Walayar forest stretch.

Palakkad
Gateway to Kerala
Palakkad, the first major town after crossing into Kerala, is historically known as the gateway to Kerala because of the Palakkad Gap, a natural break in the Western Ghats that has long served as the main route between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The town is home to the well preserved Palakkad Fort, and the sudden shift to lush greenery and coconut groves along the highway here is a clear sign that you have entered Kerala's backwater country.

Thrissur
Cultural capital of Kerala
Thrissur, widely regarded as the cultural capital of Kerala, is famous for the Thrissur Pooram festival, its temple architecture and its strong classical arts tradition. The highway bypass around the city keeps this stretch relatively quick, but travellers with extra time sometimes make a short detour into the city for its markets and temples before continuing towards Kochi.

Kochi
Queen of the Arabian Sea
Kochi, often called the Queen of the Arabian Sea, is Kerala's largest city and commercial hub, known for Fort Kochi's colonial era architecture, Chinese fishing nets and a thriving food scene. Many travellers combine their Alleppey trip with a day in Kochi, either on the way in or on the return leg, since the two cities are less than an hour and a half apart and offer a nice contrast between backwater calm and coastal city energy.

Alleppey
Destination - the Venice of the East
The final stretch from Kochi into Alleppey follows the coast through Cherthala, with paddy fields and canals becoming more frequent as you approach the town. Depending on your houseboat or resort booking, your driver will drop you directly at the jetty or your accommodation, keeping in mind that most houseboat check-in times are fixed around noon. From here, your backwater itinerary of houseboat cruises, village walks and sightseeing can begin.

Force Urbania Packages for Bangalore to Alleppey
Three packages cover almost every alleppey tour package from bangalore enquiry we receive. Each is quoted on the same garage to garage basis, each includes both interstate permits as stated line items, and each can be adjusted. Houseboat and hotel costs sit outside our quote.
Corporate Offsite Package
Built for technology and consulting teams from Whitefield, Electronic City, Manyata and the Outer Ring Road corridor. Twelve to sixteen seater Urbania, GST invoice, proforma invoice available at quote stage for purchase order approval, GPS tracking visible to the travel desk, and permits handled centrally so nothing lands on the travel desk at a state border. Because of the distance this works as a four day trip rather than a weekend, typically with a Kochi overnight on the way down and a direct return. Consolidated monthly invoicing is available for registered corporate accounts, and repeat bookers can move onto thirty day credit terms. See our corporate travels bangalore page for account setup.
Family Backwater Package
Designed for extended family groups of eight to thirteen, and built around the reality that twelve hours in a vehicle is a lot for children and senior members. The default is a split drive with a night at Coimbatore or Kochi in each direction, which turns a punishing day into two comfortable ones and adds Fort Kochi to the itinerary at no extra driving. At Alleppey the structure is one night on a houseboat and one at Marari rather than two on the water, which suits groups with anyone who sleeps badly on a boat. Families comparing this against a premium car rentals in bangalore booking should note that one Urbania is almost always cheaper than two cabs over this distance.
Luxury Package
The top tier of urbania on rent bangalore hire for this route. The newest vehicle in the fleet, an eight or nine seater in the one by one captain layout so every passenger has an individual window seat on a twelve hour day, a chauffeur in formal attire, and coordination with premium houseboats and the better Marari properties. This is the package for honeymoons, milestone anniversaries and visiting international guests, and it extends naturally into Munnar and Thekkady for a full Kerala circuit. Airport pickup on the outbound morning can be added. Book well ahead for the October to February season and for the August boat race period.
Billing Details for Your Bangalore to Alleppey Urbania Hire
Tejas Travels quotes every booking in writing before you commit, and the billing structure below appears on that quote in exactly these terms. Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking and guarantee the specific Urbania variant on your travel date. The balance is settled at trip end.
Included in the quoted fare:
● Base fare and fuel charges
● Driver allowance
Excluded from the quoted fare and billed separately at actuals:
● Toll and parking charges
● Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border
● Additional driver bata after 9:45 pm
● Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
● GST
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover as part of the booking. Passengers who want travel insurance should arrange it independently before the trip.
Three practical notes for this route. First, the interstate tax line is significant here, because the itinerary crosses two borders and both Tamil Nadu and Kerala permits apply. We arrange both and they appear as stated amounts on your quote. A competing quote that omits them is not a comparable number. Second, garage to garage means the meter starts when the vehicle leaves our yard and stops when it returns, which on a multi day Kerala trip covers the nights the vehicle is stationed with you. Third, houseboat and hotel charges are entirely separate and are paid to those operators directly. Groups searching urbania per km rate bangalore should confirm the permit position before comparing any two quotes on this route.

How to Book a Force Urbania from Bangalore to Alleppey
Booking takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.
Step 1 - Contact Tejas Travels
● Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
● Share your travel date, Bangalore pickup location by area or landmark, such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, the airport, a hotel name or a tech park.
● Share your destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers, and your preferred Urbania variant from the 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seater range.
● For airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.
● For corporate, wedding or VIP bookings, mention the occasion so the team can allocate the best condition vehicle and arrange formal chauffeur attire where required.
● For Alleppey specifically, tell us your houseboat jetty and boarding time, and whether you want the drive split with an overnight at Coimbatore or Kochi. Both decide the departure time on your quote.
Step 2 - Receive your written quote
● A written quote reaches you by WhatsApp or email within 2 hours of your enquiry.
● The quote itemises every charge: vehicle hire rate in rupees per kilometre or as a flat package, driver allowance, toll estimate, and the Tamil Nadu and Kerala interstate permits, both of which apply on this route.
● Houseboat and hotel charges are not part of the quote and are paid to those operators directly.
● No verbal only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.
● Corporate clients needing reimbursement can request a proforma invoice at this stage, and comparison quotes for two vehicle classes can be issued together.
Step 3 - Confirm your booking and pay the advance
● Once you are satisfied with the written quote, confirm by WhatsApp or phone.
● A 20 per cent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking.
● Pay by UPI through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link.
● Your advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.
● Confirmation includes driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing.
● For peak dates, including the October to February season, the August boat race period, long weekends and New Year, a higher advance may apply because the Urbania fleet is limited and permits need lead time.
Step 4 - Your driver arrives early
● Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
● For airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the arrivals gate.
● The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire.
● The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.
● During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments, both border crossings and the jetty drop and collection.
● At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre agreed rate.
Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, jetty and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.
Payment Methods
Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods, for both the advance and the final settlement at trip end.
● UPI. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt, and the recommended route for all advance deposits.
● Bank transfer. NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Used by corporate clients and for advances above Rs 10,000. IMPS is instant and NEFT can take up to 2 hours.
● Credit or debit card. Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, through a payment link sent to your registered mobile number or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.
● Net banking. All major Indian banks, through a payment link sent by WhatsApp or email. Preferred for purchase order based approvals in the Bangalore technology sector.
● Cash. Accepted for the balance at trip end, with a receipt issued. The advance must be paid digitally for the booking to be confirmed.
● Corporate credit. Thirty day credit terms for registered and signed corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.
Fleet note: the Force Urbania fleet is smaller than the standard tempo traveller fleet, and multi day Kerala bookings take a vehicle out of circulation for four or five days at a time, so they fill earlier than short routes. Book well ahead for the October to February season.

What Our Customers Say About Our Urbania Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Alleppey Urbania
About 625 kilometres by the main route through Salem, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam. Realistic driving time is eleven to twelve hours including meal halts, not the eight that some listings suggest. The alternate route through Mysuru, Wayanad and Kozhikode is shorter in distance at around 570 kilometres but slower in practice, because of the Wayanad ghat and the Bandipur night traffic ban.
Break it if you can. A night at Coimbatore or Kochi turns a punishing twelve hour day into two comfortable ones and adds Fort Kochi to the itinerary at no extra driving. If you must do it in a day, leave Bangalore at five in the morning. A nine o'clock departure means arriving after dark on the first evening of your holiday, which is a poor way to start it.
Yes, two of them. The route crosses into Tamil Nadu at Hosur and into Kerala at the Palakkad border, and both states require permits for a commercial vehicle. Kerala enforces this seriously. Tejas Travels arranges both as part of the booking and the driver carries the documentation. The costs are billed at actuals and appear as stated lines on your quote rather than as charges added later.
Rates start at Rs 40 per kilometre. Fuel is included and billing is garage to garage. A return trip with local movement runs about 1,350 kilometres, which puts a 13 seater booking around Rs 48,700 plus driver bata, tolls, both permits and GST. Houseboat and hotel costs are separate.
Yes. Your Urbania drops the group at the jetty, holds any luggage not going onto the boat, and is there when you disembark the following morning. The houseboat is a separate booking with a separate operator and is not part of our quote. Tell us your jetty and boarding time at enquiry so the arrival is timed for it, since most boats board around midday.
Twenty per cent of the total fare. The advance must be paid digitally, by UPI, bank transfer or card, for the booking to be confirmed. Your receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after the advance is deducted.
The quoted fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and the driver allowance. Charged separately are toll and parking, interstate tax, which applies twice on this route, additional driver bata after 9:45 pm, and GST. The final rental is calculated on the total kilometres and hours from our garage back to our garage. Houseboat and hotel costs are outside our quote. Passenger insurance is not covered by Tejas Tours and Travels and should be arranged independently if you want it.
Yes, and given the distance it usually should be. A five or six night Kerala circuit covering Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey makes far better use of two long driving days than a return trip for the backwaters alone. Munnar is about 170 kilometres from Alleppey and Thekkady sits between them. Share the full itinerary at enquiry so the quote reflects the total kilometres rather than being revised on the road.
October to February is the season, with lower humidity and calm water. March to May is hot and humid, and the backwaters are less pleasant in the middle of the day. The monsoon from June to September is green and dramatic and considerably cheaper, with the snake boat race season in August drawing large crowds to Punnamada. Kerala has experienced serious monsoon flooding in recent years, so check conditions before travelling in those months.
Cancellations more than 72 hours before departure carry no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Multi day Kerala itineraries need 7 days notice for a full refund, because permits are arranged ahead and the vehicle is blocked for several days. Our terms cover the vehicle only; your houseboat and hotel bookings have their own policies. Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference.
