Puttaparthi, a small town of the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, has become a famous pilgrim spot for being the holy abode of the spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba. The town is on the banks of the river Chitravathi and is perched at a height of 475 meters. The history of Puttaparthi revolves around the birth and life of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Formerly, Puttaparthi was a small farming village known as Gollapalli, which means the "home of cowherds". Satyanarayana Raju was born on 23rd November 1926 to a couple named Sri Pedda Venkappa and Srimati Eswaramma. Due to multiple incidences, which reflected his supernatural powers, people believed him to be a reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba and he was called Sathya Sai Baba. Sathya Sai Baba's educations have received worldwide acclamation, and his teachings are rooted in the principles of peace, truth, love, righteousness, and non-violence. Day 1: Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre (Planetam), is a Planetarium that can host 200 people at a time. Through its space shows in Hindi as well as English on Thursdays, it imparts information about Mathematics, Astronomy and Physics. An excellent educational venture, it makes use of Spitz Space System–512. Shows begin when the number of visitors crosses 120, which usually happens around 9.30 or 9.45 AM. Entry is up to 10.30 AM only. Duration of the show is approximately half an hour. Show will be played on the speakers in the majority preferred language, other languages (English, Hindi and Telugu are available for this show) can be heard using headsets.

Day 1: Sathya Sai Ashram (Prasanthi Nilayam), formally known as Prashanti Nilayam (Prasanthi Nilayam means 'the abode of highest peace’), Sathya Sai Ashram is the place where the spiritual Guru used to live. This ashram bustles with activity all-round the year and is famous for being one of the world’s best religious organizations. Inaugurated in 1950, this Ashram comprises of hospitals, museums, a huge assembly hall, educational institutions and other modern facilities, for Baba’s devotees. This Ashram has strict rules and can accommodate nearly thousands of people.

Meditation Tree
Day 1: Meditation Tree, Planted in the tranquil Ashram by Sai Baba, Meditation tree is a banyan tree. Planted in the year 1959, this tree is the perfect place to meditate and seek inner peace. This zone is quite popular amongst the inmate as well as visitors. Separate areas for men and women, they cannot be visited before sunrise and after sunset. The roof of the tree has a thick metal place on its roof.

Chaitanya Jyoti Museum
Day 1: Chaitanya Jyoti Museum, is an architectural marvel, describing the life of Sathya Sai Baba, from his childhood days till his end days. This amazing museum uses visual and multimedia techniques to depict various incidents of the life and divinity of Sai Baba. The museum is open to public on all days, except Mondays. Placed on a hilly slope, this museum boasts of architecture, which is a blend of traditional and modern styles.
Timings: 9:30 AM to 12 PM and 3 to 5:15 PM.

Hanuman Temple
Day 1: Hanuman Temple, is placed on the Gopuram road, boasting of a tranquil environment and offering inner peace to the visitors. The Shiva Lingam at the entrance of the temple was brought from Kasim by Sai Baba. The unique chamber of the temple, which looks almost engraved on a cave, is the main attraction. The pool made at the foot of the idol of Hanuman is said to be filled with his tears for Lord Rama.
