It would take about 8–9 hours to travel from Dehradun to Sonprayag and along the way, you can see two of the sacred places of Devprayag and Rudraprayag where 2 rivers merged to form sacred rivers. With this planning, make sure to arrive in Sonprayag in time by evening so that you can rest before your trek to Kedarnath.



Day 3: Gaurikund to Kedarnath Trek – What to Plan

From Sonprayag, take a local jeep for the short ride into Gaurikund, which is the final base for the 16 km trek to Kedarnath. You can either walk, ride a pony, or get carried by a palki. The trek is very scenic, headed North through some dense forest and ultimately providing you with views of the surrounding peaks and valleys for the majority of the journey; the view is so rewarding that the hike it takes to get there seems almost irrelevant.

 

Day 4: Kedarnath Exploration and return trek

In the morning, enjoy some time at Kedarnath Temple. Attend the morning aarti and visit some of the more notable sights, such as the Bhairavnath Temple. Either in mid-day or afternoon, start making your way back to Gaurikund for the return trek. When you arrive at Gaurikund you can take the rest of the day to rest in Sonprayag.

 

Day 5: Travel to return to Bangalore – Routes and Options

Travel is again to Dehradun and from there catch your flight to Bangalore for concentrating on the completed spiritual pilgrimage.
