Day 2: Lakshmana Tirtha River, is a tributary of the river Kaveri. It originates in the Brahmagiri hills, Kodagu or Coorg and later joins the river Kaveri at Krishnarajasagara. Originating from the Brahmagiri Range, the river Lakshmana Theertha plunges down from a height of 170 ft. forming the Iruppu Water falls. The Lakshmanatirtha falls or the Irupu falls is a much-visited fresh water cascade located on the river, bordering Kerala, on the way to the Nagerhole National Park. There is a famed Shiva Temple, the Rameshwara Temple, situated on the banks of the Lakshmanatirtha near the falls.

Iruppu Falls
Day 2: Iruppu Falls, Originating from the Lakshmana Tirtha River in Karnataka, Iruppa Falls is one of the most sought after destinations in Karnataka. According to fables, Lord Rama and Lakshmana were in search of Sita when they became thirsty. Lord Lakshmana shot an arrow to Brahmagiri hill from where the Lakshmana Tirtha River sprang. It eventually flows into the Kaveri River. Due to presence of Rameshwara Temple, Iruppu Falls is a major pilgrim spot as well.

Rameshwara Temple
Day 2: Rameshwara Temple, Located on the banks of the Lakshman Tirtha River, Rameshwara Temple is a Hindu religious temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. As per Hindu mythology note, Rama and Lakshmana when reached the Brahmagiri hills, while searching for Sita. When Rama became thirsty, Lakshmana shot an arrow into the hills bringing into being the Lakshmanatirtha River. The sacred origins of the river lend it the power to cleanse away sins and beings devotees in droves during Shivarathri. Like most of the tributaries of Cauvery, this river, particularly the falls is at full capacity during the monsoon.

Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
Day 2: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, Kodagu district near Coorg is home to the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. Known for its mesmerizing scenic beauty, lush greenery, and diverse flora and fauna, the sanctuary is spread across an area of 181 sq. km. It is covered by coffee plantations, evergreen/ semi-evergreen forests making it a tourists’ favorite getaway spot. Explore the soothing, refreshing environment around you. Day 3: Nagarhole National Park and Tiger Reserve, also referred as Rajiv Gandhi National Park is the enchanting 247 square-mile long wild reserve located in Kodagu and Mysore district of Karnataka. Attracted with thick forest cover at the west of the Kabini River, the Nagarhole National Park is counted among the well-maintained national parks in India. Nagarhole is situated to the north-west of Bandipur National Park which are separated by Kabini reservoir. Inside the park coracle boat riding facility is available in Kabini River. The best time to visit Nagarhole National Park is Nov-May, especially Apr and May.

Kabini River

It flows eastward to join the Kaveri River at Tirumakudalu Narasipura in Karnataka. The Kaveri River then irrigates Tamil Nadu and it is major drinking water source before emptying into the Bay of Bengal near kaveripoompattinam.
